@tigkid If you're going to take it literally, yes, he hit him in the back. But if you take it from how the penalty is called then you are way off, and that's what matters. Have you ever watched like any professional game ever? There are so many hits where people get hit in the numbers/back of the shoulders. You can't judge every hit as a hit from behind like that.  It varies by the severity and situation. Like I said, if you called HFB literally, then everyone would be suspended.

Ya Canada won this game on goonery alone, it had nothing to do with them scoring 4 goals on the PP and holding the opposition to 1 goal. Germany definitely would've come back and scored 4 goals in 12 minutes if it wasn't for this hit.

Canada should not have even been on the powerplay for two of their goals, Kane's goal was scored on blatant goaltender interference, and Germany, under IIHF rules, easily could have, and should have had 3-5 more powerplays.

Taking someone's eye out with your stick, or attempting to do so, is not legal at ANY level of hockey, and you need to take off the homer glasses if you think otherwise. Or if you think Cormier drilling Muller face-first into the boards is clean as well.

Della Rovere and Cormier were at that tournament to add a physical presence, and to throw the body on anyone who went after the likes of Tavares, Hodgson, and Eberle. Ruel's hit was clearly in from behind and to the boards. The other factor was that the German player was not hurt from Della Rovere's hit. Esposito was, and that's why Germany got a 5 minute boarding major and Ruel got a game misconduct. Fairly clean hit, though borderline boarding or charging, but not a cheap hit
