What went on in Ireland far outstretches what is mentioned in passing here. over 1,000,000 died. Another 1,000,000 were forced to immigrate. The penal law imposed by the English had reduced the Irish to the status of slavery. Many were shipped off to the West Indies in chains alongside Africans as slaves. The system of revolt mentioned refers to the peoples hark back to the old Brehon Laws and embrace of the old boycotting system. It was the only way of fighting back. this pales by comparrison

jarsonist..............i was refering to the rough colonial era over here! it was as nasty as Afghanistan! tribes, clans, families, feuds, wars, and an untouched wild land full of big furry things than eat humans!!........then add the French and English wars to all this, and the American threat from the south, and ya get the picture!

@acerb45666555 yes the irish got it bad from the famine, (which was caused by the english). theyre was also a famine in the hihglands, and a time that was known as "the highland clearances". they were starved, raped and murdered
