My favourite game music of all time. 3rd gen for the fucking win. It was "modern", interface was easier, nice colors, nice new pokemon, at the same time it had that classic pokemon feeling. And the music, oh god. I respect pokemon Emerald. What wouldnt I give to turn the time back and relive these moments.

I think what makes us love the 3rd gen music so much is that it was the first time we had ever heard great pokemon music on a handheld that wasnt in 8-bit. The new sound included so much variety by the bass and high pitch blend. Great stuff. I will always remember when I first put ruby into my GBA and a new magic to pokemon had been made.

Red and Green/Blue were released in 1996, FireRed and LeafGreen were released in 2004.

I wouldn't really call it a tradition, and I'm hoping it doesn't become one. Ruby and Sapphire came out in 2003, and I don't want to wait until 2013 for my favorite pokemon games to be remade!

@Bubbiea I hate to say it, but of all the Pokemon soundtracks, I liked RSE's the least. Some of the tracks were outstanding, but something about the soundfont just rubbed me the wrong way. I also don't like how every battle theme had the exact same intro, heard from 0:03 to 0:13. EVERY battle theme used that melody, and it just irked me for whatever reason.
