Wrong..! This is from The $5.98 E.P. Garage Days Re-Revisited It was released on August 21, 1987 and was the first recording the band made with Jason Newsted.

They built a recording studio in Lars's Garage and they covered songs from Diamond Head,Holocaust,Killing Joke,Budgie and the Misfits.

Then they reissued the album in 1998 with extra cover songs.

Just to clear this up, Metallica was only thrash during Kill em all and Ride the Lightning. MOP was proto-groove metal as was and justice. They only had minor thrash moments. Mop and AJFA sound nothing like other thrash bands. Overkill, Dark Angel, Heathen, Death Angel, Anthrax, Megadeth, Kreator, Sodom. Listen to them and tell me that metallica plays thrash. They're closer to pantera than thrash.
