@matttchapman i see, i have used the 2.4 8v diesel block used in some forklifts as a block with a c20xe head and this engine looks very like a z20let vxr astra ecotec engine (going by the rocker cover). It would be interesting to try the block with a petrol head and turbo... which is why i asked :)
I may look further into this in the new year, ill keep you posted
@lerlo It's an Isuzu, they are Japanese, its just a SUV (decent size), with what... a 3.0L inline 4, of course its has more room than you 2dr civic...
why you put the video so fast? please pass slower so I can learn, need to change water pump on my car and only you can help me if you make the video slower
One minute rebuilt for 15 second run engine ahhahahahahahah !!! not professionnal buildin! he dont take measure very cool for people who dont know to build a motor
You must have pulled the crank and what about cleaning the block and check for cracks and boring the block align honing and checking block surfaces. This is not a complete rebuild in my book I don't care what anyone says.
did you put the front camshaft seals in first and then place the camshaft bearing caps on top and tighten them down? or did you put the camshaft bearing caps on first the drove in the seals with a seal drive like a cup cut in half or a socket, my seals leak a little i think it might be because i just layd them on there and put the bearing caps on top to save time
i want to rebuild my engine its a 94 2.2 s10 with 160000 miles. due to the high milage should i just get a whole new long block or just repair the internals
I am finishing rebuilding a 300e mercedes engine, dear God pain in the ass. Thats all i can say every place where one bolt would have been fine there are six bolts. Everything that could have broke has everything that would not come lose didnt. LMAO but when i am finished it will be new its a great car so its worth it i guess LOL
by the way what is a good reasonable price range for an engine rebuild kit and labor. I will take my engine to a machine chop.
its a 1996 chevy pickup 350 hp v8.
(a guy charges 300 dollars for taking the engine to the machine chop and once the engine is ready, he will installed it back, and he will also install a new water pump, hoses , water container. distributor, rotor.... you know stuff that must be installed once you rebuild your engine.. 300 bucks) and machine chop wants 1200 bucks.
well since the engine was going to be taking apart, I decided to rebuild my engine.
the problem was I found water in the oil.
so I was gonna go for the cheap fix, only head gaskets, but I was told to fix the whole damn thing at one, with a rebuild kit.
mainly I was motivated to rebuilt it since it has 300 000 miles and about 13 years old. this truck has been here in the family since it came out from GM since 1996. this will be the 1st engine repair so I will rebuild this "legend"
I was thinking about installing the head gaskets myself.
does my truck requires for me to take the valve cover, cylinder head and exhaust manifold, and then just take care of the head gasket, and can I avoid uninstalling the pistons and pistons rods? and can I also avoid removing the cam?
I only need to install the gaskets, but since I wll be doing that , I will also change some other gaskets
No doubt you will have to remove the heads to change the head gaskets...LOL. The manifolds many times can remain attached to the heads, but you might as well take everything apart and reseal it. And, no...you don't need to remove the pistons and rods unless once it's all apart you see a problem. If the head gasket is REALLY the only problem, you should make sure you know what caused it to blow. It's generally a symptom of a bigger problem.
Well, I started about 1 p.m on saturday and worked straight thrue the night as was done abround 6 a.m. on sunday. It would of been alot faster with air tools and a hoist, but this was in my garage without an air compressor.
I used to be that fast at rebuilding engines, then I took an arrow in the knee

what kind of power is this 3.0 inline 4 and are the engines cheap and readily available?
bigdeesri 3 months ago
@bigdeesri Crappy power and the engines are not that good. I ended up getting rid of the Isuzu Rodeo and would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Nice work. I've done similar things myself.
What was the initial problem? Low compression? Head looks like it was just redone.
How did you support the crank if you changed the bearings?

Depends on how much work you want to do. Rebuilding it yourself will cost less money and take longer, but be more rewarding.
