  • em bought me here

  • I was about 15/16 when this album came out. The song Eat 'Em Up L Chill just popped into my head, so I looked it up on Youtube for a quick recap. This i a classic album and still sounds fresh today. I've got it on vinyl somewhere, probably all scratched up and wrottingin my Mum's garage no doubt.

Anyhoo's, I'm off to Amazon to pick up a CD/digital copy. Look out for a 37 year old white male pumping it out on the stereo in depths of Walthamstow, UK.

  • @captaincalski pump it loud and proud man...

  • Those garbage magazines are the only place where people start rumors that have enough exposure to give the illusion of legitamcy, thats why i brought those up

However I've heard enough LL freestyles and music overall to just come out and just strip him of credibilty over your word. Especially when no one for over 2 decades said anything. When Jay and LL were close to battle for real a couple of years ago, you would think j\Jay would of hinted at as much in some form or fashion, but he didnt?

  • Not many people knew that LL only wrote Jingling baby on this album. All the other songs were written by ghost writers. You can tell by the listening to the flow from that track compared to the rest of the album. One of the ghost writers went by the name of S.Carter. (little gem for the fans)

  • @broli28 NO

This is how you know hip hop is dead, when peoples knowledge of the game is based on rumors, ignorance, xxl and other garbage suppossedly representing hip hop. Cats now fall for any rumor, the internet has been around long enough that were getting a new gen of kids that are dumb enough to believe any rumor.

Gem for the fans...please.......more like misleading

  • @omeganaphtali How you figure? This is not a rumor. check your sources my friend. Or do you have the same accsess to information that I had at the time? I'm not new to this You don't know what or who I know. "Source magazine", XXL? Really? Thats Hip hop to you? I hope not. I'm a fan of this here. I'm a veteran of this and I respect it totally. Ignorance? is that a jab? Nice try. Here's another Gem...Don't always believe what you see on the inside of the albums. Thats why theyre called ghosts.

  • @broli28 not sure about that one....The Jingling Baby had the 89 flow..On the remix....Marley scratched the vocs.....Marley took over and told him to stop the screaming style and get w/ that Kane flow....u can tell he listened to a lotta Kane though..also it was the same with Mr Smith....there was an original album but Lyor had him scratch the whole album and get Trackmasters....same with Exit 13...there was an original one that 50 helped him produce but they scratched it cuz it sounded like 50

  • @taylor4660 I thoroughly respect your thoughts on this Family, however, what I'm saying is fact. Jingling baby was actually written and released before the "Mama said knock you out" album.LL did write that song but the rest of the album was written by ghost writers like i stated before. I wouldn't make this up. and this isn't a "rumor" on my end. the problem is, is that people read what i wrote and just write it off as that. I'm to old for gossip. But you do seem to know your history though Fam.

  • @broli28 and after 25 years, this hasn't been exposed not even one slip of the tounge, working on new flows, and taking tips from others to create newer sound perhaps, ghost writers....gonna need more than youtube internet comments.Funny where were these ghost writers when LL was 16 during the radio era when hip hop was just comin out and their was no real money in the game at that time. LL was mentored by Silverfox along with kool g rap.

  • @omeganaphtali Why would it be exposed? Can you imagine what would happen if people found out that some of their favorite artist didnt write their own lyrics? this is actually very common in all walks of the industry; i know you know that. Why would LL broadcast that? there's nothing to expose because it was in plain view for people to read. please do your homework and get back to me. LOOK ON THE INSIDE OF THE ALBUM FAM! Many artist are behind the scenes before they're in the lime light.

  • @broli28 this is true but I WAS IN THE STUDIO WITH LL DURING THE RECORDING OF MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT ALBUM (my uncle was one of the engineers on this album) ! LL very much did indeed & still does write his rhymes so i don't where you get that information from....keep in mind that this is also the dude who wrote MC Lyte's part for "Self-Destruction"....DID YOU KNOW THAT ?

  • @lawplanet12 Never said that LL did not write his rhymes on other tracks, I was just making a point on this album. But you need to holla at me on my personal page fam. Who's your uncle? It may be a small world; you know what I'm sayin?

  • @lawplanet12 only a hand full of mc can be cocidered the best and l.l is one....on doubt

  • @omeganaphtali I heard that one....Mikey D from LA (lAURLETON) Posse at one point claim LL stole his flow...Mikey has that 86 LL flow stilll..

  • @broli28 He may have gotten coached on flows.....Nas coached Will Smith on Just Cruisin...

  • @broli28 Yes Jingling Baby was on the walking with the panther album..

  • @taylor4660 the remix was on this album

  • @Andre30001968222 yeah Marley scratched the track and added Scorpio by Dennis Coffey and Walking Into Sunshine by Central Line....that remix saved his career..

  • I agree. This was LL's hardest diss for sure. To me this was LL's prime. I respect his whole career and that niggas a straight up legend. But as an MC, this was him at his strongest and most comfortable.

  • Jason From Miami

  • What's the song before 15 seconds please ?

  • WHERE IS THIS LL COOL J?

I remember listening to this nigga all day, having all the albums & remix singles, now he's a washed up pervert. This nigga used to be a lryical fireman. Album after album. Why did the great MCs allow these fake ignorant fools to take over & destroy rap? Why didn't niggas like him, KRS & Rakim step up to the plate & put these little kids in their place?

  • @DWIWindsands cause KRS is a school teacher in harlem now.

  • "I daze and amaze, my display's a faze

Every phrase is a maze as Uncle L slays"

    Really he eat them all.

  • good idea thats a great beat to put in the front

  • sick beat, awesome lyrics. Scratch marks under the tears of a clown...

  • LL COOL J "EAT EM UP L chill" !!! one of my favorite songs of all time!! Bring back memoriews.

  • 1 person was the victim of what mama told Todd to do

  • He can make a hard track, or a song for the ladies, he has never fell off, always able to reinvent himself. Definitely one of the G.O.A.T

  • Gotta love Mr. Cool J

  • in my opinion,"mama'' was cool j's last good album

  • @rwrite1 nah no way, he's had others since then....Exit 13....G.O.A.T., Mr.Smith were all good albums...take a listen...dude is a legend for more than what he did in 1990 and before..lol

  • @hiphoplegend1 he's most def a legend.i'm just sayin that as an album i can listen to from begining to end,"mama" was his dopest to me.his other albums had good songs but i don't think they were solid from start to finish.

  • @rwrite1 there aren't many hip-hop artists who exist without at least 1 skip songs on their albums man, Cool J has set his bar so high that I guess he isn't allowed to have any skip songs or dud albums...that just proves my point about how nice dude really is man, no one would be surprised in the least if Lil Wayne or Fabolous had some skip tracks on their albums, that shit would be expected from them...Cool J is the man, no doubt about it now!

  • @rwrite1 idk about that. i thought "mr.smith" was pretty dope.

  • @rwrite1 I'm Guessing you aint heard of the album G.O.A.T, Mr.Smith, 14 Shots to the Dome or Exit 13 XD. Well Mama said knock u out most likely is his greatest albums, and i know its your opinion, but if you listen in to his later things you'll see that his still really Tight and lyrically on Top. This is my opinion ;)

  • @rwrite1 what about 4 3 2 1

i thought his last good 1 was g.o.a.t

  • man this shit is hot

  • I might be wrong, but i think a ghost writer named Sean Carter wrote this song. This was my shit back in High School!

  • Lol LL is killin it!!!

  • Pure talent.

  • LL only problem was tryin to keep up wit the jones if he would have faded into the back after mama said people would remember him more like this'' then the more mature but young kats look at him like he's soft for all his smooth song..

  • @rodney1b I hear you man. Juts to offer a diferent perspective, LL is a rapper first and foremost. As he develops as a man he's gonna rap about different shit and it's natural for people to become a softer character as they grow older. Look at 50 cent, Jay-Z, Eminem, they're kinda the same.

  • man im a young kid, i dont like LL now but listening to his old skool u can see why people spoke about this dude like wow.

  • If Moe Dee was honest he'd tell this was the track that ate at him the most. Moe Dee kept claiming that while LL made great records he was inferior lyrically. LL shows here that he is lyrically on another planet. "You're not complete. Im battling a fragment."

  • TISK,TISK GOD BLESS YA CHILD

  • This was the bizness, 8th grade.

  • CHILL, CHILL!!

    EAT EM UP L!!

    THATS MY ISH...

  • hell yeah!

  • This brings back lots of memories, thanks for uploading.

Young kids don't understand rap, LL was the man!

  • @Fenkyou yes we do get updated with todays rap. you cant tell other people to like everything you like
