If it's a depressing film, it was supposed to be. It's based on a real crime that happened at the height of a hedonistic decade. Liberation and freedom don't mean you can't be cautious. This happens to prostitutes and college kids all the time. We just don't want to hear about it. You never know how twisted your lover really is and when you pick up strangers, it could be the last time you're seen alive. This girl was butchered. Tragic.
Beautiful opening title sequence, disappointed in the film, it was very 70's tv style very disjointed and the end was..unintentionally humorous in its execution. Quite sure it was effective in the 70's.
@CrassMufumbu i gotta empathize with u, i was watching the whole thing waiting for whatever the hell the resolution was going to be and then there's that whallop of an ending and im thinking damn this movie sucked so bad and they didnt know how else to end it other than... but yeah im with u in view of the decade and time it came out, this movie would have been a pretty significant product of its time, the druggin' and sexin' and youth trying to make sense of a f'd up time
Great opening to a fabulous movie. An overlooked treasure of 70s art and culture. A frightening, yet unsettlingly seductive film. Diane Keaton played this role very straight. None of the befuddled awkwardness she often puts in her roles. And Richard Gere's krav maga moves in the jock strap must be the sexiest thing ever filmed.
Seriously excellent title sequence. Whatever else you thought about the movie, the titles said it all: that surge of excitement at the beginning of a night out and then the stayed-too-long blur of too late a night. Thanks for posting.
Perhaps the perfect movie title sequence; it says everything about the movie that the movie tried to convey: that sense of danger and then resignation when the night goes on way too long. When everyone was prettier at 2AM. Wow.. I saw this when I was 17 and never forgot it. Thanks for posting.
