are the steps the same if your body is manganese and not plastic? im having a hard time finding a plastic bodied homelite xl 12 or any xl for that matter
What are your dimensions for the top plate? Do you have a set template or do you have to measure it out each time? I am making one of these for Dragoncon and I was hoping to get a leg up on the build.
@franknelson that seems a little steep justbecause i saw the whole saw for about 40 bucks on ebay, i just dont think that the amount of work is worth an extra 260 bucks, how much woud u charge without paint because that seems to be the most painstaking part of the build
A quote from Bruce "Ash has mowed down alot of zombies saved alot of lives, but at the end of the day when push comes to shove, its just too damn heavy."
it looks nice but i dont know if i'd want to cut up a real chain saw for one, or condone others in doing so lol plus seems expensive, but it's awesome
What color paint do you use? and also how do you get the splattered look? everytime i use the spray paint it coats funny. is there any certain technique i should try?
i can never find one cheap online, but i am making me one that probably be gas powered but the problem im gonna run into well be the Engine will get me nice prop its pretty neat any tips on how to get a engine small enough to fit in
yo indy mogul u need to make that hidden blade from assassins creed. there are alot of ways that ive found places but it would be nice to know how a pro would make it
Dude this is a great tutorial. Thanks. B/c of this vid I was able to convince dad to look 4 a homelite XL chainsaw. Is there a particular model to get? Cuz I noticed that some are quite different. Thanx again!
one question tho ,im building the same chainsaw, but i wanna build a working one, what or where do i put the part thats on the handle or throdle that controls the chainsaw ?
O! well when I mad it I didn't make a throttle. I just plugged it in and the chain spins. sorry, I wish I could help but I didn't get that detailed...
Very nice. I am very interested in owning a functional one for demonstration purposes. How much do you think it would be for one?

it's funny that the homlite xl cuts through bone and flesh with ease in the movie but in real life it's a piece of crap.

@littled0ct0r I actually use Minwax wood finish (red mahogany 225) for the fake blood, mix well, splatter with a brush, then let dry for a long time.
