  • To astarletnight: My sister and I just loved watching your uncle and his group in concert in NJ. This has and will always be my favorite song by them. I know he is smiling down on you and your family. God Bless.

  • great love song of the doowop era one of my faves

  • Outstanding

  • A great song from the year of my birth 1960? The Passions go down as one of my all time favorite doo-wop groups

  • Doowop's best

  • thanks for putting this up. it's a shame how hard it is to find this today. and for everyone's information, i was born in 1986 :-D at least most of you had the memories.

  • thanks for the memories and the fun here!!! Tom D. Brick,NJ. {at the shore}.

  • One of my all-time favorites songs and groups. I recall the evening many years ago when myself and old friends Angelo B., Peter T. and Ray A. rehearsed this tune in the echo-rich stairwell of Madison Sq Boy's Club in Manhattan to perform it in their talent show. Great memories. Thanks for posting

  • great jams

  • beautiful

  • are they still touring?? N.J. GINNY

  • GREAT!!

  • great post, great slow dance, up close, great group , Jimmy still has it even now

thanks Harry for a great channel and keeping my music alive

Dave an OLD Doo Wooper, Boston

  • As for "those things" in your wax 45's...how's about "ADAPTOR" for a name? At least that's what th two guys what owned DUMONT RECORDS on Market St in downtown Paterson, NJ called `em back in th early 60's. Can't recall what Ronnie Italiano, over at Clifton Records on Main called them but...I have an idea...

  • They're 45 adaptors, also known as 45 domes if they're the kind that raise up in the center. There are also 45 inserts, which are those little yellow plastic ones you pop into your 45s. I play my 45s without adaptors often. A lot of times they were pressed off center, and you have to take the adaptor out and straiten them out

  • Saw Jimmy Gallagher front Th Passions early on this Summer at PNC in Holmdel, NJ aaand I don't mind tellin' y'all "Th kid from Red Hook" [ a small neighbourhood in th friendly confines of Brooklyn, NY ] can STILL chime! Blong - blong - blong!!!!

  • Hi Albee-- N.J. Ginny

  • these guys were fantastic. and still are!

  • As far as Im concerned these guys were the best.

  • This is just a sweet song that I loved to sing along with when I was with my girlfriend Linda .Bill from port jeff high school class of '61

  • Thanks Harry, I have it on a 45 along with many others I haven't played in years. Some day I'm going to take them out and play them all. I have to get one of those things you put in the center of the 45's. I forget what we called them.

  • @robshannon I don't think we ever called those inserts anything except "those things". I have no idea what they are actually called.

  • @HarryWarner There is a name for "those things" now I have to find out cause its bugging me.

  • @robshannon The best I can find is that the inserts were called 45 rpm adapters or 45 rpm spindle adapters. Also RCA called their snap-in inserts "spiders". Maybe someone else can come up with an actual "official" name for "those things".

  • @HarryWarner Harry: Thanks for the reply. That's it 45 rpm adapter, how stupid is that? How come I couldn't re mem mem re mem mem mem ber that.

  • @robshannon It is called a hole !!!

  • @gov111w No, No, No you don't understand. Read it again slowly this time. It's the thing that fills the hole. Now read it again just to be sure.

  • If I'm correct, this is the flip side of I Only Want You.

  • @robshannon You are correct - Audicon 105 recorded in 1960

  • Harry, could you find a record by the Passions.....song:" You Dont Love Me Anymore"....went like this.....I tiptoed in....the still of night.....whispered to you, eveything was alright.....but you dont , no you dont....love me anymore....please find and post if you will ....I used to have a copy....on Laurie....THANKS

  • @reymundo121 Reymondo, I have "You Don't Love Me Anymore" - it's a great song. I'll post it for you later today. If you haven't already subscribed to my channel, do so. That way you'll get a notice when the song is up and running.

Thanks for being a fan of doo wop!!!!

  • Ahhhhh, this is one of the great ones !!!! thanks for the post Harry,

    Ken

  • great... by Jimmy no matter what group

    he his with

  • Does anyone know whatever happened to Albie Galione? He is on the cover of this album, but no one ever mentions him. Do they still sing anywhere? I'd love to hear them live again.

  • A true Doo-Wop classic the passions were a great group. Jimmy Gallaghers lead voice is a gift to the harmony sound. The Passions are pure Doo-Wop.

  • Hey dudey so do I and now I miss my hair lol Do people remember the sugar and water treatment in the hair to stiffen it. The duck tails etc... The music was top, I had a 55 Ford ,2 door hardtop. Those were the days.

  • i miss my greasy hair

    =/

  • I think Jimmy Gallagher sings or sung with a group in FL called the 5 Boros. He also sings with a group called the legends which I believe includes Vito of Salutation fame and a guy from the Mystics among others. I guess he dropped the other Passions, but it's tough not to think of them when I see a bunch of geezers singing the songs of my youth.

  • Jimmy sang with Legends along with Frank Mancuso, Tony Passalaqua and Steve Horne. Then Tommy Mara replaced Tony. Then Jimmy left last year to sing with the Passions again, and Tony came back to replace him. I saw Legends last fall in Florida. It was Tony, Frank, Steve and Tommy.

  • While the current lineup is great, I miss Jimmy......Tommy Mara never had a hit record, while he has a good voice, I would like to see the original Legends back the way there were. I wish Jimmy much success with the Passions. But he should come back home.

  • You're correct mb. However, Tommy Mara is now back as the lead singer of The Crests.

  • Legends has bookings into May of this year. I assume Tommy is still singing with them, unless they got a replacement. I saw them in October with Tommy.

  • You are 100% correct mb. However, it all depends how busy The Crests will be. Last week, they just opened for Bobby Rydell and we shall see what happens.

  • @patersonbutter Are you a geezer or did you stop the hands of time. Just asking!

  • One of the best songs ever recorded. It just doesn't get any better than this. The strings, the arrangement, the harmony and most of all Jimmy's great lead.

  • and that was the fall of 61.....richie costa had moved to Wantaugh and soon after moved to the Chicago area....of the records I had...on Audicon....Richie was the only one who also sang lead....the song was "You Dont Love Me Anymore"....thanx again...

  • I remember when Jimmy went into the Navy and had moved to Corona...I sang with The Passions in a bowling alley on Roosevelt Ave and Junctton Blvd, with

Richie Costa, Dominic Caputo and Richie Franco.....I knew they had ties to Brooklyn....cousins or such....but you never hear or see these guys...Whats up with that Jimmy.....saw you down in Ft Laud....about 10 yrs ago...Thanks for the memories

  • LOVE this song!!! Thanks for posting.

  • Who didn't sing this song on the corner back in the day?

  • This brings back soo many memories...so many

  • The Group Is Still Around Doing an Occasional Gig In The Metro-NJ Area. Fantastic Group And One Of The Best Doo Op Of Their Era ! Just Found Out This Past Summer That Albie Galione Has A Summer Home A Few Doors Away From Me In Toms River, NJ 'This Is My Love' Has To Be Their Best Recorded Song And It Certainly Brings Back Memories Of One Certain Person In My Life, L.A.G. !

  • I went to a couple of Alan Freeds shows years ago. I loved them. years later, The Passions sang once at a banquet I attended. I asked them to re-sing a song. Amazingly, they did! Very classy and fabulous group. Among my favorites!

  • good ol' street corner harmony (the ol' days of Ozone Park, Queens NY).

  • great song

  • great song, enjoy listening to it

    hugs margo

  • I accidently removed a comment from a Passion lover from France. I apologize for that.

    The original message:

Bonjour,i'am from paris(France)and i love the passions.Doo wop is great!

  • hello katelynn...your uncle tony armato will alway be in my heart. i miss him so much and think of him every day...my name is lou rotondo and i sang with him for many years, along with albee-jimmy-and the late vinny arcerno. the passions songs will never ever be forgotten neither will tony " punchey " armato.

  • You are right, Lou. The Passions will not be forgotten. This sound is classic NY Doo Wop and is a treasure. Thank God for Youtube and Sirius Gold, and PBS, of course, for giving a whole new generation the opportunity to listen to the Passions music, and the music of other great groups from the era.

  • Lou you are an amazing performer. Thank you for keeping this group and their classic songs alive. It was great seeing you and the group reunite with Jimmy.

  • I just want to thank you for posting this video. My uncle is Anthony Armato, one of the original members of The Passions. In the photo "Just to be With You", he is located in the center on the left hand side. Unfortunately my Uncle Anthony passed away in November 2002, just a few days shy of Thanksgiving. It is great to see his memory live on through this video. He is missed everyday. Thank you so much for posting this video, it means so much to myself and my family. -Katelynn

  • I was sorry to hear about your uncle but am glad that you found this video. Sometimes we need to be reminded that, by uploading these videos, we are not just keeping doo wop live on, but also keeping alive the memory of the actual members of the great doo wop groups. The Passions were certainly one of the best of the doo wop era and had a truly great sound. You and your family can be sure that Tony Armato and the the Passions are still known and loved by doo wop fans all over the world.

  • Hi,

I knew your uncle Tony and he was a wonderful person. My deepest condolences on your loss.

  • @astarletnight It's great that we get to meet relatives of members of these groups. Thanks for sharing a little bit about your uncle. My wife and I send our love in his passing. RIP, Tony. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  • My group used to do this one, we called it the "blong-blong" song. :)

  • What was the name of your group?

  • We went by a few names as personell changed: East River Drive, Once Upon a Time, Street Lite.

We formed in the mid 80's mostly did weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc.

I live in New York city, still looking for a group, I do bass.

  • my mom was on the Dick Clark show when she was 12 and heard them... she loves doo wop

  • And lest I forget~~~the 5 Laffan girls... Edith, Margaret, Mary, Ellen and Maureen. Thank you for all those many unforgettable days and nights back in the `50's and `60's.

  • Don't stop now, BigIron - tell us more. I'll upload every Passions' recording I have to get the rest of the story!

  • I'm hangin' out onna corner o' Conover & Coffee St in Red Hook, Brooklyn right outside Jungle Jim's jernt whenever I hear these cats chime. Heavenly shades of night are falling, it's twilight time. The whole neighbourhood is redolent of that delightful smell of the ocean. And as I look West there before me is the Statue of Liberty. Music can certainly do some wondrous things to the soul. I love Dick & Edith Laffan...

  • They sang this on the same Dick Clark show when they did "Just to Be With You"--available here on youtube.

  • The original from Brooklyn.
