Questa musica per quanto mi riguarda potrebbero inserirla pure in una scena di willy il coyote che rincorre beep beep,mi darebbe lo stesso una grande emozione! :)
There is another video of him perfroming this, with the same singer, and there is no glass barrier. Somethingmust have happened to cause him - or the concert promoters, to use one on this occasion.
This song is epic no matter the performing speed. After all it will last FOREVER. I am sure people will be hearing this even when humanity will be far away from earth
@SCfancritic that would be funny... but do you have a better idea for the glass to be there? is he the pope in an Ennio suit? someone in the audience trying to kill him? i believe the glass is there so he can direct the orchestra fully concentrated...
@woweda ....the musicians don't have control over the pace of the piece....nor it's dynamics....the "conductor" does. That's why he uses them....it's FAR more important than it looks. It's easy for four guys in a rock band to stay together...not so easy to keep an 80 piece orchestra together :)
I personally love Ennio's original, but you can't argue with Metallica's 4.5 million views, numbers don't lie, even "killing" a song doesn't matter anymore, Metallica pulled it off period...............
The sound quality of this video is poor and so disguises what an amazing singer this singer really is. A video of another concert had much better sound and her Ecstasy of Gold sent chills up and down mine spine. Unfortunately the video is no longer on Youtube.
I've listened to the other videos where I can positively identify Susanna Rigacci several times and the more I do the more I don't think this is her. Can anyone positively identify the soprano here and tell me if/where this concert is recorded on an audio format?
@kenwig0556 I think it is Susanna in this vidoe but I know what you mean. I have a great cd of Morricone conducting Munich Radio Orchestra in 2004 (Visual dvd) and Susanna is wearing that same dress. Also, she is the only soprano I know that snaps that last note at the end. In my dvd her hair is jet black. Going to see Morricone at Royal Albert Hall on April 10th - I`ll see if she is the soprano. Cheers
Thanks for the info. It just seems that the voice, if not the lady herself, in this piece is more robust than in the other (known) Susanna Rigacci performances? I will be interested to hear your review from Royal Albert Hall.
@kenwig0556 I have a spare copy (100% clarity) of the concert in Munich 2004 and its brilliant . Hour and half long and I guarentee you will watch it many times. If you want it you can have it for nowt and I'll post it to you. Cheers

The conductor (Morricone) isn't afraid someone would throw stuff at him. If that happened, Tuco would rush out from behind a curtain and shoot the thrower.
Agreed, we'd have to blame that on the conductor (who doesn't appear to be Ennio). This soprano is better than Susanna Rigacci who is in a lot of these other YouTube clips with Ennio. Still, the original score for the movie is much better and the original soprano hits it much better.
A stupid guess but maybe it is so he can hear the orchestra better and not be distracted by the audience applause and talking....and possibly stuff getting thrown at him lol
This is without a doubt the greatest western theme ever created. Not only did it make the movie "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" famous, but it captures and signifies the very essence of the "old west." Truly a masterpiece!
THESE PEOPLE HAVE TALENT LIKE CRAZY. THE MASTER COMPOSER---THE SONGBIRD LADY---THE ORCHESTRA---THIS IS DAMN SURE SOMETHING TO BOW DOWN TO!!!!! But don't forget about Eastwood, Van Cleef and Wallach either.

In May Ennio Morricone performed in Korea and just a few days ago in Chile.
On July 13th & 14th he will perform in Prague according to this website :-)
