I understand that they removed Group B because the spectators were crowding around the courses and many wrecks resulted in injury, but why only Group B? Why not rallies in general? Plus, look at todays rally vehicles, are you gonna tell me that Group B's cars from the '80's were more powerful then todays cars and trucks?

group b rally had no weight or powere requirement and the cars were way too fast for dirt they were so fast the drives eyes couldnt keep up with the speed and there were alot of fatal accdents that occured becaus the cars were too fast so they canceled it. now a days grop b cars are waced on paved tracks only

true spectators were a big part of it but for dirt the cars were too fast also and they had no power requirements. dont get me wrong i love group b and i still wish they had it and i wish i could have experienced watching a race

The driver and co-drover of the Ford RS200 died in 1986 with a host of others earlier that put an end to group b racing... Just plain simple, too many lives lost..

Do you recall the turbocharged and supercharged F1 cars of the 80's? They pushed well over 1000 hp on a few cars. They were banned from racing as well, due to being just to fast for the tracks. Rally still exists, as well as f1. However, they are all tamed down for safety.

Its incorrect though, it says "your typical group B race car produces close to 400 horsepower." but in actual fact the Audi Quattro sport S1 was up to if not over 600HP also the original Lancia delta S4 was originally at 420 horsepower, until it was bumped up to 600 horsepower.

Thats right. Also 4s 0-60mph? maybe on snow! 205t16 was clocked 3secs on gravel in 2005. Most could do 60 on good grip 2.5s. Typical american film, under estimating europeans so they should not be so shamed for their shitty cars that were no match for group b.

I think this was from a Discovery Channel program back in '89 or '90, and was meant for laypeople so the narration doesn't bother me at all. I'm just glad to see the footage again. (I still have it on VHS somewhere.)
