This is a really interesting take on this clip. I am the author of the book "The Shaman and Snow White: Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Shamanic States of Consciousness and Certificate 18 Healing" and refer to the visuals of Renegade many times. Jan Kounen gave me permission to use stills from the film for my MSc dissertation, and these can be found on my flickr site - username simonralli. Having a gun in hand like the actor has, is not a good idea ( in my opinion ) while experiencing ayahuasca. Shit can happen..

I haven't seen the movie though, does the shaman approve the gun

? Is there any shaman ?

@downsouthenplass the setting is more tipycal for a peyotl cerimony but the director, kounen, took everything from shipico-conibo shamanism of peruvian amazon jungle (pucallpa zone) as he's very interested in that way, in wich they use ayahuasca, so everything in the movie is shipibo-conibo (the dresses, the actors, the medicine-songs)...also the visions are very ayahuasca oriented...only the place is different...but it's cool I think! :)

Greate song and movie ! Just it isn't ayahuasca.. it's most probably peyote/mescaline, as the location of the movie is set to be in the states/mexico..ayahuasca is most used in peru

i'm sure there is also ayahuasca in the movie, when you see Runi prepere the drinks in the end of the movie you see some peyote cactuses AND tree barks that very much resemble ayahuasca!

Dude i just saw that movie, there is peyote growing throughout the movie. And you can see it, its obviously peyote. MESCALINE not Dmt though they are both closely related.

thats peyote, ayahuasca is something we have here in brazil, peru, latin america. you dont have it in north america, nor native americans prepare it. but they (used to...) do have peyote in the desert, and thats what they do in the movie

I think that mescaline is the plant that they harvest and ayahausca is the actual drink itsself.

just be sure you are with a good shaman or a reputable group like the santo daime (you can youtube 'santo daime alex polari to get an idea). some 'shamans' out there are really jerks just selling a drug 'trip' which is a.) stupid - just watching your own brain going blahblahblah, and b.) barely touching the surface of what a sacrement is really about. 'huasca is extremely potent and in the right hands is holy guide you to spiritual liberation, otherwise you might want to pass.
