  • Well they look differnt due to the arrival of 2409 technology in TOS timeline. technically the JJ Enterprise could go toe to toe with the Sovereign.

  • I had no real problem with killing George Kirk, Amanda Greyson, Spock and Uhura in love, the Romulans, or any of that. I think most people who had the major issues there went looking for reasons to hate it before they saw it. What I did have issue with was the resign of the Enterprise and the constructing it on earth. And what I will have issue with is if JJ Abrams bitches out and just does a remake of Wrath of Khan. In fact I say no JJ WoK, and no JJ Reliant. Let him come up with something else

  • ROFLKOPTER :D

  • god help us if khan gets a hold of this beauty

  • I'd hate to see what would happen if JJ Abrams ever got his hands on the Galaxy-class...

  • @Carpathia1086 0.o

    AUUGH! AAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!

  • I had a lot of respect for JJ's talent.........and then he did Star Trek, i like the film but the new models are fugly, he should of left them alone and just given them a new coating of paint.

  • JJ Universe does suck, and as I understand it there is going to be another Star Trek Movie. If I am going to go see it, He'd best change the Enterprise to look at least similar to what it was before.

  • Everything in the JJ universe just sucks!

  • I think the Naycelles should be slightly further away from the rest of the ship. The Warp-field would be disrupted otherwise ;o) This is fantastic work though.

  • i halte what jj do with star trek! jj destroy star trek!!!

  • Always preferred the refit enterprise era stuff myself simply the most iconic to me even over the original series

  • For better or worse, it fits. Well done.

  • SWEET

  • I'm not trying to start an argument, but I'm really curious: why do so many fans hate the 2009 movie?

  • Looks a bit bottom heavy

  • A total ruination of the Miranda Class...

  • Mr. Sulu, Target their Warp Engines...

  • i wish i could share your optimisum but stubborn stupidity is a hardcore corporate trait.

  • SHITE!

  • It's think it looks better than the Miranda class, but it looks less evil :)

  • Where is the Deflector Dish?

  • I like what JJ did to the Klingons in the deleted scenes of XI giving them helmets was ingenius. The best part is i still don't know what they look like underneath making them more mysterious.

  • I love the old Reliant, but I'm also a huge fan of the J.J. Abrams take on Trek and I have to say that I really like this Reliant. It has a very streamlined look to it, and I dig the dual hangars. Great job here!

  • looks like a submarine

  • I have no problems with the J.J. Abrams version of Enterprise, and I think this was a nifty take on the Reliant. Well done! :)

  • Explain to me how this is better then the original Reliant from Star Trek 2? This ship looks ridiculous! The work is good but the choice of design was poor.

  • this thing looks like it was built by fisher price or mattel. JJ needs to be shown the door.

  • @woofdogmeow Give it time, my friend. JJ and his clueless flunkies have one, maybe two more movies to screw with Star Trek before Paramount say's "GET OUT"!

Then cooler heads will prevail and put the REAL Star Trek universe back on course.

These stupid movies will end up on "Alternate Realities" DVD specials and be forgotten.

"Keep on truckin' JJ! You're gonna' be gone sooner than you think"!

  • @Actionguy1 um.....the movie already takes place in an alternate timeline/ dimension. Relax, everything we have already seen in the original movies still "happens".

  • My question on the Miranda Class starships , where is the deflector array?

  • This is really interesting! so this is what the Miranda class vessel would look like in the JJ universe! I wonder how long this continuity will last and how much they will build upon it

  • I don't really like the JJ universe changes made to the starships, the changes have been made to TOS only though because it's been set in that time period, I wonder what he is going to do to the refit Enterprise/Reliant and the Excelsior?

  • @SSJCLIFF I don't know if he ever will. He's at the start of the 5 year mission right now. He has a lot of time, and TOS villians (Harry Mudd, anyone) to play with before he ever gets to the Motion Picture era.

  • @rtrowbridge word on the street is the next villion will be Khan so we might see somthing like this

  • @rtrowbridge The 2009 movie takes place ten years before TOS's 5-year-mission.

  • @SSJCLIFF The original refit Enterprise will no doubt never exist! they were probably planning the constitution class vessels before the changes in the timeline which means its possible that the Excelsior class might never exist at all! the timeline hasn't just been tweaked it was put in a blender!

  • @SSJCLIFF The "new" Star Trek takes place 18 years before the building of the Excelsior...

  • @SuperJuliusC the new ST takes place in another timeline/dimension......so there doesnt even have to be an Excelsior class ship design.

  • @johnkerry7 NERD!

  • @SuperJuliusC least i didnt know the amount of years between ship builds :p

Plus they even say in the movie it is another univers. ;)

  • @johnkerry7 NERD!^^

  • @SuperJuliusC padron me while i adjust my glasses sir ;)

  • @johnkerry7 Just kidding!

And the only reason why I guess that there is a difference of eighteen years is because the original show started in 1966 and "Star Trek III" in 1984!

But: ILM always said that Excelsior was supposed to be a "Manga-Version" of the Enterprise - I doubt it because I couldn`t find big eyes and big boobs on it!

  • @SSJCLIFF you do know JJ universe takes place in an alternate timeline right? So....nothing "has" to happen or be the same as in the Universe we watched growing up. So to that end, there still is Vulcan home world in TOS and TNG etc etc universe.

  • That looks terrible. So does the new Enterprise (JJ's). I can not emphasize that enough, TERRIBLE

  • I am almost certain that the Going to Warp scene in Star Trek had a Reliant-like configuration in it. But I was too busy admiring the Constellation-like ship to care.

  • @AeronPeryton Yeah. It's kind of wierd though, because in the prime universe, there weren't any other class of starship besides the constitution until after the enterprises' refit and when Kirk became an admiral. He's still a cadet at the beginning of the movie.

  • @benjaminmullin96 It's not weird. The attack on the Kelvin prompted Starfleet to rethink things and that probably meant pushing ahead a lot of designs that were previously going to be held back until the current ones wore out. It's very Chaos Butterfly. All the Narada did was destroy one ship... and that changed everything.

  • @AeronPeryton That's true. But, it is very obvious that there was only one type of starship in the prime universe at that time because of a very low budget.

  • @benjaminmullin96 Oh, that. There were quite a few ship classes in use by Starfleet at the time (The Kelvin herself) they were just never seen on film... because of a very low budget.

  • @benjaminmullin96 In the original series we very rarely see any other star fleet vessels other than the Enterprise! and all the others are just more Constitution class vessels! I always thought that was more to do with production limitations of the old series rather than the fact that star fleet only consisted of on vessel type in the movies and later series they were able to depict a whole fleet of other vessels in a more fleshed out universe that the 60s tv budget couldn't allow

  • But, all that aside. The video gets two thumbs up. Simply for the sheer work put into it. Great work to all involved.

  • The JJ Abrams's Universe roughly translates to another one of Hollywoods batched up efforts to reinvent something that should have been left alone. I have watched the movie a few times. And I try each and every time to like this picture, but I just cannot do it. I don't know about everyone else, but I like the REAL STAR TREK UNIVERSE! Not this rehash JJ Travesty. Imo, the REAL RELIANT would cut any SO-Called Fake Starfleet JJ Fakeverse ship into little bite sized pieces.

  • @P54cause If it were up to me and the movie was set in this era I would have gone to great lengths to ensure everything conformed to star trek canon! the ship would look exactly like the one in the original series both inside and out! like when the defiant made an appearance in "Enterprise" a few years ago! I'd even have the proper shuttles like the galileo,

  • The original Reliant just looked so menacing. I don't get that vibe at all from this version. It's a can't we all just get along design, instead of lean, mean and angry, imo.

  • that nacelles........

  • heres a battle fact for ya. You put this reliant up against TWOK version aswell as the TMP counterpart and both TMP and TWOK reliants will easily outmatch this one.

  • The thing is the reliant would'nt appear in the JJ movie timeline. The bulky engines of the 2009 movie are supposed to be like the nacelles of TOS, which were rounded. The Enterprise Refit and the Reliant of all of the Star Trek movies had different, sleeker nacelles than the ones from TOS, so if the producers behind the 2009 movie wanted to do those kind of ships, they would have completely different nacelles from these.

  • It looks ugly but most of the re-imagined ships in the JJ travesty look so I guess you succeeded! :)

  • the enginees just look stupid to bulky

  • @mcfuson37 I agree they look bulky, but the same can be said for the JJ Enterprise. The two ships in ST2 are still my favorite ships in the Trek Universe.

  • @rtrowbridge "Target engines only... understood?"

  • @rtrowbridge what was the quote" young minds, fresh ideas..lets be tolerant"

  • @mearp69

I totally agree! Kirk said that line in Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock , when the USS Enterprise was coming inside the massive space dock and Scotty said, "And if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon." because Scotty did not like the USS Excelsior's cutting edge technology over the Enterprise's technology.

  • @rtrowbridge JJ ignored that age old saying, "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

  • @VinnyMonster1 Kinda Ironic that you say that, considering Roddenberry himself was never happy with the orignal TOS model for the Enterprise

  • @superjump01 Well, you learn something new every day :)

  • @mcfuson37 i like JJ Abrams's trek but yea im gonna have to agree. Some parts of his version of the Reliant look slightly overdone and out of ballence.

  • nice
