  • i wont to see u feed the big snakes

  • shouldnt you make sure the mice is disposed of before u close the baskets like tht the mice can hurt it...rarely but it can

  • She really did say . .we try to water the babies every other week. .or as needed.. .WTF

  • Hey Brian I have a question when you are feeding live to the balls do the rodents ever bite back?

  • i like these episodes where i see you guys working and its not just skits dont get me wrong some of them are funny but i like seeing the snakes and the feeding episodes

  • Hey, Brian. I have 2 baby ball python about a year old. One male one female. They are both het for albino. My question is that my male seems to be more aggressive than the female and kinda picky about eating. He doesnt eat near as much as my female. It seems that I have to really aggravte the mouse and make it move more so he is interested in it. I want him to eat more because i'm wanting to breed them when the get big enough. Any thoughts??

  • Just a quick thought. Youn say it is inhumane to feed live mice/rats to the snakes, but isn't it just ah inhumane to freeze the mice first? Don't they suffer more to freeze to death then to be killed by the snake? They don't get pre-killed frozen mice/rats in the wild do they? Thins is NOT a negitive comment, just (FOOD) for thought.

  • @ngb187 Most big Rodent companies acually use carbon dioxide chambers to kill the rodents. This causes the rodent to go unconcious first, then kills it. That way the rodent doesnt feel anything. As far as im aware none of the big company's just straight freeze them to death, its actually quite human.

  • You should show a snake feeding on a LIVE Large Rat!

  • My friend's ball python refuses to eat frozen mice, he lives in an area where there are no pet stores that carry mice (oddly enough) do you know of a website where he can purchase live mice/rats, that will deliver to his home?

  • Look at all those delicious mice getting ready to be thrown to the slaughter. >:)

    MWAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • What if there was a tornado or hurricane and all the tubs opens? all snakes come out xD

  • I've got a female red-tail columbian boa and she's about 3yrs old and has become kind of aggressive, striking at the glass and such, is there something i could be doing wrong?, environment, feeding schedule? what would u do to make her more docile.

  • @decadence18 make sure you are always as calm as possible starting from when you first walk in the room. she's not striking because she is angry, its because she is scared. she needs to learn you are not food and you are not going to hurt her. take it slow, dont give up.

  • Those ball pythons are always with their head ready to strike.

  • its hard to hear the little mice screeming

  • sup

  • Hey Brain do u feed your adult ball pythons live rats

  • hey brian i am thinking about getting a ball python i was wondering how much should i pay for a normal and are u coming to the repticon expo in richmond january 14-16 thanks

  • poor rodents but snakes r still living 2 and in the last part what if the snake wasnt hungry the mouse would attack it wouldnt it

  • is chewy still working there

  • "ill be honest with you *squeak* i dont really like to feed live if i dont have to unfortunatly baby ball pythons really do best feeding on live. its somthing *squeak* im really conflicted about you know? when i first started breeding reptiles *squeak* i almost got out of keeping snakes because i felt so bad for the rodents."

i couldnt stop laughing at that scene haha! but yeah when i had corn snakes i would feed them frozen cause i didnt want to see the mouse die :'(

  • thats the main reason my parents dont want me haven snakes but when i get my own place i hope to get a corn or ball python until them im fine wit my beardie

  • but i don't want to attack you, when you read my comments below,it seems that way haha,i have some snakes ,and you've got many,so i understand that you have to do it ,this way, because iff you do it the way i do,then you are bussy till de day after.

great snakes and lots off fun also.

keep up the good job,and i think what will be intresting for lots off people is,when you don't hold them in racks but in a terrarium, how do you protect snakes for heatlamps.wish you the best ,greets from belgium

  • i had a lot of ball pythons, also baby's and they take frozen!

so don't say you don't have a joice.

    poor animals

  • I dont understand why people cry about mice being fed to snakes when us humans have slaughter houses to get our food and the chicken beef pork and etc that we eat get it worse then these mice

  • hahaha u can hear the mice crying in the background!!lol

  • i luv when brian is just tossing the mice in and you hear a squeal and then the mice are gone and he does it for like 30 cages

  • hey brian im 10 years old and the reason

why my name is babygirl121207 is because im on her profile my name is david and i got to ask you something ive bin watching your shows for a long time i love reptiles i have a ball python and a bearded dragon what i want to ask you is can i come down to your shop this summer and take a look at some of the snakes i might buy one cause im making my own hobby of keeping pets please repley

    Pls some1 reply !

  • yea?!

where is cold and where is hot side?!

  • looks like Brian wont answer :P

  • every time he puts a mice i a bp cage i hear a squeal

  • if you feed it 2 will it not reguritate 1?????

  • wa whould be better 2 feed my ball pyton ..alive or frozen ?

  • I hand feed my snake, he eats fish... Hes a nice snake.

  • How long can corn snake babies go without eating cuz at my work one hasn't ate in a lot of weeks. She still is alive though.

  • she shoud be starting after it sheds for the first time, if not, may have to force it to...

  • Sweet video, maybe (if u aren't already) you should try feeding them pre-killed while they're still babies.

That's what my friend did and now she has a ball python that eats pre-killed!

Oh, by the way, do you guys take in volunteers??

I want to volunteer at BHB REALLY badly!!!

  • do you guys supplement ur snakes that eat frozen with anything?

  • Oh god, you can hear their little squeeks a few seconds after Brian throws them in there... lol

I stopped feeding my snakes live ever since I saw my boa make a really bad kill...

  • this was my favorite episode not because of the feeding(well kinda) but because everyones on a bit more of a personal note

    wonderful job guys

  • because its his job, thats what he lives for?

  • you can challenge the snakes and put the mouse in a other case and then you put it in the snake case and the snake must go for the mouse

    sorry BAD ENGLISH

  • 4:52 that snake just missed your hand lol haha your awesome....Brian the snake dodger

  • I know it's not a thing I enjoy either. They have to eat and like humans breeding cows for foos the rodents are bred for food. They are trewated well before in everyway. A lot better then most cattle. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • hey Brian i want to get a ball python but my mom wont let me because she says they stink and they'd b hard to take care of, wat should i tell her,

    From, Travis

  • @wendhug tree hugger

  • @wendhug dont watch the videos and dnt get a snake then. you should keep your thoughts to your self. no one cares.

  • one more thing, what is your email address? i have some questions for you because im thinking of purchasing a corn snake for you guys =]

  • Look at the link on the most recent vids in the side bar or go to my homepage on youtube and you'll see all the links to everything. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • okay, glad to hear it. thanks for replying so quickly. Awesome snakes, keep up the great work!

  • Thanks for the support! Brian(Sbtv)

  • hey Brian, quick question. is tap water okay for snakes to drink? because ive always thought it wasnt so ive been using bottled water. my dad keeps getting annoyed with all the bottles of water im going through so is tap safe? and if not, is there something i can do to make it safe for my snakes?

  • It's perfectly safe for them to drink tap water. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • man u can actually hear the mice getting attacked when he clses the tubs, bit creppy xD

i think ill breed snakes here in australia, jungles, centralians, and darwins gonna be my specialty, ill alsoo breed some bhp, womas, childrens stimsns spotted, some coastals.

hope it goe as well a it did fr you Brian

    cheers

  • I hope it goes well for you too. You guys have such incredible species there. Thanks for the support on the show! Brian(Sbtv)

  • if i bought a baby ball from you could you guys ween it from live mice or would i have to do it myself??

  • We can normally get you one that feeds on frozen. Just let me know, Brian(Sbtv)

  • what kinda snake is that at 0:46?

  • Brian its been 2 weeks no sign of snake skin in the box can snakes shed under the substrate

  • hey brian my 2 year old coastal carpet is about 65 cm do you think a fuzzy rat a week is enough

  • I would try to feed it a bit more. Our two year olds eat a medium rat a week if not more. But don't over feed it. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • What snake is that on 1:03?

  • That's a ghost motley corn. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • I have a 1 and a half year old corn snake and I feed it 1 adult mouse evere 6 days or so. Is that ok or should I feed it 2 mice every week?

  • Whatever you think your animal needs, If one mouse seems to be enough then that's fine, if you think it needs two then thats fine too. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • could i buy snakes from you guys or would it be cheaper to go to a pet store???

  • Most of the time we're a lot cheaper then a pert shop. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • yuu are right about coming to terms with live feeding, amazing video by the way l8ers

  • Glad you liked the show! Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)

  • what is the best diet for a savana monitor the one i got cerently is fed on mice and other small cretures becuse of his small sice he is just a baby.

  • We like to switch it up bewteen rodents, and bugs. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • hay brian im just wondering how much mice you no how to give to your snake and what size like pinkies fuzzies adult mice or rats ...

    P.S im your biggest fan

    joel

  • Thanks for your support! We feed however many it takes to look like they have a nice lump in them, but not too big that they can't handle. Wish I coud be more specific. It's kind of a feel thing. Maybe I'll try to get it in the show for you. Thanks again, Brian(Sbtv)

  • do yall breed any mice or rats

  • We breed a few mice and rats, but not too many. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • sup guys, my snake is in the midst of shedding should i feed him?

  • Most of the time they prefer not to feed during shedding, but it won't hurt them if you try. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • awesome video!!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it! Brian(Sbtv)

  • Hey Brian great vidio, I was wondering how often do you feed your snakes.

  • Thanks for liking the show! We feed either once or twice a week. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • do the snakes that you feed live ever get bit by the mouse.

  • It's something we're always really careful about, but it does happen on rare occasion. that's why we prefer to feed frozen thawed. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • i know how u feel about live food my snake use to not eat frozen but i started doin it more but i was feeding her and she was like eatin 2 mice but i really liked one n i had to keep it lol but she still ate i always felt bad about seein the poor mouse suffer

  • It is tough to see the animals suffer, but the snakes have to feed too. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • True. This is nature..its supposed to be like that

  • brian you know i have thwe same problem about feeding snakes but looka t those poor little rats and mice butyou know what you just gota learn this is what snakes eat and they gotta eat, props to you brian you awsome!! oh and a big shout up to the rest of the crew lol

  • I know, snakes do have to feed, but I'm an animal lover and I even love the rodents?? Just the way it is I guess:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • The way our cages are they really don't need the hides. Unless an animal seems stressed and then we do put in hides. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • i see that some tubs have a little area open because you dident push it in all the way, dont snakes come out from there

  • The ones that are open are animals that are either sold or in other cages for breeding. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • After tossing in the live rodents do you go back and check the tubs to make sure they've been eaten?

  • Absolutely we do. If you don't the rodent might eat your snake. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • what about the big snakes?

  • We have them feeding in some of our other shows. Check em out. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • I have a 3.5 feet long ball python and she is in a 30 gallon tank i feed her a medium mouse once a week. I was wondering how to get her longer she big and fat but i want her longer? thanks

    Derek

  • I you feed it bigger meals, like a small rat it will grow faster. Hope this helps, Brian(Sbtv)

  • its good that you didnt give up an stud up that thats what snakes eat, one more thing next year theres going to be a reptile expo in CA sacrament, want go there.

  • That show sounds really cool. I won't be at the show. Let me know how it goes, Brian(Sbtv)

  • Brian loved your take on feeding live vs dead at the end. You're the snake God!

  • I really appreciate your support! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • hey brian, im curious about the "HET" thing? what does being a HET mean in naming snakes?

    thanks...

  • Het means heterozygous for a resessive gene. So the animal looks normal, but carries the gene for that color or pattern trait. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

  • hey brian, i thought that you shouldint feed a live rodent to a ball python unattended. but then again you do have alot of mouths to feed. have you ever had a rodent injure one of your snakes?

  • Whenever you feed live you take a chance, For us it's been exremely rare for anything bad to happen. Thanks, Brian(SBtv)

  • Hey Brian, can snakes live in those plastic containers for the rest of her live? And what kind of heating do you use?

  • As long as the size tub is good enough for them. We use Flex watt heat tape on thermostats. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • Do you put any type of vitamin supplement on the rodents before feeding and if you do, which type do you recommend.

  • We messed with a lot of different supplements, but in the end everything heard and found out really didn't make any difference when it comes to snakes. I guess they get all they need in a live or frozen rodent, so we don't use anything anymore. Hope this helps, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • im not sure if u got this comment and im sorry about so many comments from me but should i feed my ball python while shes shedding? sincerly, Mathew

  • No problem at all, I normally skip feeding when they are in shed. A lot of the time they don't want to feed anyway. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • Yeah, we do the same with most of our snakes. (Although, I do have a couple who wanna eat anyway. I'll give them a smaller rodent).

Brian, It was so ironic to hear you talking about the mice suffering ... while hearing them squeek at the same time.

The worst for me is hearing pinkies squeek since they usually get swallowed live.

I'm thankful that all my guys are "happy" with frozen/thawed. (But some of mine REALLY SEEM to LOVE "the hunt!) SO, I treat them to "a hunt," occasionally.

  • I know it is kind of wierd. I guess what a I mean is we try our best to not make them suffer before they are getting fed off. The snakes need to feed and some of ours will only take live?? I don't like it, but it's the way it is:) Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • wat do u do if there are any live mice left over that werent eaten??

  • We have holding cages for our extra live rodents. They are really nice cages. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • when feeding you snakes arent u woried that they will swallow substrate and die?

  • Of course you have to always be careful, but in the 20 years I've been doing this I have never had a snake get impacted by ingesting shavings. Hope this helps. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • How about from "sand?" (Or do you keep any of your snakes in sand? Sorry, I haven't paid THAT much attention) ;)

I've got a couple of hognoses who LOVE digging around in the new sand I've given them (it's the "digestible calcium sand"). I'm hoping it won't cause any kind of problems.

Any opinions of that? :) Thanks again!

  • Thank you very much

  • Hi I have no idea what sex my ball python is. Can you help me? And do you think my snake would have a hard time switching to live mice? It eats frozen/prekilled mice right now. Thank you =)

  • It's always better to feed frozen if you can, just better for the snake. As for the sexing, we did a sexing vid you can check out. You probably will need some help from someone who knows how to sex snakes. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • wooooooooooow i cant imagine feeding alll those snakes.

  • Poor mice :'(

  • hey brian i was wondering i ve had a corn snake fro about a year and i got another 3 weeks oga and its about 15 inches and my other 1 is like 2 and a half feet so i was wondering wen cud i take it in and to find out the sex and wen i can put my new 1 in with the bigger 1 thx

  • You can get it sexed right away. I would just make sure there's not too big of a size difference between them. You don't want the bigger one to crush the smaller one or something. Other then that I think it's not a problem at all. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)

  • is it true once a ball eats rats thats wat it sticks wit for life cuz i have a mice eating female which iam trying to get up to 1500grm so i can breed her to my spider but she only eats mice how many mice shud i feed her a week

  • Ball Pythons do like to stick to certain food, but you can get them to switch most of the time. Depends how big your Ball Python is as far as how much to feed. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • she,s about 1100 grms so how many mice shud i feed her like 5 at one feeding a week?

  • You could feed her about that many, maybe even a few more if you really want to get her big. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)

  • at 0:40 are you sposed to leave the snake skin in there?

  • During the breeding season we leave shed to judge when to breed the snakes. Hope that helps, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • Hey, i live in the UK, And i was wondering whats best for a beginner something like a bearded dragon or something like a corn snake? One of my friends has a fat tailed gecko or something but they run to fast! I would like a reptile that like human company or is less likely to attack a human. Thank You - SnakeByte Rules! :)

  • Thanks for the support on the show! I think that Bearded dragons are great pets and would be a great choice for a lizard, if you're going with a snake I would say either a cornsnake or a ball python would be your best choice. Good luck and thanks again! Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • Thanks mate, could you give me some info on corn snakes and ball pythons? Do they get aggressive also how long should you leave handling your snake if it's just been fed, and can you give me some useful links on ball python or corn snakes thanks alot! Blake

  • I would say ball pythons. Corn snakes are VERY easy to lose because they're so tiny. Ball pythons are bigger, and much, much calmer. They also become neck massagers much faster than corn snakes.

So, when it comes to Ball Python VS Corn, I'd go for Ball Python.

  • are your corn snakes accustomed to eating frozen? And also how big are the ghost corn snakes if i bought one today, do you guys ship to connecticut.

  • We have baby Ghost corns that are feeding on frozen thawed now and we do ship to your state. We use Fedex and it goes right to your door. You can check everything out on my website: bhbreptiles (.com) Thanks, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)

  • Do you know with a rough estimate how much shipping is to Southern Connecticut for a Ghost Corn?

  • It's about $60 to your door. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • do you guys only sell snakes?

  • Mainly snakes, but we do some Bearded Dragons, and some geckos. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)

  • Lori finally let you get your gecko room? lol

  • Not a room, but a few geckos.lol

  • haha, a few is better than none i suppose. sorry about all the question but what are some leopard geckos you have? im thinking about breeding my hypo tangerine carrot-tail but i dont know what with. i want some odd looking babies =P.

  • how do u get an adult nude mouse... and do u watch ur snakes eat to make sure everything goes down safley well for the snakes... lol

  • When my corn moves up to mice that can bite(she is a baby that eats pinkys), I would like her to eat fresh mice. What is a humane method for killing rodents? One that isn't messy.

  • hey do u guys watch the snakes eat the live prey just in case the snake has a bad strike aand the live mouse wont cause any damage to it

  • you ever get bit by mice or rats, i get bit almost everytime by feeder mice

  • Yeah I get bit by mice and rast too much. I would much rather get bit by a snake, it doesn't hurt as much:) Brian(snakeBytesTV)

  • wow i never would have thought that lol

  • thanks for this awesome videoSnakeBytes, but can we see the snakes while taking

    shit/throwing up

  • yer apperently they passed a law that stops you from feeding veterbrate to other animals in this case a pet snake because they feel pain, pretty stupid

  • Yeah it doens't make sence that you can kill them and freeze them and then feed them off. Like they don't feel pain when being killed by humans?? Politicians! lol BRian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • like you show in your vids some snakes only eat live and in england it is illegal to feed live mice to snakes. so sometimes i have to force feed it, which i really hate, is there any way you could get it used to frozen/thawed?

  • I really don't understand that law?? There are some Ball Pythons that just won't feed on anything but live. I don't understand why you would protect a live mouse and hurt a snake?? What's even dumber is that you can kill the mouse ansd then you can feed it??? It's really too bad. Just keep trying. Brian(SnakeByesTV)

  • There are UTH at 3:10 in this video?

So y'all just take them off the rack and stack them so you can feed them?

  • Yah those racks are boxes that just get stacked, most of our racks are sliders. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • i know its kinda meen but its fuuny u put the mice in then like five seconds lata after u closed it i herd it cry

  • I know it's kind of sad in a way?? But the snakes have to eat?? Thanks for watching! Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

  • This is my favorite episode!!And what is your favorite ball python morph?I'm guessing its your caramel albino pinstripe??IDK you always talk about it though=]

  • Thanks! I'm not sure what's my favorite morph?? I like so many of them I think it might be hard to narrow it down??? I do like that caramel Pin though.lol Brian(SnakebytesTV)

  • hey brian i love the show i have a mountian king snake and the other day i was handeling her and her mouth opened on the palm of my hand i didnt get bit but i think it might be that i have very fair skined hands and she thought i could have ben a pinkie thanks cole

  • It's possible?? Had you been handling anything that might have smelled like food to her?? Glad you didn't get bit, we get nailed enough:) Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
