  • hahaha good interview very funny

  • 5:24

He gives the "What a fucking idiot" look.

  • haha thats too funny

  • The man is a GENIUS. LLLOLOOLOOOOOLL

  • americans u re lucky for that men are on tv shows like rockstars.good thing

  • @esraretin

Maybe. But we are aslo unlucky that rockstars are on tv like they are moviestars.

  • @chadd990 yes im also unlucky that im not a famous person

  • Comment removed

  • Thank god the wave only hits USA.

  • This guy is awesome. He understands the game, and the audience.

  • harland williams is a fucking idiot.

  • HAHAHAH I LOVE HOW HE KEPT THE FEATHER

  • I love Harland Williams, but if he and Neil DeGrasse Tyson were bookends of intelligence, just about everyone would fall somewhere between the two. I just like to think I'm closer to the DeGrasse Tyson end.

  • @triton2toro

i think harland's smarter than people give him credit for. it's not easy to PLAY an idiot you know.

  • @Robstailey Yeah that's true. How bout instead it's the 'persona' Harland plays that's I'm referring to.

  • @Robstailey

    smarter than the interviewer

  • @boliusb ahaha not funnier though

  • @TheGreatDeciever55

    what's funny about the interviewer?

  • Not neceesarily in this interview but people with the ability to make others laugh are gifted with a certain intelligence im sure even you dont possess....ask yourself how funny you are? You can always tell how perceptive and aware a person is based upon their affinity to humor---its an observational art capable of transcending every race culture ethnicity..... a man capable of putting people at ease in social circumstances has a form of intelligence more useful indaily life than astro-physics

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 I agree with your statement. Someone ability to humor other can be seen as a measure of their intellect. Not every intellectual is a funny person, but every humorous person, is an intellectual on some level.

I have met some truly clueless and dumb people, and everyone of them, with out exception is not funny.

  • @Robstailey He isn't more intellectual than Dr. Tyson. That's for sure. On the contrary, acting skills do take manipulation that many people cannot do with the intellect of knowing how to do it. They are in two different realms of profession. You cannot compare intellect in that regard.

  • Telstar and Neil deGrasse Tyson! Yes, yes, yes!

  • I believe that a persons' soul is not bound by the laws of physics, so if you died falling into a black hole your soul would not be affected by the gravity it could leave and reincarnate or do whatever souls do after the body dies.

  • @Zurround100 You believe without any facts backing you up. You believe in a soul. What you believe about it after that doesn't mean anything until you can backup your belief in a soul with falsifiable data.

  • @ShoeUnited well IF a soul exists then there is no way a spiritual entity like a soul can be affected by gravity so if we live in a universe where sentient beings have souls and are subject to reincarnation then if a person dies by falling into a black hole the gravity would not prevent reincarnation.

  • @Zurround100 Quid Pro Quo: show me evidence of a soul. Until then you have nothing to discuss. Otherwise I can make up things about a soul and they are equally valid since there's no ground rules on what a soul is and how it functions. You still haven't got past point one, sir.

  • IF IT HAPPIENS ILL BE 51 ON APRIL 13 2036 SO WHO CARES

  • @johnnynthng Most of us should care....since we're going to be alive then.....

  • @johnnynthng Not happening, it's gonna pass by us, don't know how closely.

  • tyson has great ways of describing hard to think about stuff.

  • I've just noticed - doesn't Neil sound like Seth Rogen? No?

  • @aiyic sounds smart?

  • I know that it's totally off topic and might seem demeaning, but Dr. Tyson turns my lady garden into a rain forest. Brains, humor and those lips......mmmmmmm!

  • @ciaochowbella It took me a minute to get that. I like that metaphor.

  • @ciaochowbella rain forest ........ mmmmmmmmm !!

  • @italoirish888 I am just glad he is doing the work he is doing :)

  • @italoirish888 Sports won't take the human race across the stars.

  • @Pilaf1984 LOL sports wont even cure any diseases. whenever a child is terminally ill, they get an athlete to beg for money so SCIENTISTS can research a cure. thats about as far as sports players go in the scientific fields.

  • @Pilaf1984

Well, there was a race to the moon. That could be thought of as a sport.

  • @Pilaf1984 Tell that to Flash Gordon. lol

  • @italoirish888 By being a genius yet wasting that talent in basketball or w.e. with all their bs and drama, now whats a waste of talent.

  • @italoirish888 I hope you're a troll. Having a mind like Neil's and wasting it on something as worthless as sports would be the true waste of a gift.

  • lmaooo

  • Is that other guy mentally ill?

  • "We're gona get RIGHT on that!" hahha

  • Two of my favorite people ever :)

  • Comment removed

  • "happy birthady to me ! " hahahaha

  • the man has style

  • FIX THAT MOON GOD DAMN IT!

  • After 2012, it's 2037. Yipee.

  • Don't worry. The same people working on the economy are working on finding a way to deal with the asteroid.

  • this is great great great great

  • 3:58 I love being Canadian. Toronto 77 meters above see level. Suck to be you guys below that=P

  • Wow, Harland.... that was epic. X-D Bravo.

  • Lol, I wonder if he ever fixed the moon

  • NDT is pretty damn tall huh? Same height as Conan

  • did he enter to the porno holocaust film theme song?

  • "why don't we make a black cork?"

"....r u aware of what show your on right now?"

    roflmao

  • conan talks too much....he should give the guest more of a time to talk....damn

  • We don't have a moon guy. Hahahahaha

  • NDT is normally mighty quick with an ad lib, but the "black cork" thing just left him at a loss. I cracked up!

  • ha such a juxtaposition of mediocrity and brilliance in the two guests

  • @Pwntology idd. and now they even made a official bieber theme for w7... THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

  • homer simpson got sucked by a black hole that way.

  • how is Rocket Man not paying attention!

  • Love you, Mr. Tyson. Keep up the best work!

  • Scientists and engineers should have a place in Hollywood. That isn't impossible.

  • farting

  • Neil Tyson is awesome.

If we make it to 2036 without destroying ourselves, I'm going to look up at this comet and smile as it passes us by.

  • was there any more interviews with neil on conan?

  • why don't we just make a black cork?

  • when he named his book death by black hole he kinda had an inside info on who the nest president would be

  • Chinless freak on the left.

  • @fartybumholes That's kenny, from half baked. He gets a pass.

  • Harland and Neil were the best two guests on Conan, and Conan is the best talk show host by a mile.

  • Conan looks weird without a beard.

  • I just can't get over how short Neil deGrasse Tyson appears while seated next to Conan....

  • a black cork!

  • the white guy seems like a jackass

  • Oh Harland William. He died the way he lived. God rest him.

  • @danzigjr I don't know what you're yammering about, Williams is alive and well. There's no humour in claiming someone is dead.

  • Well Tyson, if you have a black hole why don't you use a black cork.

    Hilarious joke.

If we slice through the space time fabric then what would we find? Could we have a bubble of space time isolated from the current space time?

Is space-time like steam above a boiling water. If that is the case what is water made of and what is heating it to evaporate and create space-time?

  • Next step : produce a hip-hop band based on science. Then do a featuring with the LHC crew. BITCH !

  • @etbadaboum whoa.. the "bitch" ending in caps really got your point across didn't it? hahahaha i mean as i was reading ur comment i was a bit bored until i got to that word.. Well done :)

  • Who the hell is that other guy? He looks like a turkey.

  • Wow i never knew how funny conan is. Im gona start watching this show

  • If there is one things that remains a constant, is Tyson's love for vests.

  • man conan actually let he speak...props...in other shows, they keep interrupting him.

  • Love when Conan interviews smart people.

  • conan the faggot

  • Legend.

  • Neil is soooo cool.

  • @DaSurge26: You have many unknown, unborn future science students rooting you on. Thats what I think while I'm going on my academic journey. :)

  • I like how there are guys like Neil who picked up where other popularizer's of science have left off. I compare him to guys like Carl Sagan who appeared on the Carson show and were responsible for inspiring many and guiding them towards the sciences. Its just good to know people like them still exist and hope more will arise in the future. I remain as of now just a student but perhaps one day I may become one myself.

  • neil is such a great speaker for explaining complicated astrophysics and/or quantum physics for the common person to understand.

  • Dr. Tyson didn't get the cork joke until 7:04

  • im amazed how conan throwssome really sensible questions.

  • @vhanhanzz Well yeah because Conan is smart. Did you know he went to Harvard?

  • @Ajhah + graduated with 'magna cum laude'

  • @Ajhah So did Gearge Walker Bush >_>.

  • @Ajhah Conan said it was the "Harvard school of Driving!"

  • @Ajhah Conan said it was the "Harvard school of Driving!"

  • @Ajhah He has a team of interns, some of whom do research. I'm pretty sure it's actually like "Hey, you should ask him these questions."

  • @Ajhah with a haircut like that, i would say so.

  • @Ajhah But so did Dubya.

  • @Ajhah So did Bill O'reilly. You can't explain that!

  • @alowfey Bill O'Reilly is a really smart dude. I'm not even going to deny that he is easily one of the biggest dicks ever televised but the guy is EXTREMELY effective at what he does. For example he utterly dominates ratings wise but perhaps this is more of an indictment on the average American and their TV habits.

  • @hippotoast Agreed that he is the best at what he does but that doesn't make him smart. It just shows how dumbed down the popular opinion is. Just like Justin Bieber music video is the most watched clip on youtube but that doesn't make him a musical genius. You don't have to be smart to win a popularity contest, you have to be appealing.

  • @alowfey You are exactly right that appeal is the number one consideration, but Justin Bieber is less of an individual than he is a product, concocted by a group of very capable songwriters, PR folks, marketers, businessmen etc whom I think could definitely be argued as being very intelligent individuals. I'm not celebrating Justin Bieber by the way, I think he is worse than the AIDS virus.

  • @hippotoast But back to O'Reilly being smart...how does this correlate from his popularity/effective trolling?

  • @machomovieman You think that having the highest rated new show for the past decade doesn't require intelligence? The guy is a master mind at garnering public appeal, he plays upon human emotions like a piano. He is the Chopin of reactionary, melodramatic pseudo-journalism.

  • @Ajhah that's where he made all his showbiz connections.

  • @Ajhah so did G. Dubleu :/

  • @Ajhah So did George Bush.

  • @Ajhah Bush went to Harvard. And Yale.

  • @doombuggy123 As a legacy, not for his intellect. Conan had to earn his way there, not rely on his scumbag relatives to get him in. And even then, the moronic scumbag Bush didn't bother to learn anything.

Unlike Conan--who had to maintain his grades to stay in.

    Welcome to reality.

  • @doombuggy123 ya but bush did poorly and got in with poor test scores because his daddy helped him

  • @doombuggy123 didnt he got kick out or drop out of it?

  • @Ajhah like Neil?

  • @Ajhah Did you also know that everything he says are from writers? And when Neil Tyson pays to have his book on the show, there will be questions set up to have the conversation entertaining, created by the writers? That's what Harvard gets you.

  • lol just learned something new, no crescent moon at night. One more nugget of info he has push into me small brain :P

  • Comment removed

  • after watching countless interviews of Neil deGrasse Tyson... I realized that he is very particular about his moon.

  • Neil's reaction at 5:25 is hilarious

  • Haha gotta love Neil but what on earth is he wearing! =)

  • @AduhAwas

He can wear whatever he wants. He's Neil deGrasse Tyson!

  • who is the guy sitting beside neil?????????????

  • @success4111 harland williams

  • @success4111 who cares?

  • Nice fucking waistcoat.

  • "What do you mean which one? The one moon!"

  • Fuck yeah Neil for president and conan for vice.

  • I've got his black cork right here.

  • conan and neil. best combo

  • Would be great to see Dr.Tyson be a regular on there

  • "what about a black cork" huuur me make funny joke.

  • I cry laughing every time I hear Harland

  • "We're gonna get right on that" lol

  • I have a Black Cork!

  • OMG I have the same phone!!

  • Neil is so awesome.

  • Tyson's outfit and those chairs make this look like a video clip from the 1980s. Yet this is from three years ago. This is surreal.

  • Informative, interesting and funny clip.

  • Neil is the coolest black man on the planet

  • Neil's the new Carl Sagan. Make americans love science again not the bible, guns and the GOP!

  • @xtrmsprts What a ridiculous thing to say. But he is a great frontman for science.

  • @xtrmsprts You really think a black man is going to turn the bible-thumpers?

  • @jek21 If not them at least he can arouse in their children a spirit of critical inquiry and scientific thought through t.v. shows like Carl did for my father, the son of a missisippi semi-racist christian farmer, who left the state and earned a masters in mechanical engineering and now we're anti-creationists, pro-science and anti-teabaggers.

  • @xtrmsprts That's good to hear. I really hope you're right. The love affair with ignorance in this country has to end.

  • @jek21 Yes, but it's vital for sane people to stand up and let their voice heard. That didn't happen last week when the Republicans roared into victory riding on a backlash wave of animal spirits. This sorta miscarriage of reason wouldn't have occurred had the reasonable took to the streets and voted with their gray cells.

  • @xtrmsprts Absolutely.

  • Awesome. I love how Conan really sounds interested in the subject matter and asks sound questions. Unlike other appearances Neil Tyson made where comedian talk show hosts sound like total idiots.

  • @yoshiyukiblade I've noticed that too. Everybody tends to act dumb as a defense mechanism when you tell them you're in science. It's just annoying.

  • @yoshiyukiblade thats what i've been searching for here on youtube and else where in the cosmos.. i mean internet.. Cause if you go to his website (Neil's) he has clips of him appearing on the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, and the Jay leno show.. and they all seem as interested as Conan was.. you just might have a lil bit of bias towards Conan cause of his Gingerness hahaha jk :)
