Whats the purpose of a magus/engineer? Are they the "Dot" class of this game? Don't seem to pull out big numbers. as in BIG hits but looks like in some videos they are just a major DOT class which if thats the case i think i will give them a try. I personally like the engineer more then teh magus so far. but reply to this and give me your thoughts.
Kind of, they both have a fair number of dots, but another source of lots of small numbers are their pets, which their damage is shared with. They both play and work about the same, but I prefer the engineer more personally. Both do exceptionally well in AoE situations, as most of their abilities affect everything around their intended target.
I've seen some REALLY low end systems running the game on minimum settings, It'll run, it's just a matter of how large of a battle you can be in before you start to see huge framerate drops. On that card you might have difficulty with larger battles, heavily defended/assaulted keep takes, and Fortresses/Cities might be slideshows...
Not gunna lie, that system would have some serious troubles running the game... It's a bit sub-par across the board, Processor should be fine, but... WAR is a bit more demanding than WoW and previous MMO's... I doubt if it'd be capible of much more than solo grind/questing without significant framerate loss... I'd try it if you can using a friends copy/account before investing much on it, or try to upgrade your computer.
i dont know much about computer stuffs so i dunno what to buy etc... its cheapier to build computer than buying from a store but i would need some help to build one
It sounds like your motherboard is pretty old, and should be replaced if you're building one... making it a rather involved process. If you have a tech-guy and/or nerdy friend they shouldn't have much trouble helping you figure out what is in your price range/what to get parts wise. Assembly isn't difficult, but you want someone there who has done it before, or have someone doing it who has built a computer before. Some online stores do pre-assembly if you buy all the parts from them though.
I'm having alot of fun with my magus! I'm lvl 15 now and so far he's been doing great. Especially is pvp, I always seem to finish in the top 3 most kills even when I think I've done bad. They got some serious dps
zealot nd rune priest (i think) have HoT (heal over time) mainly spells, disciple of khaine, i dont kno about, goblin shaman are HoA, you attack and then you heal, thats how they roll (so to say), archmage are hielven healers i dont kno much bout them, empire one to my knowledge is like the goblin shaman, HoA
Uhh.... Zealot and Rune Priest are largely HoT, but have many direct, and AoE heals at higher levels, which not many late-beta-testers knew about until release. The Shaman and Archmages heal and damage spells boost the other, but are not necissary for healing. DoKs and Warrior priests are capible of standing back, but are more effective doing damage and healing, they are the true Hybrid classes of the game.
Someone pls help put me out of my huuge dillema! Sorcerer or Magus? What should I make? I'm willing to cope with Magus's lower DPS if he has greater survivability than Sorcerer. But does he? ANd is it worth it? Pls if any1 can answer I'd be really grateful.
got my magus to level 20 and regret wasting time on it..they are glitched to hell and there not very strong..the summons are pathetic and considering there supposed to be long range the range of most spells is only 65ft which can be cleared in a second or 2 running so yeah i wudnt bother with one
They can be used in DEADLY combos later on once you get a few skills. A magus and a sorceress in our guild have been using the magus to suck everyone into melee, the sorc roots them all, then they AoE them all down rather quickly... but yeah... the Magus, for solo play, I would definatly not advise.
I have to say I'm a bit disppointed by the magus too. Magus tends to get his ass handed to him at least in the early stages, but that -might- improve with more spells in your arsenal. Once you get all of your dots in on a single target you manage to do OK dps, but it's nothing special.
Magus is quite versatile though, managing to dish out a fair amount of short-range AoE dps when grinding, but in RvR it's a suicide since everyone mobs you.
i hate to say it but i was REALLY disappointed by the magus. i think they built the cool factor on them too much but didnt really make them special. they are supposed to be long range dps, but your only good attk does OK damage and has a high cast time. and you dont get any buffs till like 20 and your pets suck!! the sorcerers are soooo much better and so are the order's wizards. all in all the magus is my least favorite mage class in the game. sorry but i tried till lvl 11 and gave up:[[[
Yeah. Hopefully the magus sees some love before long here... I had a name grab of Tony... was gunna have one nammed Tony Hawk... because I think they look silly on their discs... but... Rerolled it as Tony the Chosen... gunna go with Tony Stark... I don't know why anybody would care about this... your name had skate in it...
I still havn't actually played either of them very far in a while, and tons has changed for both classes. Currently I am on a witch elf, but the magus looks amazing, and is probably my second pick. The marauder is fun, but you might find yourself awkwardly trying to find your place in combat before the doors are down on keep seiges.
definitly marauder. they are awesome in rvr. you will get very frustrated w/ magus's in rvr because they just dont keep up with everyone else in my opinion. a lvl 2 marauder can kill a lvl 8 magus EASILY. i know from experience.
Those are pretty low levels to base it off of, particularly given that the marauder, being in a senario, or RvR area would have been bolstered to battle-rank 8, leveling the playing field a bit. How you managed to fight the same faction prior to the duel function is beyond me, but well done anyways.
i play a rank 13 magus, love him atm, you get your disk upgrades to spikes at rank 11, and im really looking forward to his minions/ pets to get revamped such as following you around as a squig but i dont tihnk tahts happening. Frankly the pets are horrible and i never use them and still rape face.
Yeah the Magus has been buffed a lot since this video/review was made. I'm spending time now playing, rather than making videos for now... but the Magus looks amazing.
I wrote the text portion 5 times, this was the most flattering version. One of the reasons I'm nervous about it going gold already. everyone hates to hear it, but this should have been pushed back a couple more weeks. I hope gamers will give it a chance, because its lots of fun, just not as polished as much as I'd like to see. But yeah, still tons of fun.
It looks amazing. I think the engine will be more or less the same, some things have been getting reworked, but it will look more or less the same. There are just crashes and small bugs here and there. Thats all I meant by unpolished.
do you have to stay on the disc?

I would recomend that you go engineer. As it is right now the eng is far superior to the magus.

I wouldn't doubt it, they were a little better when I stopped playing, but wasn't sure on balance changes since.

All in all, Magus is hard to play correctly.

Does the magus sit on the crapper with his disc still under his feet? :P

It would seem so. As the magus seems to awkwardly balance on his disc at all times.
