Anyone who has some knowledge on hardware ? I want to get a new PC.. and i want to focus on 3D modeling / rendering power... I know rendering is a long process.. but every bit helps right :)

such amazing videos!! I have always been a fan of computer animation! I find it the most amazing art thanks to technology If I wanted to start creating such graphics ho can I start? can you give advice? ..like what programs do you guys use and how much are they?! thanks xD

if you dont want to pay much money get Blender 2.55 ......

its now pretty good....there are many software: cinema4d,3ds max,maya...

but they coast thousands€.

but there are education versions that coasts something like 100€.

But I recommend to start with blender.there are many tutorials on youtube and there are too video trainings.

@benett0n Siggraph! It's kind of an expo almost of various companies in the Multimedia industry.

Nvidia, Autodesk, (I think Ati aswell), they all attend, and make some kind of presentation speech about what their working on.

Some industry professionals like one year when I went to it through the University I studied at, they had a special effect supervisor, from ILM doing a speech about what he does in his job and the way ILM have 80% of the market for special effects in the film industry.

I laugh when kids today complain it isn't real-time when they generate this! Back in the early '80s when we were inventing this stuff @RPI & others, it took us 20 _HOURS_ on a mainframe/mini to generate _1_ frame! (24/sec) lol Problem was, it would crash every _18_ hours, so we made all backgrounds black & nothing in the bottom 2 inches, so the 18hr image was usable. (no electronic video formats back then, we put a movie camera in front of the monitor & single-framed it in a darkened room! 8-)

@becromeo Haha yeah same here...it's my first time going to SigGraph in LA so I'm super excited. My first time going was last year in New Orleans and that was amazing and from what I hear this year is supposed to be bigger and better!
