thougth the idea for 3 was good...but it's just not a mummy film. to be fair, I only watch the films for john hannah...but still, i'd rather have evie killed off than played by someone else, they even changed alex, even though the actors were the same age TT___TT so much to cry about the third one...childhood favourite ruined
@FurryRainbowCatEgg Yeah, Evie having died would explain some of the tension between the grown "Alex" and his "mom". I'd act like him too if I felt that my mom was replaced by someone else and that everything was supposed to be fine. XD Though this could look like a good subject for a fanfiction...
but honestly they have ears man, they would know when to tone it down (there professionals). just think of Williams as a cookie and Silvestri as icing . i don't know about you but Oreos are fucking incredible.
it would work, the situation would just have to be ideal and they would have to be on the same level through out. saying that the result of both styles combined is bland, is ignorant. they both have different styles. i know what you mean by when u said it would be too much, (continued on next post)
@ronvins yeah he kinda took a backseat to the chinese assasin girl, I forgot her name. she was amazing too. it was sad to see her mom die though even if they were like 1000's of years old in actuality. its just the plot that was twisted. they need to bring imhotep back. I used to relate the mummy with some of the N64 games I played like Zelda; ocarina of time's- Spirit Temple, banjo kazooie's- Gobi's valley, etc.
@Minan3 Yea, Imhotep needs to come back too, he was so cool. Or at least place whatever Mummy movie they may be planning in Egypt again and make it a different mummy or some kind of new evil where they'll have to call Imhotep into the living world to help them stop it.
That way we get Imhotep and Ardeth, and hopefully, Rachel to play Evy.
@Minan3 Yea, at least then we'd have our favorite Med-jai and baddie back. That's all I want out of whatever Mummy movie they decide to pull from their magic hat.
@ronvins A good new villain for the type of film you're talking about, would be Kharis(the original Universal series, only a lot more powerful and impressive than he was in those).
It wouldn't work out. Both composers are so awesome that their styles would either rub together and cancel each other out - resulting in a totally bland score - or else one of them would totally overtake the other (the way Hans Zimmer's voice erased James Newton Howard's on the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight scores).
In theory, your idea is epic. But I don't think it would really work, unfortunately :).
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are wonderful scores. Goldsmith and Silvestri are arguably the greatest composers ever. (A poll would probably place them below Williams, but only directly below him.)
A poll amongst the general public, or a poll amongst film score collectors? Among the latter, Williams and Goldsmith would score big.
But among the former, I think Hans Zimmer would gain the highest spot, followed by James Horner (mostly because of Titanic). Don't get me wrong, I love Zimmer's music, but I find Goldsmith, Williams or even Silvestri to be "better" composers - more original, sophisticated, intelligent, whatever.
Few casual listeners know the name Silvestri, or even Goldsmith.
Silvestri is more of hit-and-miss composer in my opinion. Some are total duds, others, after listening to them a couple times are pretty good. Then theres songs like this that are just epic all the way through.
He's no John Williams, but in one of the most undervalued professions out there, he's one of maybe four composers that have written multiple knockout scores.
The score for Pirates of the Caribbean is brilliant, enjoyable and exciting, I am the last person who would dispute that, but it isn't really swashbuckling - 'least, the first two aren't. They're powerful, heroic and very, very awesome, but they lack the flair and style that this song, or the soundtrack for Cutthroat Island, has.
What if Sid Meier hired both Alan Silvestri and/or John Debney to score for his "Sid Meier's Pirates!" game if he does another remake of it? Imagine how it would sound like with a full ochestra.
This entire track sounds just like what I imagine Alan SIlvestri would have produced for Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a real shame Jerry Bruckheimer doesn't know real good swashbuckling music when he hears it :(
This is my favorite part in the whole movie, when they are on the double decker bus! my fave character is Ardeth and one of my fave lines is when the ride is over Rick asks of He is ok and Ardeth is like "This was my first bus ride." LOVE IT AND THIS MOVIE!!!!!
Alan Silvestri surpassed himself with this one. Along with the "The Rock" - theme from Hans Zimmer one of the most action - packed tracks of them all.

@Minan3 One of the big reasons why the 3rd movie failed in my opinion. Ardeth was not only one of the main characters, but an amazing character!
It would of been hilarious seeing him walking around China, trying to get used to all the different things he's probably not used to. lol

You're probably right. Although I think Williams would do good amongst the public too because of his Raiders March.
My two favorites are Silvestri and Goldsmith. (I am a collector with a quite large collecion. A lot of them quite rare. ;) )
I take it you are a collector like me?
