The UK office season 1 was awesome.

The rest of US seasons 2 onwards were amazing! they made it their own show and i love it! I'm from UK btw! US shows really get the characters and portray it a lot better. For example, David Brent was an idiot and you could never feel sympathy. Michael Scott is an idiot but sometimes you actually feel for him and that's what you need in a lead character and thats where the US trumps us every time with shows like House etc. LOVE THIS SHOW!

@draussie Well first i'm Canadian, and second i've seen the uk version of the office and pretty much all of Ricky Gervais' work which is all good but there is barely any character development in the office uk and it's all just meant to make you feel awkward watching it, which it does. The american version is just as good, if not better . Steve Carrell is a better actor then Ricky in everyway, just puts so much more emotion into the character. This is just funny cause it's not like stanley at all

It was designed to make u laugh at awkwardness & Gervais puts the awkwardness into the scenes that makes u want to laugh. I doubt u have seen the whole series of the real office. The whole crew r way better than the American spinoff. Sorry, when it comes to comedy UK is funnier. Take a real poll & u will c.

Go google it if you don't believe me. There are a number of successful comedies that ended up with a US version.
