There seems to be no equivalent to Vysotsky anywhere else in the world, certainly not in the US, my native country. To develop and appreciate an artist like Vysotsky a nation or a people has to have a soul. The US has no soul, at least not one that it wishes to acknowledge. It values only money, paying no attention to matters of the soul. You are lucky to have had such an artist in your midst, and wise to have revered him while he was alive. He was a flawed human being, but still great.

There is a great lot of junk all over the world, though, the people -leaders of this junk, greediness, pettiness, murders, blood and martyrdoms are not junkies, but they are world's dirt and should be washed out of the face of this planet. It is, of course, impossible to wash out the evilness, but it is possible to show in comparison how stupid and bloody it is. And I've done many of such shows.
