The SP never fails to amaze me. They will always be the one railroad that will never die. Between the huge lash ups and all the lights...no railroad will ever come close to the Espee!
darn you Carlos!! You make me wish I was born about 15 years earlier so I could have watched this stuff man. I was born in Redding in '93 so this awesomeness was already gone by the time i really got into trains, but my brother was around that time so watching this video really brings him back to the good ol' days. Thank you so much for this great piece of history.
I grew up in Creswell, OR. The SP Siskiyou line runs (ran) right through town. Sure miss seeing those grey and scarlet tunnel motors lumbering through town.
Well Phillip Anchutz sold the SP to UP. Also although SP's route structure was fine but its infrastructure was in bad shape. In the mid 1980's Santa Fe Pacific Industries forced the SP to sell off its non rail business inter prizes off where it could have survived with more money to purchase new cars, locomotives, maintained its track, and etc. Anchutz wasn't going to put more money into the railroad and he is a seller for all of his businesses. He buys stuff to sell it.
Carlos do u got any info on a Sp locomotive numbered 7835 i think its a snub-nose diesel i have pics of it i can email u if u can help me fig this out because we have one that is working as a shunter in the scarp yard in kernersville nc the guys there saved her fro scrap
I never ran the Siskiyou Line - but thanks for a great look back at the SP. I was lucky enough as an engineer/officer to run all across the SP system - and enjoyed every mile. I sure miss her! Thanks for the great video tribute to my brothers and sisters.
i dont why, but when i see this video mi legs starts to shake, very awasome video it reminds me when i used to live next to the SP track in AZ, i live in mexico and i have several models of the SP on mi ferromerx layout. Felicidades Carlos, muy buen video, Saludos from Rocky Point Mexico.
