Ltte came out just because that gang of looters needed money,, power and mental pleasure after killing thousands,, by using their own people as baits... Sri Lanka is free now.. You can freely walk, talk and breath...

Channel $ should have the basic Journalistic ethics to give both side of the story. Hence this video gives a very productive explanation to tell the real truth to the world. LTTE is a Terrorist organization and they killed Innocent unarmed civilians including children. why not Channel 4 show those also?? Gordon Weiss is a shameless person paid by LTTE international ring.
just like we will never know about all the civilian lives lost in iran and afghanistan and iraq and argentina and columbia and many, many other places.
i would like to believe that the governments of the world can one day show us the truth and admit their wrongs...but this is perhaps a naive idealism...
i am hoping that more debate will emerge and that this video is widely circulated, particuarly to channel 4.
sorry about the essay response! i didn't realise i had so much to say about it!!!!
the LTTE came into existence because of unequal distributions of power that were felt ethnically. i believe that this is the issue the Sri Lankan state now needs to focus on. Building a Sri Lanka that is truely representative of the diverse cultures and ethnicities that thrive on land. with regards to the who-killed-whom debate, this i think we will never know....
however, they left out (like ch4 leaving out the bits that didn't fit with their 'story') the historical context of why the LTTE came into existence in the first place and that is the centuries old conflicts between the various tamil and sinhala populations.
this video reply had a different aim. one to (rightly) present the LTTE as a terrorist organisation and proving the innocence of the Sri Lankan Army of the crimes they were accused of in the ch4 doc. I believe they presented the LTTE situation quite well and highlighted some key areas that ch4 left out such as the recruitment of child soldiers and female suicide bombers and the LTTE intolerance for anyone, in particular anyone tamil, crossing them.
in my opinion, the documentary was two years out of date and if the producers aim was really to inform social justice, it would have been aired whilst the war was going on not almost two years after, when all of those people are already dead. but i agree in as far as countries (not just sri lanka) need to be accountable in upholding social justice and not covering up where things went wrong, as they are bound to do in the dirty world of war and conflict.
i think it's important to have as many sides to a 'story' as possible as i don't believe there is ever one story or one truth. rather, that these truths are situated in individual, cultural, social, historical, political and economic contexts. for example, the channel 4 documentary was focused on a particular story to tell: one of unaccounted for deaths of the civilian population in the north and casting the british eye of judgement over another country's affair.

People who are angry at the war's outcome should visit Sri Lanka and find their own truth, rather than blindly funding more killing.
