Sigh, EC was fun. the early / mid-nineties were the best. In my early teen years watching your show was my only escape from a small town. I still hold on to those great songs you introduced me to. Hope you are well Monika.

@biking3816: There might no be anyway to bring this show back if CTV says anything about it (although they've been forced to keep Much Music playing music videos by the CRTC.)
MTV Canada had something kind of like this, but very much watered down. The "host" looked like a tool, there were maybe 12 people dancing, the rest were wearing glowsticks and the "dancers" in the windows looked they weren't dancing. :/
I used to put Much on and play it all day as background and stop when the good interview or news reports came on. That was back when they had great vj's like George and Sook, it was soooo much cooler then MTV (hardly any bans on content) then around 98 the soul started being sapped out of the station. They have to borrow good vj's from the space channel whenever they want anything done right..... I might turn on VIDEO ON TRIAL but thats it ...
@audib6turbo Yeah I remember they had the show live from Canada's Wonderland and Alice Deejay was there and it was Monica Deol's last time hosting the show. After she left the show went downhill and eventually cancelled.
So Electric Circus came out on the air in 1992? Too bad i missed those years between 92-96 because the music was awesome back then, befitting of a show like EC. I started watching it in 1996 but it was still good too. Definitely miss that show:(
Electric Circus started in '88. They played a lot of the underground dance music vids and hosted lots of acts that you wouldn't see on other video shows, unless you had cable Much Music or MTV, which I didn't have. I liked watching the dancers to learn the moves, like people used to do back in the 70s watching Soul Train! :)
@sakusia: It came on the air in 1987, in Toronto on City-TV (which was tied to Much Music and CHUM as a corporate sibling.) It then became nationwide on Much Music in 1992.
@davergaver MuchMusic is going to bring it back. For two reasons; the general public is factually stupid. MuchMusic knows what to cater to this crowd, and their idiot MTV ripoffs are what make them money. You can blame commercial crap pop music of the late 90s that attributed to this shit; puff daddy, spice girls, backstreet boys, etc. And if you remember EC well enough, Puff Daddy and his retard accomplices actually appeared on EC's Top 10 list.
@kamilmytnik: Hate to break it to you, but Puff Daddy, The Spice Girls, and Backstreet Boys are dance music for a lot of people, and EC would have been left behind or considered outdated if they didn't play them. They also still played electronica, house, acid house, etc.
As for Much bringing it back: I'm not too sure about that one, since there's already BPM TV that also covers dance.

Where can i find videos of the show previous to this called BOOGIE?
nuneswhite 1 year ago
@nuneswhite I'm also looking for the boogie show, that aired in the 1970's from 1974-1979
Much more music around 10 years ago aired the retro boogie dance party containing clips from Boogie. Have you had any luck finding anything?
