That's what Thatcherism/1980s was all about!  We had 18 years of the Tories telling us to buy and spend so we'd get into debt and work harder. The debts never get paid and the banks are forever making 'loadsamoney' from all the interest. If the Tories hadn't destroyed the industry, closed the mines and sold off national assets including the oil, we wouldn't have an ever widening gap between rich and poor and the problems that brings like the increase in crime.
