  • Sorry if I haven't responded to some of these comments. I missed them somehow. I don't have plans to make this, unfortunately. Most of the parts were made with trial and error and I never documented the final "as built" design except in this video. Thanks for the feedback and let me know if any of you try something similar. I'd love to see.

  • how is it made i want to make one too

  • hello bluelava 0207!! im a student and need to no how your system works in full detail also all the components involved it is for a project, the thing i am stuck with is the inside of the machine how things go together the chain drive thing... the balls are on a kind of ramp arnt they so they are fed down a slope? if you could get back to me asap that would be great my email address is calcutter_9@hotmail.co.uk the spring loaded latch to feed the balls how does tht work its clever.....

  • wow interesting

  • smart, man

  • penholders rock!

  • pen holders rock!!!

  • i wish id have that machine..

  • awesome!

  • Unreal.

  • dude patent it!

  • the point of this is>?

  • SO..

  • I am impressed with your ingenuity on this pingpong projector.

Can you make the ball spin too on your next model? It's a good start.

  • Amazing :D and this is why I want to be a Yellow Jacket

  • great video editing!!!!!!!the rube goldberg not as impressive but still entertaining

  • Thanks. It's actually not a Rube Goldberg machine, as each component has a necessary function. If you can believe it, it's actually the simplest solution I could think of for a purely mechanical, gravity powered, multiple-ball pitching machine.

  • @bluelava0207 I bet ,i thinks its impressive but i really like the editing!all the best

  • omg very ingenious

  • amazing!!:D

  • omg thats amazing good job..im thinking about GT for mechanical engineering. can you tell me what its like for you?

im not sure where i wanna go

  • very impressive :)

  • can you make the same for badmington shuttle cocks

  • nice

  • I thought that the video was made really well...great job!

  • why'd u call this a robot? it has no autonomy, its just a machine

  • Very true. Actually, in table tennis, they refer to these pitching machines as "robots" even though, technically, they are not.

  • This is a beautiful piece of mechanical engineering. I'm currently trying to figure out how to accurately make escapement wheels and pallets, but from metal. Did you cut your escapement freehand, or shop-bot?

    Great job either way. 5*

  • nice

  • YEAH GEORGIA TECH

  • Yeah! Our table tennis team is headed to the national NCTTA Championships in Minnesota right now. Go Tech!

  • clever! awesome man, you should put a real table to test this homemade table :)

  • THAT IS SOOO NICE!!!

but why didnt u use an elctrical motor?

    it would have been easyer

    really congrats

  • As a clockmaker, I enjoy seeing the traditional Brocot escapement (and snail cam) used in something other than a clock - and on a HUGE scale! Very nice.

  • awesome!

  • very cool invention

  • i want one...but not for pong...

but that seems like a waste of money dude

  • this is a great invention! =D very creative! now make the ball SPIN! xD

  • cool!

  • 哥们自个做的吗?china

  • wtf xD

  • lol!

  • Dude, that's some inventive shit right there.

Congrats on your machine. Always alternatives to "high-tech" robots. =]

  • u relize tht technically tht is a robot and it is prtty high-tech well not rlllly high tech but it complex enough tht not an ordinary person could design it

  • sweet dude!!! i love inventions and rude golburg

  • I really like the oversized Deadbeat Escapement 8D , gives it that clockwork-charm :3 ... Very nice 5*

  • People like you, is the Best of Human Race !!!

  • could you put chicken nuggets in it and have the machine throw them into your mouth?

  • well obviously he could! the real question is, could he make it add your fav condoment while plummmmiting to your mouth!!!

  • I could imagine it getting kinda messy if you throw condaments into the equation too :P

  • sadly, that'd be more useful for beer pong. they'd get 1st place worldwide with that thing.

  • Hahah man that looks awesome..

  • nice!!

  • that guy has skill

  • haha thats great :] now just make a robot that returns the serves haha

  • I already have. A wall.

  • bahahahaha i forgot about that...

  • it's neat. Too bad it's bulky.

  • Cool

  • awesome thats some awesome desinging skills ... i think i wouldve gotten stuck at getting materials ... here in Bulgaria ... well DIY is kinda failed ... :/ wish i lived in england , AWESOME Work anyways!

  • holy shiet the dude is good o.o

  • awesome~!

  • This is a very impressive design, and it's powered by kinetic energy so it doesn't cost anything to use! Genius!

Have you sent in your design to ITTF or any major tt brands? This could be a serious money maker for you guys, not that you haven't already considered that of course ;)

  • im going to the Georgia vs. Gerogia Tech game next week. UGA is going to wreck you guys!

  • Do you have any specs available?

  • very cool.

  • wow, very nice video, and incredibly beautifull design! Nicely done!

  • I want one! too bad i have like 30$ cause I'm a 13 year old money waster.

  • Haha - that's cool.

  • Wow! I wish I had one of those to practice with in my apartment! On second thought, my cat would probably hate it. Glad to see your Maximilian seems to love it!

  • nice

  • That is an AWESOME machine man. Ingenious design.

  • Dude, Aaron, that's great! Now if only there was a serious market, you got a patent, beefed up the design a little in the robustness, and then you'd have your first million!

    -daa

  • There IS a market for table tennis robots. Just not so much in America.

  • awesome!!!

  • Aaron, way to go. You should modify it, then bust it out at practice sometime. hahahaha.

  • This is the greatest contraption ever created! Whoever were the geniuses who designed this newfangled mechanism of ping-ponging pandemonium, I must applauded you - for you have permanently changed the way the sport will be played. Godspeed GT Table Tennis.
