Hi! Im currently looking for foreign film that I can recommend for my world cinema club. And judging by the comments this movie seems really good. My questions are: Would you suggest this film to a group of people? does it really reflect life in the slums of Brazil? and lastly since this film would be shown to a class, are there alot of sex scenes?

City of god is a really amazing movie but there are a lot of violet scenes and sex scenes too. the movie reflects life in a particular period of time and in this specif context. but it's a movie. there is no obligation with the reality.

@DeeMz90 Whoever you show this movie in public, dont try to shpw them to kids...it is away too heavy, lots of bad words, sex and violent scenes. It is a good movie though...ELITE SQUAD is a little better and more realistic but not less violent than City of God.

Trailer does not do this film justice. City of God is above and beyond any typical Hollywood action nonsense.
