Nuclear puts out a micro-amount of pollution for the equivalent power. We each use 9 tons of coal per year AND when the last ice cap melts (2030-2035) and the ocean conveyor belt stops.
Nuclear can easily make up 35-45% of our needs. Solar and Wind can easily make up 20-25% of our needs - there is ZERO reason we can not fix this. Of course each candidate only has half the solution in each of their energy programs. so were FUCKED in either case with retards running this country.
Coal industry needs to be phased out regardless of the person who does it. "Clean" Coal is bullshit because if you actually look at the process in detail, it requires scrubbing it (think dumping pollution into the water but even harder to police) and putting in underground wells (in which only 25% of the areas can do economically) Plus the nightmare if a leak occurs from a number of mistakes.

Most alternative/green sources of energy are decades from being effecient. Wind takes massive amounts of land to produce the same energy as 1 plant. Solar right now is completely useless as it takes more energy to produce the solar panel then it creates in its lifetime.

I'd feel much more safe living next to a rector than an airport (sorry, for the bad example). Problem with wind is it just doesn't generate enough energy for the price, to install these wind farms its very expensive. Wind power takes up miles and miles of acreage that could be used for farming.

I'm from West Virginia, I've been to Allentown many times. Modern day mines are a lot more clean than they once were back in the earlier day. I'm only in my mid-20s, but when I was teens I worked in the mines. Hell, if work dries up here I might be headed back to the mines, who knows. I am a Pennsylvania coal miner and I can't believe that the United Mine Workers endorsed this guy even after he said that he would bankrupt coal fired power plants. Right now 49% of our nations electricity comes from coal fired power plants. I just hope that we will make it 4 years w/o any job loss in the coal industry maybe the UMWA will see where they failed by endorsing this joker. Because they endorse the party not the issues. IF coal is all you have- then the other markets are wide open and you dont have to rely on government or Industrial-Coal to help keep you employed. There are plenty of other things you can do- even competing against MTR and Coal.
Or you can get into something entirely different. When you allow some industry to "be the only opponent," just do a sidestep- dont hit them head-on. You wouldn't win.

Nuclear puts out a micro-amount of pollution for the equivalent power. We each use 9 tons of coal per year AND when the last ice cap melts (2030-2035) and the ocean conveyor belt stops.
Nuclear can easily make up 35-45% of our needs. Solar and Wind can easily make up 20-25% of our needs - there is ZERO reason we can not fix this. Of course each candidate only has half the solution in each of their energy programs. so were FUCKED in either case with retards running this country.

Coal industry needs to be phased out regardless of the person who does it. "Clean" Coal is bullshit because if you actually look at the process in detail, it requires scrubbing it (think dumping pollution into the water but even harder to police) and putting in underground wells (in which only 25% of the areas can do economically) Plus the nightmare if a leak occurs from a number of mistakes.
Yes, I understand 50% of our electricity comes from them BUT it must be converted to another source.

Most alternative/green sources of energy are decades from being effecient. Wind takes massive amounts of land to produce the same energy as 1 plant. Solar right now is completely useless as it takes more energy to produce the solar panel then it creates in its lifetime.

Hollywood has helped paint that picture that Nuclear is big and evil. Truth is, modern-day Nuclear sites are very secure and safe. I'd feel much more safe living next to a rector than an airport (sorry, for the bad example). Problem with wind is it just doesn't generate enough energy for the price, to install these wind farms its very expensive. Wind power takes up miles and miles of acreage that could be used for farming.

-it contaminates the water (mountain water, well water, lakes, ponds and streams near the site.)
-it destroys the serrounding area with soot, dust, and dirty air
-and when the coal is harvested, the leftover waste (called column) is piled high like mountains.
Wilkes-Barre PA, still has mountains and mountains of column banks.
Take a trip to the north side of Allentown PA, where trees still don't grow in the abandoned waste. it's no good

I'm from West Virginia, I've been to Allentown many times. Modern day mines are a lot more clean than they once were back in the earlier day. I'm only in my mid-20s, but when I was teens I worked in the mines. Hell, if work dries up here I might be headed back to the mines, who knows. I can't argue with you on your points, but modern day mines are much more contained than they were "back in the day" Mining is all these people have, you people don't understand.

With all due respect, while that could be true (I haven't done the research myself) The McCain attack ads have generally been very unethical from my perspective. That alone has turned me towards Obama. - Candidates twist things a lot in general, but McCain has become ridiculous in the way he attacks. He shouldn't have hired Bush's old crew for his campaign. That's what I believe anyhow.

I couldn't believe how blatantly Biden lied during the debate knowing that with an audience that big many people wouldn't know. Actually I can kind of believe it, he is the guy who had to drop out of the Presidential race in 1988 for lying so much about his personal life. The Katie's restaurant/Home Depot lie is just hilarious. The lies about his helicopter being downed by Al Qaida and being shot at in Iraq are funny too. McCain/Palin have an energy plan to make us not dependent on foreign oil. Palin made that very clear in the debate (dweeze444 must not have been listening).
Palin trounced Biden in the debate. She was knowledgeable, intelligent, and obviously ready to lead. She knows the US Constitution, she knows the VP duties, she knows what will get this country moving in the right direction.

Mm, I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers, but it would seem that according to the "media elite" Palin was actually pretty wrong about a lot of things including the constitution. She actually had no idea what the VP duties were before she was picked up by John, and with all due respect she was actually just repeating what she had been told to say by the script. (let's not forget the fact that she had the nerve to say she wouldn't cooperate with the moderator)

With all due respect, McCain is no where near the straight talk express he used to talk about. He's allowed himself to be picked up by Karl Rove politics and is actually spouting the most lies we've seen from candidates for a while... and that's actually something pretty scary. Please listen to both sides of the "media elite" before deciding on your vote in November. You'll notice the difference in professional journalism if you look at CNN instead of Fox News.

This economy was not in this shape until 2006 when the gas prices started to rise and that year the Democratic congress went into power. Research this look at the prices and the stocks before 2006 and now after. I live in a coal mining community and we are MIDDLE CLASS workers so thanks but no thanks OBAMA/BIDEN for helping us.
