Smart thinking because if you looked closely, the parrrley healed him for 39 hp and he lived against karthus ult with 30 hp so it did save him. And I am pretty sure Gangplank did survive b/c it looked him he got hit once by only 1 lizard and adding in his level and wriggles armor, I doubt 1 hit did 30 dmg to him.
