  • That being said. It's a beautiful pop arrangement of the aria. Very nicely done.

  • Saying that they speak french in Quebec is a stretch. Even the French can't understand them most of the time. Much like Mr. Wainwright in this song.

  • I love it when non-classical artists perform classical music.

  • What an elitist attitude to say he gets the text "wrong" and that it's not transposed i the right place. Rufus is from Canada, where French IS the language. And as far as the key he chose--Wainwright is a very serious and deliberate musician. Songs can often be transposed for different psychological or tonal/vocal reasons. Rufus doesn't "attempt" Classical music, as was commented---he CONTRIBUTES.

  • @innerpig You're right, he doesn't attempt classical. He doesn't contribute to it either though. I would say he's too smart to even try. He's pop/ rock. He contributes to his own genre.

  • Be still my heart, my God what a sweet voice. the same one I've loved for years!

  • This is actually an opera aria "Vainement, ma bien-aimee" by Laló.wainwright gets much of the text wrong and the aria is transposed way down. Nice to see him attempt classical music though, this small aria is very beautiful. I would suggest listening to Henri Legay and Roberto Alagna for example for a more correct version, though.

  • Rufus is the greatest singer songwriter who has ever lived, I owe him so much

  • been searching for this song for months. thank you!!! hold my breath everytime he lets out a falcetto...
