@Nico582a Busted! It's really time consuming (and expensive) to film, capture, edit and compress 2 different videos that will look the same anyways so the horizontal flip is the most efficient way for us to keep both the regular and goofy riders happy. Nice catch though!
Hey I started doing 3's and I can barely land them. I keep on going inverted and just falling on my face. Is there any way to prevent me from going to inverted?
@xXn0sc0p3xX Practice on some side hits first and work your way up to the table top style jumps. Usually when people get off axis with their frontside spins it's because they let their weight fall backwards off the lip by opening their front shoulder and initiating the spin by pulling the front hand back. Focus more on pushing your weight into the spin by by bringing the back hand forward as you leave the lip. Try this on the ground a couple times and you'll see how it keeps your shoulders level
my 3's are really close to perfect and i can do em on almost anything. The thing is, a habit is to just coast off the lip as 3s are pretty easy to get around, I can do bigger spins but only on really big jumps. I see youre prewinding and everytime i focus on prewinding it throws everything off. any advice?
@Jamarikle Start your windup as you transition onto the edge that you are going to take off from, pre-winding too early can make it hard to stay balanced as you ride up the lip. Don't over do it, keep yourself controlled and smooth. Make sure that you initiate the parallel to the horizon, keep your core tight and you'll notice your spins speed up. Spinning is more about being efficient than hucking, so keep that in mind. Have fun!
Firstly, thanks for these vids they are very helpful. Unfortunately I have inconsistancy issues when I have been getting better at backside spins. I can pretty much get my backside 3's and 5's on lock somedays and they can look really sick. the problem I was having was that sometimes I tend to land my three really heel heavy. is this a takeoff problem or something I am doing in the air? It feels worse when I grab. then sometimes with 5 I land almost on my chest, Help Please! this is on 30footer
@roderman93 Usually landing in the backseat (which would put you on your heels if you under rotate the BS 3 or stomach on the 5) is caused by pre spinning as you leave the jump. Slow down your set up carve slightly and try to leave the jump standing up taller with your edge running straight off the lip. It's common for people to pre spin and crouch over when they do this trick and it puts them onto their heels. Hope that helps!
@mole1717 It's most natural for people to spin frontside off their heels and backside off their toes, although you will see some riders mix it up and spin off their unnatural edge. Which one is 'better' is all a matter of personal preference, both frontside and backside look awesome if you do them with style. Learn what's most natural to you first and then mix it up!
@N10Edits Pre-spinning is super common when you first start spinning. If you want to keep spinning off your heels, you need to make sure that you aren't doing your set up carve too early when you approach the jump. Practice this by doing some frontside 180's, it's the exact same set up carve that you will be using when you do your 360. If you want to spin off your toes make sure you have frontside 180's dialled off your toes first. The set up carve is mirrored as to when you spin off your heels.
I have followed all of the steps to landing a 360 and i nearly have, however even though i basically completely every part of the jump perfectly, when i land I do not stop spinning, also the jumps that I have been going off mostly have ice on the landing, is my continual spinning because of the ice or possibly because i have over spun? This is the only part yet that is messing me up in my jump yet.. Thanks for your help!
@adam443366 It's super common to revert the landings of Frontside 360's when you learn them. The main reason this happens is because riders have a natural tendency to want to look down the fall line as soon as they land. When you do this, it opens your shoulders, puts you onto your heel edge and continues your spin on the ground. To prevent this, land blind and look back at the landing as you ride away until you get your balance on the snow. Good luck!
@cjzender There's 2 things you can focus on. First, make sure that when you grab you are bringing your board up to you as opposed to leaning down to grab your board which will put you off balance. Second, make sure you keep your core tight as you spin, if you relax your core and allow you upper and lower body to become seperated it is really hard to stay in enough control to grab. Hope that helps!
This is an awesome video it helped so much right after i watched it i wsnt out a got it like 3rd try..do u think u can do one on tamedogs (frontflips) im shure it would really help cause ur videos are awesome and can u link it to me or something it u can and u make one pls and thx
@t3ezTHAskater Practice your switch riding ALOT, so that you feel super comfortable coming into the landing. Make sure you have your 180's dialed so that you can land both feet centered in your switch stance every time. Bringing your back hand forward to point down the fall line will help you stay centered. After that it's all about commitment, stay relaxed on the in run, bring a bit more speed than you do for your 360 and don't pre-spin. You'll nail it!
@OzzysFilmProductions Somewhere in the middle. I got it. But I learned it on flat ground first doing setup turns and just spun as fast as I could. But medium sized jumps are good. Or if you are not confident enough. Small to medium. :) And rememer to have the knees bent it's the key to 3's in my opinion. :)
@OzzysFilmProductions i tried learning 3's on a small jump and couldn't ever get it. i finally worked up the courage to try it on a medium jump and nailed it without a problem. now i can spin almost any jump.
Best vid on the subject. But I would be easier if I could find it in french... coz I need to really get it becase I can't realyy train in my home ton since it's a flat country ;p
@ardaeserbmx Keep your base flat on the feature, avoid using your edges and keep your knees bent. Work your way up to doing spins on the boxes by pivoting 180's first.
@ardaeserbmx carve a bit on an angle before u hit the box and then flatten out and put pressure on your base so you dont carve into it. its really easy once you get the hang of it
ive been snowboarding for about eight years and could easily 7 in the past years, but but broke my collar bone last year and this year ive been having problems 3ing backside, what is a good tip to stop carving in too much? and when in the air i feel like im pausing and its really sketchy spinning, any tips you could give me would be awesome
@lglass814 Spend some time on some side hits where you naturally take off on your toe edge, just so you can get a feeling of how much pressure on your toes you are comfortable with when spinning backside. After you've got this dialled you can start hitting the park jumps again using this same amount of pressure to finish your set up carve. Mentally overcoming injuries is tough, and sometimes breaking stuff down and relearning the basics is the easiest way to come back!
@abtin55 The less you 'buck' your spins, the smoother they will be. You can avoid how throwing your upper body into the spin hard by doing a proper set up carve. Pay attention to your approach and your spins will become smoother. Hope that helps!
@ilikepie5720 I know that, I thought I was spinning really smoothly, but when I came home to see the footage my buddies got of me, they were really sketchy, that's how I knew I needed work on it. But now thing are going okay.
@abtin55 i thought the same thing, that and i also hadn't watched part 2. my release and timing were absolute garbage. everything else is there, and every few everything goes perfect, just not every time like we all want it to.
@11KAB11 It's definitely a bit firm right now, but at least the park staff has been doing an awesome job! Apparently it is supposed to snow (a little bit) the next couple days.
@cjzender Make sure you're not pulling your weigh back off the jump as you initiate the spin. Focus on your set up carve and be patient so you don't pre-spin on the lip which also causes you to fall into the back seat.
Hey I am a goofy rider more comfortable with doing frontside but i did my first 360 backside the other day. When I try to do a frontside 360, I always lose control in the air, or can't rotate more than a 90 for some reason....Any tips? Any help is appreciated :)
@Blkhawkairsoft Try doing some on the snow first, carve across the slope on your heels and slide them around on the surface. After you're comfortable with this try to do them off some side hits. We just produced a new 360's video that breaks it down. Check it out!
@eggyman: park pickle! I ride it and love it way more than the skate banana. It's Good for everything and it has a super solid feeling. You won't be upset with it.
im trying to do backside 360's with a flat indy. but almost every time i either fall forward or i can't reach my board. I know this is some sort of pop problem. but how can i make the perfect pop for this trick?
@markderooijNL Practice your grabs in your straight airs a little bit more and make sure you are bringing your board UP to grab and not bending down to reach it which will put you off balance. Good luck!
@snowboardaddiction Thanks =) Ive been practicing them and im almost there, did it with a bit more pop, started with tailgrab and worked my way to the front of the board. Its almost flat now . nice trick to do!
@snowboardaddiction Thanks =) Ive been practicing them and im almost there, did it with a bit more pop, started with tailgrab and worked my way to the front of the board. Its almost flat now . nice trick to do!
This got me stomping 360's effortlessly at the end of last season, and great reference material for friends and for a refresher for this season to dial in my technique so i can go to 540's. By far the best instructional series i have come across for snowboarding to date. Thanks again!
normally which is easier to learn: frontside spin or backside spin? cuz last year was my first year boarding and i learned spins going backside and going frontside just feels awkward to me and whenever i try frontside i eat shit
@paintball4life544 Which one is easier is different for everybody, try doing some frontside 360's off small side hits that put you on your heels on the take off. After you have a couple fs 360s on side hits start working on straight jumps. Good luck!
Hey can someone recommend which is the better of boards to get? They Burton Hero, Lib Tech Skate Banana, or GNU Park Pickle? I ride alot of park but also do all mountain! Thanks
@eggmaynn I'd also recommend k2's fastplant, board is great everywhere. It's a softer board, yet still very poppy and does very well outside the park.
@alexanderstratthaus It all depends on what come more easy to you. If you like Front 180's more then back 180's then maybe Front 360's will come easier to you. Its all about personal preference.
@thundercats24p Exactly the same but mirrored. Check out our How to 360, 540 and 720 Frontside or Backside (regular riders) from Snowboard Addiction for a better look.
@PocketBikingDude221 Hey Bud, welcome to the shred!!! A 180 is where you do half a rotation and land going the opposite you took off. Each half turn is an additional 180 added to it 180, 360, 540, 720, 900 etc. so a 540 is a full spin and a half. Hope that helps!
@HarisIsMvp its what comes easier or natural to u. im goofy and i always tend to go FS, but my regular riding friends like front side too. most people like front side because ur looking down hill and can see where ur going. when u go back backside its seems more difficult because you cant see where ur going till u land. the easiest way to find out is to strap on ur board and do some stationary 180's FS and BS. i would try them stationary first before you do them while riding, hope that helps.
@HarisIsMvp Everyone has their own preference on this. Personally it depends on the jump for me. I love spinning BS of the kicky jumps and FS off the flat ones. But it changes for every rider. It also depends for me how much I am spinning. Try both ways and play around!
i had some really good spins with these techniques plus the ones from the 2nd vid, but now it's like i've lost it; every time i leave the lip i always seem to lose my balance and get all wobbly when i try to do the initial spin to initiate the rotation. could it be that i'm not creating a good enough platform?
This helped me so much. I watched this like 10 times just see what i should do. I went snowboarding, and landed my first 360 the first time I tried. Thanks for the info. Great Vids!
thank you, last season i only could do a bad 360 over 4meters now I'm doing 540 and 720 over 10 meter. I'm getting better and better. Greetings from Switzerland (sry for my bad english;)
Thanks snowboard addiction. Landed my 1st backside 360 yesterday and then 5 more in a row to make sure I had the trick on lock. Your step by step explanations are perfect!!!!!!
When I spin I always keep my legs straight, which I dont want to do. I look like a big stupid. I tried doing grabs to force myself not to do it but I still do it. Anyone got any tips?
@The7ZERO4 had the same problem. Solved it by putting more energy into the pop. Dont just fly of the jump. Straighten your legs with all your power. Also, your pressure must be distributed evenly between the front and the back leg when you pop off. Forget the ollie - leave it for boxes and rails, it doesnt look good on spins anyways. Also try doing small 3s on bumps and sidekicks with your knees bent. Good luck.
@The7ZERO4 try compressing your legs into your chest. use the pop of the board to throw your legs into your chest. but don't actually bring your legs all the way to your chest. just enough to make them bend and look comfortable. hope this helps... :)

@paintball4life544 Which one is easier is different for everybody, try doing some frontside 360's off small side hits that put you on your heels on the take off. After you have a couple fs 360s on side hits start working on straight jumps. Good luck!

@snowboardaddiction Thanks the tip is appreciated

Hey can someone recommend which is the better of boards to get? They Burton Hero, Lib Tech Skate Banana, or GNU Park Pickle? I ride alot of park but also do all mountain! Thanks
eggmaynn 3 months ago
@eggmaynn I'd also recommend k2's fastplant, board is great everywhere. It's a softer board, yet still very poppy and does very well outside the park.

for the novice, whats is easier to make, the frontside or backside 360?
alexanderstratthaus 3 months ago
@alexanderstratthaus It all depends on what come more easy to you. If you like Front 180's more then back 180's then maybe Front 360's will come easier to you. Its all about personal preference.

is it possible to spin right?
thenaturedudes 3 months ago
@thenaturedudes Yes you can spin either way. In snowboarding its called frontside or backside.

720s two turns, whatsa 540? help ! yes im a noob..
PocketBikingDude221 6 months ago
@PocketBikingDude221 Hey Bud, welcome to the shred!!! A 180 is where you do half a rotation and land going the opposite you took off. Each half turn is an additional 180 added to it 180, 360, 540, 720, 900 etc. so a 540 is a full spin and a half. Hope that helps!
snowboardaddiction 6 months ago
@PocketBikingDude221 540 is one and a half spins
HarisIsMvp 5 months ago
okay so if were all goofy riders... which is easier? BS or FS???
HarisIsMvp 6 months ago
@HarisIsMvp its what comes easier or natural to u. im goofy and i always tend to go FS, but my regular riding friends like front side too. most people like front side because ur looking down hill and can see where ur going. when u go back backside its seems more difficult because you cant see where ur going till u land. the easiest way to find out is to strap on ur board and do some stationary 180's FS and BS. i would try them stationary first before you do them while riding, hope that helps.
HAWX4 6 months ago
@HarisIsMvp it really doesnt matter at all its different for every one
cjzender 5 months ago
@HarisIsMvp backside is definetly easier and u can spot the landing better
ibaiez 5 months ago
@HarisIsMvp Everyone has their own preference on this. Personally it depends on the jump for me. I love spinning BS of the kicky jumps and FS off the flat ones. But it changes for every rider. It also depends for me how much I am spinning. Try both ways and play around!

40weman04 10 months ago
which is easier backside 3 or frontside 3
MegaCoolnik 10 months ago
@MegaCoolnik
i'd say backside cause you are able to spot your landing. it takes more overcoming though to jump off backside.
try both and start off with 180s over some small kickers.

i had some really good spins with these techniques plus the ones from the 2nd vid, but now it's like i've lost it; every time i leave the lip i always seem to lose my balance and get all wobbly when i try to do the initial spin to initiate the rotation. could it be that i'm not creating a good enough platform?

When I spin I always keep my legs straight, which I dont want to do. I look like a big stupid. I tried doing grabs to force myself not to do it but I still do it. Anyone got any tips?
The7ZERO4 1 year ago
@The7ZERO4 had the same problem. Solved it by putting more energy into the pop. Dont just fly of the jump. Straighten your legs with all your power. Also, your pressure must be distributed evenly between the front and the back leg when you pop off. Forget the ollie - leave it for boxes and rails, it doesnt look good on spins anyways. Also try doing small 3s on bumps and sidekicks with your knees bent. Good luck.
dan7edan7e 1 year ago
@The7ZERO4 try compressing your legs into your chest. use the pop of the board to throw your legs into your chest. but don't actually bring your legs all the way to your chest. just enough to make them bend and look comfortable. hope this helps... :)
