I'm pretty sure a lot of the Rephlex parties in the UK had grime acts playing on them in mid '00's. So if anything RDJ was pushing it when it first came out.

There is no such album as "seaside specials". There was however a 1:13 long video called "AFX Seaside Specials" that was a teaser for the Bloc Weekend festival. Also said video didn't even contain any music by Richard.

I really don't care about genre stapling, as much as other people seem to. I find it rather surprising since Richard has jumped across so many genres and labels since the late 80s (even escaping whatever the fuck drill'n'bass was). How can you judge afx like this? This is what he wants to do.. He just wanted to play as a dj for some guys.. So what? And now about the dubstep.. If you think it's a trend i agree.. But there are many artists with quality creations.. Don 't generalise.. We may be the listener but we are not the ultimate judge.. And just to remind you, when afx 's music was shown in mtv in 1997 is was also a trend.. So why don 't you just chill..

@clevhaus - yeah, nice try, but this is just about the complete opposite of what i meant - if RDJ were to fall into the dubstep trend, it would be a step backwards in his continually pioneering career. i don't actually think he'd do this, as evidenced by the last ten years of his output. but clevhaus, you may have just not been paying attention yourself since 1997.

@AimmarCair no no no, brostep is the bad stuff. admittedly this is brostep, although of a better calibre than most. the real good shit is the old school dubstep- minimal, not quite 2 step garage with dub reggae influence
