Oro is a horrible opponent for Ibuki. He has an infallible anti-air move, unpredictable jumps, excellent air-to-air, good defense, higher single-hit damage, and his body is so small that Ibuki can't land some of her best chains on him (her high moves are especially useless against him). So the outcome wasn't too surprising.
The Oniyama (down-charge-up punch). Yes, it can be parried, but any non-throw move can be parried, and the variety of ranges this move has (one-hit jab, far one-hit strong, multi-hit fierce) makes it about as infallible an anti-air move as there is, and it's harder to parry than Remy's Flash Kick.
It's not too efficient as an anti air. It's good as such against characters oro can efficiently turtle, like Hugo. But having to charge down limits its use outside combos and punishing tatsumakis/SBK. It doesn't help that the only multi-parry ones go WAAAAY out so if you're on the ground in the corner and someone jumps over you into the corner, your offensive options are very limited.
But since that's a year-old comment your understanding of the move has probably evolved.
Wrong. Any anti-air can be air-parried, but just having it throws a wrench into opponents' jump-in combos. Oro has an army of alternate options (jump-attack, jump-air throw, dash under crossup, standing strong, standing roundhouse, crouching fierce...) that makes it nearly impossible to guess what he'll do next. As for the charge, only a very stupid Oro would sit in one place. You charge while jumping and dashing, and during Sun Disk Palms.
I use Ibuki in tournaments in the MD/VA area (and have won a couple as well...plan on taking her to Evo Vegas this year) so I know a thing or 2 about the ninja. Of course I did a lot of research through watching Japanese vids and trial and error against the not so common matchups. Ibuki has the mobility/pokes to keep Tengu Stone pressure off of her but if Oro lands s.MP...GGPO. In Japan the matchup is said to be 6 to 4 in Oro's favor. Not a bad matchup...but Oro has some obvious advantages.
Devil, I enjoy reading your post in Shoryuken. It would be great it if you can upload some vids of you in action or some other good Ibuki matches in your collection.
Oro can duck under EX qcb+K kicks and can weave his way thruogh EX kunais (due to quick dash/double jump). He also can literally jump through Kasumi Suzaku. I have a match vid saved where I threw out the super from a good height and Oro was able to jump through and dash out of the super. SA3 allows you to punish him for random pokes (cuz his poking game overall beats yours) and short bar means you'll usually have it ready after you land a combo.
7-3 ibuki, EASILY. top 3 hardest matches in the game for oro

That's not Aruka. Even against oro is better to use SA1, Aruka would be better.

I agree i don't think its aruka at all

Oro isn't cocky. He just doesn't want to kill who hes fighting.

are you sure this is Aruka and not Hossy? Aruka uses (sa1) and Hossy uses (sa3)
laokido 4 years ago
Most players use more than one SA.
XiaoJjang 4 years ago
reason being because SA1 seems to be ineffective against oro. there are no easy setups.

Yeah I noticed a lot of Ibuki tournament players using SA3 when fighting ORO. Maybe this is more effective against him?
vadryan 5 years ago
strange seeing aruka using yami shigure (sa3) instead of kasumi suzaku (sa1)
anyone knows why?

Looks like Aruka was off form in this match
