  • Wow, I didn't notice when he changed guitars!! They both sound the same. Who needs a Strat and/or Gibson when you can get the sounds of both in a PRS.

I bought a PRS SE Orianthi Signature (paid $625CAD) a few years ago and my son came by and started playing with it. I was in another room and heard some sweet jazz-like tones, then some heavy metal... (a few minutes pause, switch sounds and test notes)... WTF! I thought Billy Gibbons was in my living room!!

My son now wants a PRS.

  • PRS swam ash special fan here

  • Both great guitars in their own way.

Some less expensive guitars play really well.

  • SpringNO works fine in PRS and Fender guitars.

    You could try it.

  • Why on earth would you compare 2 guitars while using a heavy wah that will mask everything?

  • These 2 guitars can not be compared... They are sooo different

  • I've been using my PRS Tremonti for about 2 years, playing melodic death metal. Favorite guitar I've owned. I'd prefer a slightly thinner neck, but still, the way it is now is great. I've been running through a Line 6 Spider 4 since they came out, and the sound just kicks ass.

  • PRS SE isn't a PRS...

  • Sorry

  • Stupid asshole ;)

  • i can do anything with my strat :P but i like prs too

  • PRS. I can't play Death Metal on a Strat. And yes I've tried :P

  • you can't exactly compare a fender to a prs

  • PRS.

  • Don't be hostile because you paid too much for your guitar. My American Deluxe Strat was the nicest guitar I've ever had and I only paid $600 for it. There are a lot of people out there who buy something and brag about how infallible it is because they need to justify the cost. It's like an inexperienced wine connoisseur paying thousands for a 100 year old bottle of wine only to open it and find that it's vinegar. I've played the McCarty II. It's nice, but I probably won't buy one.

  • @autumnwake Weird I paid the same for my American Deluxe and no PRS I've played even comes close to it especially since I swapped out those piece of shit N3s for a set of custom shop 69s

  • Strat is ok, PRS rocks!!!

  • Tell me how many guitar greats play with a Paul Reed Smith?

    A few right.

Now how about the classic stratocaster?

The tone can't be matched OR surpassed. Enough said

  • PRS VERSES FENDER?! Really, is there any doubt that a PRS could kick a Fender any day? What this should be is PRS verses something like Godin.

  • Last weak I've played a PRS and a Strat but I felt the Strat Sucked and the PRS Rocked

  • i own both the Strat is the guitar for me i put noiseless humbuckers on mine and it screams its much funkier guitar to me im selling my prs

  • i know youre gonna hate but single coils rule!!! clean tones FTW!!!

  • PRS- Versatility

    Fender Strat- One trick pony...

Dont get me wrong...i love strats, but next to a PRS or a guitar with humbuckers, its a no contest

  • @TrippyTheShroom Apparently you've never played an American Deluxe Strat with stacked Noiseless pickups and the Atomic Humbucker in the bridge position. The ones about 5yrs old also have the S-1 switching for more versitility. That's 10 different switch configurations instead of rhe standard 7! Just give one a try!

  • How is this even a contest? lol

  • The wood in these guitars cost about 50 dollars. If you want one of these guitars, go online and purchase them from overseas for less than 3 hundred dollars. All you will have to change are the pickups when you get them. Don't be ripped off by Paul Reed Smith, no guitar on planet earth is worth even over 10 thousand dollars, don't let these foolish people make a fool out of you and steal from you by way and means of price gouging.

  • @moseseseseses the 10,000 dollar PRS guitars have to be custom ordered and contain much higher end materials, the actual PRS guitars for around 2000-4000 dollars are we worth the money, plus, overseas they are being built by people who are much less detail oriented and are much more likely to have a mistake in the already lower quality build.

  • sorry everyone, i was pretty ignorant 8 months ago, i have just realized that the neck posish on a strat and a nice clean or dirty channel is one of the sweetest things ever

  • WOW a demo of a Wah Wah pedal with it'self. Cool

    Big Ron

  • After trying Gibsons, I got a Fender MIM Strat. Eventually installed Dimarzio pickups, Fender Schaller tuners, Wilkinson Gotoh VSVG bridge, Dimarzio Pots, brass mass, etc etc. Almost 500+ invested. On an auction at a local music store I've got my Hamer SATQ with Duncan Designed pickups for $233 brand new. I felt in love with my Hamer in every way. I'm selling my fenders now. Lesson learned; choosing your instrument is something spiritual, big names were not important in the end.

  • FENDER AND GIBSON ARE OVER-PRICED! Both manufactorers create a decent guitar. But they make you pay out the ass for them because they know they can. Its a status symbol. Its the player not the guitar!

  • I'm always amused by the metalhead Fender haters.. There's probably been more iconic music, metal included, recorded on Fender guitars than any other guitar maker. Listen with your ears, not your eyes...

  • @FreshPowderInCO Finally someone with a working brain. Strats all the way man...

  • @FreshPowderInCO .....Fender has been around longer...THATS WHY.....GIBSON Beat-um All!

  • @GasserGlass That's why? That's why when I go to theatres, clubs, bars, etc, or see prof. musicians on stage, I would guestimate 50% of the guitars are Fenders, 50% everyone else combined. Because they've been around the longest? Listen, I love guitars. When I play, I grab one of my Fenders. You prob grab a Gibby. Someone else might play a PRS, Ibanez, Dean, Shecter, Hamer, Ric, etc. It isn't because Fender has been around longer. I stand by my orig stmnt. Listen with your ears, not your eye's.

  • @GasserGlass i own a fender n ur wrong gibsons good but uh yea PRS owns ;)

  • @GasserGlass ...your clueless

  • @FreshPowderInCO For all metalheads hating on Fenders i just have one thing to say: Iron Maiden!

  • I'm with you all the way..

  • @metalpride15 PRS is a toy for little boys who can't play clean. Look at the history of both guitars..

  • Censor my comments Huh? ASSHOLE

  • กุจะฟังเสียงณรู้เรื่องหรอ

    ไส่ดีเร อะ

  • PRS = Poor Man's Gibson Stuck in the 80's

    Strat has hit all genre's

  • @jmj5150 i think that would make PMGS....not PRS

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @jmj5150 correct me if im wrong...but most guitars are made of Basswood...John petrucci even has a few signature models made of basswood, its a very versatile type of wood actually...does that mean it sounds the best no, but its actually within budget for the normal working man which is what counts

  • I've owned both - a PRS covers a wider range of sounds and plays better. PRS has more of a Les Paul feel for the pick hand because there is more room between the strings and the body of the guitar, the vibrato system and locking tuners are awesome. But unfortunately this particular demo is dismal - its almost embarrassing that this player seemed to think the wah effect would somehow enhance the presentation. Dude...what were you thinking?

  • I don't understand this. If this is a comparison, where is the other guitar? And how do you compare things with heavily processed sound? What are you comparing?

  • with auto wah on, i can't tell the sound.

  • cannot even be compared.

  • What vs what, where, when? Lame!

  • Fender for me. I have always been a fan of them.

  • I know I'm going to get a lot of hate here, but that's not a PRS. It's a PRS SE. And I know you stated that in the description box. But, just sayin. Just like an epiphone, regardless of it's body style will never truly be a 'les paul'. It's just a les paul copy. Just as this isn't a PRS, its just a copy of a different guitar. It's not it's own entity, it's a copy. Again, just sayin. Still a great guitar though!

  • Fender is good for its crunchy distorted sound ,blues, soft rock and metal (sometimes) and also punk. The PRS is good for its heavy metal, distortion and stuff. You cant compare these 2 .It depends on your style of playing and your genre.

    Thumbs up if you agree!

    Gibson-Heavy Metal,Punk

    Fender-Blues,Crunchy tone,metal,Grunge,Soft rock

PRS-Heavy Metal and metal and metal

Yamaha-It is good for its all genres

    ESP-Metal and rock!!!!!

    KEEP ROCKING!!!!!

  • @FunnyMediaProduction do you know who is Carlos Santana? he is one of the best blues players in the world, and his signature is on PRS guitars...

PRS is not only for metal, its for EVERYTHING....

  • @teogt23 yea carlos santana .I like his songs smooth, black magic woman etc.Yea i agree with you.PRS better or fender or Ibanez?

  • @FunnyMediaProduction Ibanez... xD... but only the ones that arent GIO

  • with the 5 way rotary switch, the PRS has the same versatility as the strat with all the appeal of the les paul. and, with superior craftsmanship/materials to both the PRS will sound and play better than both. i really like fender and gibson. i HAVE OWNED strats, teles, a les paul, and an sg... i don't own them any more. i now own a custom 24 and a mccarty soapbar. and my next guitar will be a hollowbody PRS. i will never trade or sell these guitars. they are second to none and can do anything.

  • a prime lens (Gibson, Fender) is always better than a zoom (PRS)... that's why i dont care if PRS can do anything...I just wanna do only dirty hard rock and Gib is number one.

  • strat was my first guitar ever but prs was the guitar ive spent with for the past 8 years im 16 years so u know it hasnt been that long i use the prs for more of the screechy sound and the low string sound like they're high strings and thats what i like about it but the strat i love it for its ability to play such beautiful blues i guess imma go with prs cause its more manageable and can play in any kind tone

  • Al that wah effect is annoying. I admit you have talent but the tricks diminish it. As far as Mac vs PC, who cares. I make a living on a PC, Mac might be better but it doesn't matter, they are cheaper and easier to deal with.

  • a little less reverb but great playing

  • wha- wka-wha-wha-wha-wha-wha-wha-wha.........and whaaaaaa!!!

  • You really can't compare instruments that arn't in the same price range like this, i beat you'd prefer a PRS that was as expensive as the strat, I mean I know I would =)

  • ITS THE GUITARIST THAT MAKES THE MUSIC NOT THE GUITARS,EVERTHING ELSE IS JUST NOVELTY

  • Would have been nice to hear the guitars not the effects of Wah-Wah, ecHo & Reverb...

  • WAY TOO much wha

  • I love both

  • a strat is definately better for clean as whall a prs is better for harder stuff. enough said

  • The difference here is just pickups. Cheaper PRS wont have as good a set of pickups as an expensive Strat. Also a better PRS will be able to play hard rock music TONS better then a Strat. Strats really are genre specific guitars. Whereas guitars like PRS and Ibanez are very versatile.

  • why so much wah? is that you kirk hammet?

  • PRS is like Mac/Apple, simply better.

  • @CalenCoffman PRS is awesome.. but Macs suck ass. Invalid comment fail.

  • @KillinUrMans No, Macs are better than PC's, in the same way that PRS's are better than a Strat, but for the guitars it's more preference, but with the computers it's hands down. I believe that YOU fail here, not me. (I bet you own a PC...)

  • @CalenCoffman How are Macs better? Anything you can do a Mac you can do on a PC, but PC also has decent gaming compatibility, better data management systems, and Windows - which, in my experience, runs far better than the OS systems.

    Please, explain your claim.

  • @KillinUrMans Macs are SO much, in my personal opinion, (Which is apparently void in this debate.) easier to navigate, operate and use in general. While the layout at first may seem strange, (getting a little used to it by a Windows user is nessecary, once you get to know the operating system it just seems to run smoother. As far as your remark regarding the gaming, the market for Mac computer games is limited, I agree. The speed as far as I know depends on your internet connection.IRanOutOfRoom

  • @CalenCoffman I ran out of room in my comment up there... Sorry, but please reply.

  • Sweet playing man.

  • i learn with the strat but i dont play with the strat thats all imma say

  • prs can do anything

strats with singlecoils, not so much

  • @butterknucklez you mean to say that a cheap mass produced guitar with only 2 pickups has more tonal vaiation then a butifully crafted american made guitar with 3 pickups , 5 tonal positions and tone pots , i think you are severely wrong , the strat can do anything , the prs is quite limited in that it can really only do metal , jazz, shred and a cheap sounding blues !

  • @endurancemusic You have no idea what your talking about!! PRS Custom 22, 5 tonal poisitions 2 Pickups and look 1000 times better, PRS Soapbar somethine like that play amazing blues!!! Its just guys like you moaning coz of the Price!

  • @butterknucklez (Facepalm) Typical metal fan. If you actually owned a Strat and played around with your amp settings, you'd find out how useful a Strat is.

  • @danecook321 thats fuckin great man

    TANKS I APPRECIATE IT

    really

  • @butterknucklez I want a guitar that does one thing really good, then a guitar that does everything poorly.

  • @butterknucklez i find my strat can do blues, metal, funk, reggae, classic rock.......... so yeh strats can do any thing you want!

  • @lowbudgetmedia Especially the American deluxe with stacked Noiselss pickups and the Atomic humbucker in the bridge.

  • @butterknucklez Strats sound better clean from the factory. PRS might sound a bit better dirty. But really its what you want to do with the guitar. This video is pointless cause hes playing the guitar with effects You cant compare them like that

  • @butterknucklez PRS and Fender both make guitars with single-coils and humbuckers, so they have pretty equal versatility.

  • @butterknucklez PRS can do anything and nothing at all. You can't compare such shit as PRS to strat. Even in this movie, where they both sounds like shit (some kind of cheap guitar processor and wah).

  • @butterknucklez THAT PRS he's playing cannot do everything!

  • @butterknucklez

I have a fender strat...i can do anything with my guitar, when i use a guitar with only 2 humbuckers, i feel like a retard. I don't know that to do with just 3 pickup positions...Stratocaster has 5 pickups positions that's a lot of different sounds....but it's just a matter of taste i thing.

  • @DiomedesTididax haha sorry i was narrow minded a year ago

but some prs guitars have 2 humbuckers and 1 single coil and i think they can coil tap

  • @DiomedesTididax

Hell yes they can! THE 513 MAPLE TOP!! Enter PRS web site and u'll see it. Is the best guitar ever, the most versatile. I tested a couple days ago, and i still in shock. I'm planning to get it as soon as i can.

  • @butterknucklez i use humbuckers i used to use coils there both good though

  • @butterknucklez THIS WAS A YEAR AGO

    MY THOUGHTS HAVE CHANGED

  • PSR's are better made... and rarely have any factory defects (is wut i have heard) and has many different tones without even touching the amp... (that i know) strats are over priced!!!!!!

  • yeah CEs are that Korean crap, how can you compare with a real Strat?

  • @flowerdrop1 the CEs are made in the united states dumbass..... i think you're talking about the SEs.

and btw, even the SEs are not so bad. they're great for the price

  • does anyone know if all prs mccarty guitars have the bird inlay on the fretboard

  • PRS, if u want the best sound u have to try a american PRS Narrowfield

  • PRS

  • bc rich is where its at.....

  • PRS

  • what?

  • Once you dress up any of these axes with even the "average" amount of sonic coloration (effects pedals, preamps, amplifier characteristics, etc.) you could almost be playing a Walmart electric guitar as far as sonic comparisons are concerned. Now playability and feel are another thing altogether, but unfortunately you can't "get" that from a youtube video. It's funny how people try to compare electric guitars like they would compare nylon string classical guitars. Silly.

  • Comment removed

  • I wish Alex Lifeson would go back to strats. He's a PRS whore now.

  • both incredible guitars!!!! hard to make up my mind but definetly love the looks of the prs....i want one

  • Where is the fender strat?

  • you cant compare 2 guitars cause eveyone has his style his opinion =]

  • I bought the 60th Anniversary American Fender Strat as my first guitar (which was crazy), and have been playing it for 4 years... recently I bought a 25th Anniversary Modern Eagle II PRS. I must say that my PRS is of best quality compared to one of the best fenders. About the sound, by pulling the tone knob up, I can get a single-coil sound out of my PRS, but I must say it's no match to the strat, but the humbucking sound is great (I like it even more than a gibson), so it depends on the music.

  • too many effects for a "vs" video.

  • When you have grown up a little bit,I am sure your callous comment will seem not only rude and naive, you will realize that I I based my opinion on personal experience, and in no way tried to influence your adolescent mind, nor do I wish to inflluence others.I simply gave my input.Asshole punk!!Eat feces!

  • Thanks,bro1I had a beautiful PRS 10 top several years ago,and it was amazing!I sold it during hard times. My Strat ,however will always be my preferred instrument, but i still can say that I always prefer my 60 Relic Srat over any other guitar, even though it requires more skill to play well.I have been playing for 45 yrs.,by the way,and I believe I speak with some degree of knowledge.

  • prs!!!

  • I think the WahWah sound is horrible for showing a comparison of your guitars.

It didn't help me. I guess they are both fantastic guitars, but I would never have bought them after listening to this.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • @TomsRockHouse PRS is definitely better. I have owned both and i sold my fender! PRS is more expensive but those guitars will last you forever!

  • @DiveBombProductions

Guess you're right, pal. My most expensive guitar is a Rockinger. A 25 years old strat. I paid about 200 bucks (EUR) then. So I have no idea how good or bad a PRS or a old Start really is. But I played and heared acoustic guitars of about 2500 and 5000 EUR some days ago. The main thing that I experienced is: It's the player that makes the tone!!!! So I'm really satisfied with my gear.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • i think they seem evenly matched but if they switched to clean, strat would pulverise the PRS

  • Nice but could of done without the wah

  • Both awesome guitar brands, guitars that are compared here aren't really equall to compare.... say if you try a PRS in a price range of that Strat, then you might get some idea of what it's really worth....

  • SCHECTER!!!

  • OHH MYYY, the strat destroys the PRS.

    If you disagree, prove it.

  • prs prs prs!

  • I can't stand to hear enough because the Fender sucks! Lol. JKing... Kind of...

  • @superlou1s

man I was talking about the mainstream use. that's insane buying that gibson robot guitar.

  • shouldn't you be comparing a mexican made strat or an epiphone les paul to the PRS? The les paul is more similar- and the quality of this PRS kicks mexican strats and epiphone pauls down the corner.

  • @rodbuoy Lol.........PMS mood switch.

  • i own a custom 22 PRS and an american standard strat completely different guitars . neither being better or worse just different . kinda like kids you love em all but they are different

  • It's all in what you play people!

  • LOL. I play plenty of music. Been doing so for 25 plus years. Sorry Thor. LOL

A PRS is top of the line, from the expensive high end models, all the way to the SE line. Get off your soap box, lackey.

  • PRS is a richman's toy. I would still prefer Gibson Les Pauls and Strats/Tele over your junk PRS. xD

  • Um, last time I checked, the American Gibbys and Strats/Teles were very much in the price range of the American PRSs. Try again.

  • @cflowers69

Definition of replacing talent with money.

  • @hesslergames

Definition of talking out of yer behind.

  • Seriosuly? Dude, Gibson has the most expensive guitars, not PRS. PRS is a VERY good guitar manufacturer- one of the best. Whether you like Gibson, Fender, or PRS, it's a matter of personal preference.

  • @superlou1s yeah they maybe expensive but that is the priciest they got. while the PRS? look at what model is the most expensive. would cost you a more than 10 or 15K! and the sound? almost the same with gibsons. but it's still up to you what you would like. just dont look down on those other guitars like that idiot said that strats are junks.

  • @hesslergames- Dude, gibson sells guitars getting into the 20k, and even higher range. You'd have to be an idiot to buy one, but it's the same with the PRS. They have models the same price as gibsons, but they also have cheaper ones. The SE line of PRS is the same price as most epiphone guitars, and ridiculously better...

  • Sorry. PRS is the tops. I have listened to so many guys on the circuit pay strats with this "legendary tone" thing supposedly happening. Noise and scratchy horror. Just because a name is throw yer way doesn't mean it is great. Strats are cavemen instruments. Junk.

  • @cflowers69

You have listened to so many people on the circuit play them because they are good guitars, probably the best. and noise and scratchy horror is bullshit because it also depends on what pickups you have in it and what music your playing with it, also what kind of pedals you are using . PRS are expensive as shit, and chances are, the people playing the real music dont have thousands of dollars to shell out for a peice of shit. play some real music, if you play at all.

  • You really cant compare these instruments. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what music you want to play.

  • yes my compadre! jejeje!!

  • @ArctikFrost But these guitars can take on all genre's of music, humbucker or not. Although the PRS will hold up a bit better with mega-distortion. You CAN compare these.

  • @ArctikFrost or really comes down to player preference.

  • @ArctikFrost Agreed with you brother~! * _ *! Keep rockin!

  • @ArctikFrost Very True! They also have to be in the same price range for obvious quality reasons.

  • which has a more comfortable neck?

  • @jasonism123 well it depend for my is both but the strat is easy for fast movement.

  • I have been playing for over forty years, and have owned a PRS Custom24,Les Paul Special/P90's,And my prize posession,a Custom Shop 94 60 Relic Strat in fiesta red. What I can tell you is,The Strat wins, hands down.I play blues, and though the Strat requires more involvement and effort to play blues,if you;ve got the right mojo, the sonic reward is incomparable. The roots of all styles of playing began with the Fender Stratocaster!Nuff Said

  • Why would you say The Stratocaster requires more involvement and effort?

  • @Tombugs49 ....Just recently added a BEAUTIFUL trans.-red LP to my arsenal...and while I absolutley adore the sound and playability, my Strat will ALWAYS be my "go-to" guitar. I agree 100% with the "sonic rewards" comment.....just'cuz there's no fancy carved top or other such fanfare doesn't mean it won't SING.

  • @Tombugs49 your a moron. that was the most biased comment i have ever seen. You just said strats are the best guitars ever because you play blues. Okay what if someone doesn't ? did you ever consider other genres? no because your a cock face. roots of play style dont come from the guitar they come from the player and the freakin style its self. You dont see any technical player use a strat other than yngwie malmsteen. Take Satriani, Vai, Paul Gilbert what do they play? Uh ibanez.

  • @AbscisicAcid Who's the fucking moron? YOU ARE! There are so fucking many great players "technical" and otherwise uh...... SRV Hendrix Eric Johnson just to name a few more fuck face. The list can go on for fucking days cock-breath. BY the way Vai, Gilbert and Satriani all learned how to play on the Strat douchebag. You're comment has no value whatsoever. Grow up motherfucker, a Strat is a man's guitar.

  • @tonestar100 lmao get mad more. Hendrix is not a technical player, neither is johnson so shut your fucking mouth you cock sucking mother fucker. oh wow they learned on the fucking strat because its a cheap ass guitar you fucking idiot. Name one kid with 2 years or less experience who doesnt own a strat lmao. Its a guitar for people who don't know what the fuck they're doing which is exactly what you said. Grow up and learn to shred otherwise you can keep you Piece of shit strat.

  • @AbscisicAcid LOL.

    Heh, you're an asshole :D

  • @arasu90 :D

  • @AbscisicAcid So you think Eric Johnson's not a technical player? That shows what a cow-cunted know nothing from fucking Canuckistan you are. You're the little fagwipe sitting on the corner of your bed, still living with mom who knowing you'll never play music professionally. I pay rent each month with my Strat cock-breath! You, on the other hand do nothing, know nothing, and are nothing. It's no wonder you're universally hated by all who read your hate-filled bullshit. So blow me douche-cock.

  • @tonestar100 yeah this guy doesn't even have any uploads :P

  • @EuphoriaMusicSession What you cant judge my comment on its face? You need to got to "uploaded" video to judge me. What an asshole. Uploads are for people who don't have an audience. The band I play in has many Youtube, Facebook LiveNation, uploads, EPK, live footage at various venues, CDs, etc. But it's for fans, not for closet fucking wannabes like you. Fucking A right I don't have any uploads. If you like some gay fucking upload of some mama's boy jamming on the edge of his bed go for it!

  • @tonestar100 Wow. Holy crap calm down all i said was how are we supposed to know that you're legit if you don't have any uploads of yourself playing? it's a totally acceptable statement and all you had to say back was "okay that's cool, maybe i'll take the time to demo some of my playing on my guitar" But instead you call me names and claim that you're in an awesome band that has a bunch of uploads everywhere except for your channel. at least i can take pride knowing that i'm the better man here

  • @AbscisicAcid "Shreading" is something that can be taught and doesnt take long to teach either. Saying Hendrix is not a technical player automatically makes your comment Null and Void. Im not sure if you have ever tried to play Hendrix, or guitar at all for that matter, but you are clearly misinformed in this conversation. If you are looking for "shreading" there is this guy named Yngvie Malmsteen that plays a strat. The artists that became the Godfather of your crappy music played strats. done

  • @AbscisicAcid Plenty of people shred on a Strat.

I've been playing 6 years and I dream of owning a Strat. I will soon, and I couldn't be happier about it. And honestly, there's way more jackasses who don't know shit about guitar out there "shredding" on Ibanez. Shut your trap.

  • @AbscisicAcid the strat IS the best guitar for blues (except for maybe the ES-335, but that's disputable). obviously it might not be the best guitar for other genres, but there's no reason to flip a bitch over it.

  • @Tombugs49 Very true, though I really think that the prs se's are awesome. But you're right, there's something about the snap of the strat.
