Don't you know that farmers all over the world put jackasses and mules in pastures with sheep and goats because they will savagely attack and kill coyotes, dogs and even bobcat and lynx that menace the herd in their pasture? I live in colorado, train and break my own horses, we have had our horses attacked by lions before, there is no doubt in my head a horse or mule is capable of killing a lion, BUT i looked at the mule and it did not appear to have had any wounds. From my previous knowledge a cougar would have at least cut that mule up somewhat. Ive seen MY horses heard up against predators many times, and i know for a fact that horses can defend themselves quite easly in grps, and many lions wont attack a group

Donkeys are especially aggressive because they can't run fast enough to get away so they have adapted to fight back if needed. Donkies can carry up to four times thier wieght and can have a bite power strong enough to crush a persons face with one bite. They are not killer but they can fight like it.

Actually I came across this years ago, before it was on YouTube. It was a series of photos of the event, NOT ALL OF WHICH WERE INCLUDED IN THE YOUTUBE VIDEO, that cearly showed the cougar crouching upright in front of the mule, paws batting at its face. I remember reading the original story when it came out. A couple were walking a trail with their two dogs. The mountain lion wanted a piece of the dogs. Before it could get to them the mule ran up and kicked it. I then grabbed it by the tale while it was stunned and began smashing it around. Wow, people, simmer, i can see how a mule would just play with the body of the dead cougar, but mules do have a tendency to fight off predators and occasionally kill them. I do know of farmers who will put a donkey or a mule in with their sheep. The mule or donkey, will actually stand it's ground and fight off the coyote, or wolf.
