the last time that i saw michael owen naked was in the man united changing room last season, at carrington. I was there with liverpool's youth team and he invited me into the changing room for a chat after his morning in the gym. I used to get on really well with michael owen when he was a youth team player at liverpool. After every away game the youth team coach at liverpool - dave shannon would always be in the showers with michael and the rest of the lads.

You're definitely not English, otherwise you'd be aware that Owen has never scored more than 16 goals in a season, a pittiful tally for a player that does nothing but goal hang. He's not even in the top 100 all time best goal scorers.

I stand corrected. the most he's ever scored in the LEAGUE is 19. Bearing in mind he was the penalty taker in those seasons, that's not that impressive. Also, he's the 8th all time prem top scorer, not the 7th, considering this is his 14th season that's even less impressive. The rest of his record is made up against shit opposition in the EUEFA & coca cola cups.Think about it, how many times can you recall Owen scoring against the domestic or european Big guns in BIG games? Not that many.

-Fowler was the penalty taker first, then Gerrard
-it's his 13th premiership season, 10th complete one.
-he has most hat-tricks in Champions league history with 3, he also has 14 goals in just 20 starts.
-of 195 goals scored for English clubs, 150 were Premiership or Champions league goals.

Also, hes only played 30 fucking games in the champions league! None of the top 20 scorers has played less than 46, and only 3 in the top 20 have played less than 60. how could you expect him to be anywhere near the top of that list?

Besides, look at the players who AREN'T on that list :- Torres, Drogba, Cantona, Rooney, Hughes, Klinsman, Bergkamp.

This is a vague shadow of the teenager that exploded into our lives in the late nineties. He's lost about 10 yards of pace, which is the reason he was so good.

Needs a run of games before any judgement can be made, no older or slower than Henry, Inzaghi, Nistelrooy and is just as good a finisher. Look at Solskjaer in '07 back from injury, could barely walk but got us 13 goals and the league that year.
Fuck what I just said, the goal against city makes him better than that fat judas corned beef face ever was for us.

I would just like to say that I take back everything what I have said in critisism about Michael Owen
Apart from injuries he is the best English striker on the planet.
His goal scoring CV is second to none.
After feining this injury he will go onto beating Eric Cantona and George Best for recognition in the archives of Man Utd`s history of being the greatest signing Sir Alex Ferguson has made.

How can Rooney be good enough on his own when missing Ronaldo who scored an average of 30 goals a season and Tevez who would have scored more if he had played.
Finally no one said Owen was an old man but if you did your homework on him you would realise that with his history of injuries he is at the stage of his career where he is a more of a liability than a probability.

It is difficult to shake the view, much as you want to resist it, that MO is probably going to be plagued by this for whatever remains of his career. Good luck to him in this latest setback, because at face value he was and is a prodigious talent, and potentially could have been one of the greatest strikers this country has ever produced. Perhaps a 'bench' option in future, or is that being unfair?
