thank you very much for this. It's a song I've been wanting to learn for many years, but my hearing isn't what it was years ago. This has help more than you will know. :)
I feel bad for advertising/spamming on this video but for those of you who want to check out the guitar and bass part for this part of the song, check out /watch?v=tqQzEs9DpMc
I thought I had a good ear, you have a Great! one, I have been wanting to play this (one of my favorite songs as well as bands) for a very long time. I like your tutoring style, you let your hands, fingers, and the keys do the talking. Thank you so much for generous contribution. Bless you.
@wonderpuppieslol: sorry man, unfortunately i don´t have sheet music for this song. I learned it by ear! But google for a Midi or Guitarpro file, maybe that will help you, but for sure, will be different from my version. Good luck!
@wonderpuppieslol dude im sorry but if you cant figure it out from this.. you probably arent meant to play it. doesnt really get much simpler, great job with the lesson
Yes its very simple to follow for sure, but really its a complex song at first lots of arpeggios in the left hand and intervals in the right. But with lots of practice it will become second nature.
really good job ! ill go play it now :D thx for the post keep going, and i heard your solo for your band its pretty good too! and sry too for my bad english, im from quebec, canada,
Hey, love the vids! I'm a sax player who picked up keyboard for some gigs this year, and we're gonna cover Wayward Son. Your tutorials are perfect. No time wasted talking, no lead-ins. Presented in absorb-able chunks. Gets right to the point. We're playing up at Sturgis in a couple weeks, the tutorial made learning the tune infinitely easier than picking it out by ear and watching live videos to double check voicings! Thanks again!
I love this song and have listened to this piano part many times wishing I could play it. This is probably a terrible first piece to learn because of the difficulty. Do you have any tips for a new piano player?
@dogtreat94: First of all, you have to be patient. Try to learn each part and each hand separately first, then later you put the parts of one hand together, then the other hand. When you can play each hand accurately, then try to play them together. Good luck, feel free to ask if you need more help!
I'm trying to play this on piano to please a friend, and i'm so happy to have found your video ! It sounds really great and i look forward to playing this song like you do !
OMG!! I LOVE this piece in the song - your are fantastic - I wish I could play even just a note! This has encouraged me to try and I will now. Thank you. Rush, Yes & Kansas are wicked bands.
@rushyeskansas No worries Mate. Well, guess wot? After our trip back home to New Zealand next week, we are buying some keyboards when back in the US - I can't wait, I'm gonna give it a go. Thanks again for the inspiration. Syn ;-)
if i am a good teacher or not, depends on the point of view. there are some different opinions here about that! .. or maybe you are not a good student :)))
you have a very good taste concerning to you favorite bands! ... and you are welcome, for people like you i made my video lessons! thanx for commenting and subscribing ... rocking greetz!
Excellent! Couldn't be clearer or more accurate. Though a guitarist, I have always wanted to be able to play this song on kybd. I tried to figure it out on my own, without much success, no frame of reference. Thanks to you I can see that this is actually a breeze! If you haven't already, how about a tutorial on "The Wall"?
O hell no..I have no doubts..i been playing piano for 20 years...I thought u were awesum is all...I love to watch and listen to sum1 that knows what there doing .Plus i love the old songs.... PE@CE
Thanx man, unfortunately i don´t have that video where i am playing the whole song in one piece! why do you want it, do you still have any doubts? feel free to ask! i will reply!
I'm good at playing by ear, because I don't remember how to read a sheet music, I leart in high school and I never thought I'd miss it lol
But my second problem is that my old piano has some keys of tune, so it's nearly impossible to get more than a few notes right because of that, even with tutorials it's annoying because it just never sounds right lol
I'd try to fix it when I can afford it ^^
Most accurate piano version I've heard yet, thanx for sharing ;)
I guess Im just getting grumpy in my old age! lol I remember the days when you had to goto clubs and listen to pick up licks: I don't how how we survived! hah
Sorry I came off so mean spririted. Everyone have a good day
Great video! I found out last night we are playing this tonight and what a godsend these vids were. For those of you that bashed this: go in the other room and play guitar hero, the musicians are talking!
Thanx for the comment man, but i don´t think the guys wanted to bash my video. they just didn´t agree with the way i make my tutorials, becauce they did not see my intention. hope you have a nice show or rehearsal or whatever tonite! keep rockin´
Max, you did not understand my intention. I don´t comment my lessons, not because i want to make you look ... i want to make you listen!!! thats the important what you should learn here! playing from listening, then you won´t need these video tutorials anymore!!! thanx for your comment!

Wow wtf? How does anybody ever learn to play songs on the piano this way. And ya it is only playing songs, its not playing piano, when you play piano you learn from the sheets and memory. IF you play from this, how do you know if he is wrong or not. WIth sheets you can tell if you are playing the wrong notes or not.
hey dude if u open your eyes there isn't sheet music for everything, its good you can read music, but what if there isn't any music? then you better start listning and figuring it out, cuz if you can't do that, then your fucked haha
I agree with you. i think it is important to know how to read and play sheet music. but as important it is to be able to play something just by listening. 95 % of all the music, that i play on guitar or keyboard, i learned by listening! maybe sometimes it is not 100% original, but neither is sheet music, except of the most of the classical piano stuff. But when it comes to Rock or Pop music, it is really hard to find good scores.
yea dude im suppose to learn this song for a gig in a few days, im suppose to have it ready by sat, and before i found these vids i learned most of it by ear :D its fun i play alot by ear, im not much of a sheet music ready i tend to read the music, then figure the rest out on my own haha
thank you for making this. I think this is the only tutorial on youtube for this part in the song and i have been looking for it for so long so thanks again!
