also in 2015 they are hoping to have built the first prototype. so far they have a nice 3D drawing (i can do that in a couple of hours) and they named the people who will be designing it
no dude. that was the mock up (its not a functional tank, like a consent car in a n auto show) that was on display on that arms trade show. At this time they have almost nothing. they have only declared which companies will be designing it. and a date they hope to finish it buy.

there was an agreement between Pak-Turk for conventional armor manufacturing transfer of technology back in 2007-08 through which Pak would help Turk brothers through TOT for efficient conventional armor for their Altay.

Clearly looking at the Data you just wrote down clearly shows its not an indigious tank after all. Altay tank will beat the AK with ease. Can someone explain me this... why is turkey creating their own tank which won't be as good as let's say a german or american tank? is it simply to make money because who would buy a turkish tank? @zagorakis88 dude those tanks m1a2s encountered in iraq were freaking t-72s... lol. if you attack with a t-72 or hell if you attack to a m1a2 with a battalion of t-72s it is suicide same goes for altay as well this baby will be heavier armored and will have stronger engine compared to m1a2s and same gun with better targeting system. so today's modern tank warfare goes like this = first strike first kill and this is what altay will do

Oh really? Why would Pakistani engineers work on Altay tank? Pakistan has co-op with China. Turkey has co-op with South Korea, Altay tank is based on K2, the most expensive tank. it would be great help, but Aselsan engineers do a great job, they showed the first prototype at IDEF.

u are wrong: this tank will not be foreign parts. its fully national project. the koreans want to help the turks, if the turks could not produce an "engine motor" for the battle tank, kmw germany give not tech transfer and the koreans want to give an hyundai motor; but aselsan (turkish firm) produced an engiene-motor for the altay tank.

technically it is being developed now not yet made.
the turks are clearly trying to make a good tank. but apparently they have yet to develop armor, engine, or a gun really. so right now they really have nothing and they are hoping to get it all ready and in production by 2015. i will be impressed if they really get it done.
but i have no reason to believe they will. projects like this are very difficult and set back are common place.

please give me some sources. cause as far as i know the best ALTAY tank they have made is made of plasic and was nothing but a mock up.
every time i read about it they say "planed to have so and so cannon" "planned to have so and so speed" "The Altay will.." "it will have so an so armor."
also in 2015 they are hoping to have built the first prototype. so far they have a nice 3D drawing (i can do that in a couple of hours) and they named the people who will be designing it

no dude. that was the mock up (its not a functional tank, like a consent car in a n auto show) that was on display on that arms trade show. At this time they have almost nothing. they have only declared which companies will be designing it. and a date they hope to finish it buy.

there was an agreement between Pak-Turk for conventional armor manufacturing transfer of technology back in 2007-08 through which Pak would help Turk brothers through TOT for efficient conventional armor for their Altay.

Clearly looking at the Data you just wrote down clearly shows its not an indigious tank after all. Altay tank will beat the AK with ease. Everything is indigious on altay, its going to use the most powerfull engine ever designed for tanks the 1800p Diesel engine. And Btw the first prototype was released months ago at IDEF 2011. Altay western system is much different then AK dont compare.

Can someone explain me this... why is turkey creating their own tank which won't be as good as let's say a german or american tank? is it simply to make money because who would buy a turkish tank? As we saw during desert storm, irak lost hundreds of tanks while the allied forces lost like less than 10 if i remember correctly, so i really find it quite funny that turkey is building their tank lol

@zagorakis88 dude those tanks m1a2s encountered in iraq were freaking t-72s... lol. if you attack with a t-72 or hell if you attack to a m1a2 with a battalion of t-72s it is suicide same goes for altay as well this baby will be heavier armored and will have stronger engine compared to m1a2s and same gun with better targeting system. so today's modern tank warfare goes like this = first strike first kill and this is what altay will do

Korea will share some hidden system on tank (line enginee of tanks). but fire control system will be türkish on tank which has been caleed "volkan" fire control sytem. aselsan and tübitar will upgrade this system to volkan 2. and it will be best fire control system. we will see. but this can not be shared with other countrys

@ChrisRedfieldofficia Altay is fairly the same design as k2 of south korea, which some of the tech was adopted from such as suspension, stabilizer to shoot on moving target etc, This tank is a 3rd generation tank which is concidered "some ways" of better than abraham m1a and costs lot less to produce.

@MuKo18 STAMP hiçbir tanka monte edilemez. Üstteki arkadaşın dediği gibi açık hedef olur. Stamp deniz kuvvetleri için üretilmiş birşey. Hücum botlarına ve fırkateynlere v.s artık herneyse onlara monte ediliyor onlar. Tank için saçma olur ki zaten olmayacak.
