the engine in the evo is transverse mounted as opposed to the 4g63 found in dsm's. The timing belt in a 4g63 dsm is on the right side, whereas the timing belt on a 4g63 in an evo is on the left. Evo tranny on the right, turbo dsm tranny on the left.

the engines are slighty different....thats why you can't just drop a new evo engine into a second gen eclipse....and don't forget the old 4g64...also i've never seen the engine in the eclipse referred to as 4g63t the (t) is used all the time to discribe the engine in the evo

As much as i hate to disagree with a fellow DSMER...the evo's have a slighty different engine,it's called 4g63t....they took a 4g63 and tweaked it...

lol. The T in 4G63 stands for turbo. All turbo DSMs/Galant VR4/Evos had the 4G63T. I'll make another vid soon, I'm putting down at least 325 to the wheels now , should make a good vid.

Yeah, you guys are both correct... 99EclipseGSX has got it right in that both DSMs and EVOs have the 4g63t engine; there was no change in the title of the engine. However, quattro your kinda right too. Although the engine in the EVO is still a 4g63, it has been "tweaked" slightly... the EVO's 4g63 has MIVEC (Mitsu's variable valve timing) technology among other things.

Anyways, this car looks just like my 97 gst... damn good looking ride if I do say so myself! :-P
