How fun! I'm also making seed bombs this year to use in Southern NH. Figured it was a good winter project so I have them for this Spring. Have been dying to try it but hadn't gotten around to it. This is the year. So glad to see someone else from the Northeast having fun with seed bombs. Thanks for inspiration.
What do you use to wrap the seed balls with.where do you get coco fibers. If you don't have red clay is sand okay?If you don't have a composte bin then where do you get the three parts composte?

@impossibleXlilXbratX You can use organic peat moss to sub for compost. I mix this with Japanese akadama soil(found in bonsai supply section) . I use 3/4 cup of peat moss to 1 3/4 cup akadama soil. Add water little bit by bit-not too much. You could add red clay, but I just add some organic dried sphagnum moss to keep it together and absorb any excess water.
Thanks so much for the great instructions! I'm going to do this activity with kids at a camp this weekend. I'm bringing my dried sunflower heads from my garden. This will be so much fun!!
How deep do you plant them? Also I live in Las Vegas and a lot of the stuff I've saw and then tried from youtube has not worked here in the desert, heat and lousy soil, lack of water. I should ad I was raised in big city no green thumb but I'm trying. any suggestions would be helpful knowing I live in the desert. THANKS
Where do you get clay? What is it called? I bought some dry red clay from eBay and it was quite expensive and when it came, I found it was for giving yourself a facial!
wearing gloves would been nice Here in FL we have a lots sand and bugs I would LOVE to get 100lbs of clay to light add to my garden to help with the drought we are having near record high heat in the mid 80s temps and very little rain
Your seed balls are brilliant! We will incorporate this concept into our botanical garden ,,, they do look like our soap spheres ~ most importantly your BEAUTIFUL skin has been inherited by your daughter ~ Lucky!
Very cool idea giving as a gift !! love the way they looked wrapped with a bow ! Great Idea !!
