  • Гениальный ребенок...Какие звуки...куда все делось? Очень жаль, когда музыка становится средством зарабатывания денег , исчезает любовь к ней.

  • Staring up at Heaven all day as Choping watches you playing Chopin will give any pianist a strained look. Good too see this, I have never seen a young Kissin and try to avoid the adult, he's simply impossible to watch.

  • my God i just turned 15 and I will get a nosebleed if i try to play that piece.

  • kissin @ 15yrs. old...wow...bravo!

  • holy crap he plays the mazurka like a walz! that´s really weird. if not completely failed.

  • His expressions, his looks, and even his hair style didn't change. However, the biggest deal that he was, is, and will always be a real pianist. May you always inspire us Kissin <3 !

  • oh god his hair is still the same

  • @jtfunkymojo Oh yes. But he was so cute :D I don't know why his face changed so much.

  • why haven't I heard of this guy before?

  • @arrowpierced Could it be because you were living under a rock then?...

  • @arrowpierced vives en marte o jupiter e.e

  • When I was his age, I could barely pee in a straight line... his exactness, and ferocity are inspirational.

  • damn how can he feel and portray those emotions at that age

    biiiiiiiig fan !

  • do u know what year this was in ?

  • @patdijj457 - Um watch beginning, says 1986.

  • SO a young boyy!

  • thats my child in five years...or thousand

  • it has something to do with his previous life. He was born already pianist I think. Genius. Bravo Zhenya !

  • How can such a young boy, have such a high emotional intelligence? Ah, evolution, thy name i Kissin!!!

  • how old was he back then??? .... enfant prodige...

  • Awesome Performance when Puberty hits hard.

  • damn... never heard someone playing this piece better then him.... would like to watch an actual recording of him (this playing of cours)... if someone got it please post me that link .. thx...

thx. for uploading for this one .....

  • There is nothing more inspiring for me to practice playing piano than listening/watching a young Evgeny Kissin. I guess the thought process works like this: Hearing/Watching Rubinstein/Horowitz/Arrau/Argerich/etc makes me think I still have time to get great because they are considerable older than me. But these young Kissin videos show me that he is so far beyond me and so many years younger. When I get good I'm going to thank Kissin.

  • he was only 15 at that time (born in 1971)

  • The greatest pianist (living) in the world in another great recording.

  • There is nothing more inspiring for me to practice piano than watching a young Evgeny Kissin. Seriously.

  • @TwelfthRoot2 he inspired me to stop playing piano and just listen

  • @QueersNFags6000 I could never stop.

  • @QueersNFags6000 "QueersNFags6000" you are hilarious and brilliant for that comment!! I say the same thing and I have Master's from Juilliard. You truly made my day with that comment. :)

  • His looks are quite a powerful distraction from the music, should have given live concerts behind a partition, so the people could only hear him, not see him, tthat would have thrilled the audiences. Anyway, this is an interpretive bear, the big names making fools of themselves all over the UTube, but this kid stays out of trouble, for the most part.

  • okay, who are the 13 idiots who gave this a thumbs down??

  • He was 15 years old at this recital?

    Awesome

  • It's funny this "the best!, the greatest!, the super!, etc" thing american culture loves to care about. He is great in his own way. That's enough to me.

  • @stagesix6 I fully agree. America could be more productive. Folks seem to love labels & awards/accolades @ the expense of pure artistry. It is an extremely "visual" society, to say the least!

  • Too bad Kissin isn't as good as he used to be once. I've been to his recital last year in the Concertgebouw concert hall last year - I wasn't impressed too much.

He is a great pianist, no doubt. One of the best in the world, no doubt. It just seems that his recordings of when he's young are so much better than his newer ones.

  • Well this is the best he's ever looked. And he's better then an average pianist. Def not world class tho.

  • @tigertolyy I agree with the looks part (he's so cute here!), but please check out his rendition of La Campanella before saying the 2nd part of the sentence... :<

  • @chriistiee i have seen him play la campanella.. dont get me wrong i think hes extremely good. :)

  • @tigertolyy What the fuck did you just say? Horrible things should happen to you and everyone/thing you love.

  • The young Kissin must be mentioned in the same breath as Mozart, Korngold, Josef Hoffman and several other child prodigies; this and his performances of the Chopin Concertos at age 12 are among the musical marvels of all time. Many thanks for sharing this treasure; more young Kissin, please!

  • @billyguns2 I completely agree!

  • This is superb for me, for any age. Very alive and flowing. A pleasure to listen too.

  • The best in the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @awesomewelles90

Why do some people think it clever to trot out the name of some other artist as a cheap way of rubbishing the present one? Tatum was an extraordinary pianist of genius, but this in no way diminishes the greatness of the young Kissin, a child prodigy in every sense of the word. His legendary performances of the Chopin Piano Concertos at the age of 12 are among the best available.

  • Why does anyone do anything?!

  • shut the fuck up you idiot

he was only 15 years old at this recording

still better then most of every player on the world

  • Kissin has the best hair style of all time!

  • Please... Hair style is the least interesting point of this entire video!!!!! Sorry man, but this is ridiculous!

Apart from that. What a talent, beaufitul.... This is the pinnacle of art for me, for sure!

  • I was just kidding. Everyone already knows that Kissin is a great pianist, so I talked about the hairstyle.

  • ok.. hehe. sorry about my bitchy reaction then..

  • Acho que nunca vi alguem tocar com tanta vontade. Acho que o êxtase musical que ele transmite diz por sua voz!

  • hes so good it pisses me off

  • @TrollApproaches lmao me too

  • he made me loving classic music ... thx. evgeny ...

look at his face... like he is not only dreaming of that former chopin's world, HE IS THERE AT THAT MOMENT .. AMAZING

    THX FOR UPLOADING

  • evgeny is a fenomenan

  • i love you very much evgeny

  • @Mike1614b may be a bit academic ? But i liked this interpretation however

  • @Mike1614b "Robotic and indulgent"? Aren't those two terms contradictory?

  • it looks as if he releases the first note by opening his eyes.

  • What a treat to see a video of Kissin this far back! Well, let's see, he must be 12 or 13 here. The youngest performance of his i have ever seen on YouTube was at 15 years old. Of course he always had incredible raw talent, but it is clear to see how much further he has come: mature, polished, passionate, convincing.

    Thank you for posting.

    Katheryne

  • @ProLifeMontanaLass

It says 1986 at the beginning of the clip, which would make him 15.

  • Learn to spell.

  • seriously i just keep watching this over and over and over

  • °-°

how old is he in this video?!?

    chapeau!!! :-D

  • 15

  • Now this is playing with emotion. So many musicians claim to play with emotion, but you can't really hear it that much, you don't feel it. This makes me feel what he feels.

  • most musicians like lang lang pretend to play with emotion because they know they don't FEEL the music but evgeny truly can feel the music and express and interpret it

  • @nmbanana How can u know what Lang Lang feels?? this is ridiculous...

  • @F4sT

you can tell by the crap that most people call music that lang lang produces

  • @nmbanana come on look at his career.. and performances.. He is one of greatest pianists of our time. and you?? who are you??

  • i dnot know if u are right, but I dont like lang lang as well.

  • @nmbanana

i don't really see why lang lang has to be brought up...

i also think that just because one person doesn't feel what a musician is expressing, it doesn't mean that there's no expression. i might not like one musician's interpretation, but it doesn't mean i think they're crap...

  • wow..that;s amazing check out the song i composed for him..in a better place...

  • hours and hours of practice !!! - btw i love his playing:)

  • Just Kissin, just incredible. That's all you need to know

  • He plays extraordinarily well since he's a kid.

    How I envy him...

  • Hermosa pieza musical, ejecutada con sentimiento y dulzura.100 para ti Evgeny Kissin.

  • cool... how old is he in this?

Well, i guess it doesn't matter since he's so good now, he's preobably just as good in the past... ;)

  • I don't know, I think (for this piece at least) he was even better at this age and performance than he can do now :)

I really love his performance on this piece!

  • same here ;)

  • Why isn't Kissin always this musical? So often he plays for virtuosity's sake, but this is truly wonderful.

  • bravo...bravo...milion times bravo!!!

  • Son son est pur, selon moi il jout avec beaucoup d'authentisité et sans flafla.Son interprétation est tres intelligente,c'est la meilleur que j'ai entendu, je la recommande a tous.

  • cheers to youtube, i feel so lucky to be able to catch clips of kissin from so long ago...

    the mazurka is fascinating.

  • So emotive. He was only 15 here.

  • Wow, he could play like this when he was only 15! I'm 19 and I can't play anything similar to this!

    Cheers from Brazil.

  • his performances in his youth are more often spot-on and eloquent than in his current repertoire.

the word genius is thrown around like bird food nowadays, but this is there is something abnormally mature about this mazurka.

  • One of my classmate who plays the piano looks like Kiisin in young age, maybe he once will be known as perfect pianist, like Evgeny Kissin...

  • no such thing as perfection in art

  • Perfection is the state when no mistakes can be perceived. Hence, this is perfection.

  • What an awful definition of perfection. Without musicality, "perfection" means nothing. As a performer, I hope I never reach something I perceive as perfect, because then I can't aim for something better.

  • That's a nice philosophical definition. But in everyday life, I tend to say "perfect" to mean that I am satisfied in every way possible.

  • For some reason watching his hands is more interesting than watching other pianists hands. He seems to have such an elegant stride over them.

  • kissin's playing is showing how chopin felt when he write this...it's as if chopin's ghost were playing this. escpecially at 4:36

  • c'est vraiment beau!

  • he seems almost floating behind the piano...just amazing.

  • ha ha,he looks right at the camera at 2:38 I know,it's really hard to resist.I did that once during a concert.A guy was filming for a local TV station and when I saw the tape,to my horror,I looked right at the camera he was filming out of at that moment xD

  • good

how long are you playing the piano ??

  • good

  • Bravo young man. You make the greatest pianist of all time proud 150 years after his life.

  • Veeeeeeeery Beautiful(^ v ^)♪♪♪

    感激~!!! He is a genius!!!!!

  • he was 15 O.o!

  • Comment removed

  • oh god he was so young

    very nice

  • Wha?

  • ind:eed

  • What are you saying? Kissin is one of the most fascinating artists today... You're a fool.

  • pure feelings !!

    i like it !!

  • ...still has the same hairstyle ,lol !

  • wow! he looks so young....well,he was lol

  • wow

  • i highly doubt it sounded anything close to this.

  • probably the best pianist of our times

  • perfect

  • Kissin seems to be in a state of trance when he plays, already as a young boy; it's mesmerizing to see him. Thanks so much for this video, I would never have believed it ..., this is an important document.

  • Um...I think Aurorin was aware of that.

  • I think this kid will be a great pianist in the future.... lol

  • he's already a man he plays in a lot of conserts and anyway errrrr :) lol

  • uh, this was in 1986 and he's been quite famous in the piano world since then

  • i think he was being sarcastic

  • lol ya, the smart ones got it...no offense dudes :)

  • WOW

  • I almost enjoy watching Kissin at this age more than now as an adult. So much musical maturity beyond his years.

I'd still kill to see him now though....:)

  • i was thinking the same

  • man... i just love the way he plays it.. he seems to know what chopin wanted to say with his music...

  • i love his style ~~~

    GREAT !!!!!!

  • because a child is more flexible than an adult in every way...

  • Pervert.

  • Haha!

  • Hahahahahahaha!

  • Hahahahaha!

  • He played with more musical flexibility then than he does as a adult. Why?

  • Because he hadn't as much concerns as he has as an adult -- maybe.

  • I´m gonna listen this composition on tuesday played by Kissin at the Madrid Auditorium

  • How old is he here?

    Amazing....

  • 15 y o

  • All that comments who compaires this interpretation with Biret or even Cortot makes me smile...here, Kissin was A CHILD!

That kind of comparations says to me: that people really think this lovely child is pretty good in his work because he deserves those comments!

  • INCREDIBLE HIS FACIAL EXPRESSION

  • Angel of God

  • o rly?

  • Stupendo e unico!!

  • you should change your handle to callous

  • All I can tell you, is that kissin has a GREAT singing tone. If you can't decipher that, you have no ear. Interpretation is relative either way. Good luck

  • Great playing, but the sound is disgraceful for a recording from 1986.
