From the appearance, I'd say this poor fuzzy caught the wrong end of a power line and had them fried off. Common accident for these poor little creatures. They can safely traverse up to 13KV lines as long as they don't touch anything else. But, sadly, when getting off the power line (or on) is when this happens. This one was either lucky, or unlucky, to have survived (you decide).
I cant imagine the pain this caused, it is trying to dig for food with the wounded stumps. A wildlife rescue would try and trap him for his own good, might be worth giving them a call. He/she will not survive am afraid, so so sad.
This little creature has had its arms severed somehow you can tell by the redness of the wound. Grey Squirrels in the UK are classed as vermin which is a shame as we introduced them and as far as I am concerned have a duty of care. Humans are the main reason our red squirrels are dying, they live in pine trees, we have a liking to pine furniture this makes their living space too small so they come in contact more often with the grey than they would if we left them alone.

The wounds are not that old. He is full grown. Look at how he STILL tries to use his hands? Would he if he was used to them being gone?? He can't hide now, that is a given. These creatures live by climbing... To this effect and missing his tail as well, which way does the probability lean? In my opinion, this does open one's eyes to how the world can be this cruel.

Since he has more than once been found in your yard, maybe he actually lives near you, and knows it is a relatively safe place.Have you seen where he sleeps? What does he eat? I wonder how he survives so well without "hands" to use for feeding himself.He looks ealthy and well, so he must have learned well how to survive.
