  • "This version of windows is not supported."

  • @Drewerd615 If you're getting that as an error message when you go to install the drivers for your wireless adapter it means you have the wrong version of the drivers for your operating system. Find the makers website and look for the correct drivers for your OS in the support section.

  • @Drewerd615 very easy right click and compatibility troubleshooter and select the version of windows that is supported

  • @xxALEXIZBEASTxx i did everything but i cant c any connections :( usb signal is not high ?????

  • @MrIbby12 yea thats why i dont like usb WiFi maybe your to far away from the router this is why i switched to powerline ethernet

  • @xxALEXIZBEASTxx what do u mean u switch it ?

  • @MrIbby12 i sold my netgear usb and purchased a netgear powerline Ethernet

  • @xxALEXIZBEASTxx cool i will 2 :D

  • but at the time of purchase it was written "USB 10/100 Mbps LAN Card"

so i purchased it & i don't know much about my modem but it WIFI modem

i am using it first time and if i do not have correct lan card tell me what should i do

means please suggest me any link for purchasing a USB LAN CARD

AND TELL ME TOOO THAT the thing i have purchased , what does it do???

  • @shivendramohannn What you have there is for connecting your computer using an Ethernet cable to your modem. To connect wirelessly you modem has to have a wireless router built in or you have to buy a wireless router separately. You also need a USB Wireless adapter. It will look a lot like what is in this video. Go to our channel here on YouTube and you will find a link to the series of videos. They explain everything you need to get wireless networking up and running.

  • @hpcbdvd

    Thanx Man

so i should purchase the one which looks like which is in the video

ok ,,, with no ethernet port at it's back??

  • @shivendramohannn That is correct. No Ethernet port on the back. If I had to recommend one it would have to be the ASUS USB-N13. If you Google search for that you'll find several places to buy it.

  • This one is my modem hope you can tell anything about it!!

    imageshack(dot)us*photo*my-images*268/5233m088.jpg

place "." in place of (dot) and "/" in place of "*"

  • @shivendramohannn The antenna gives it away. That is a modem/wireless router combo. Again, go to our channel here on YouTube and watch the series on wireless networking. It will teach you how to get it all working.

  • @hpcbdvd

Thank You Very Very Very Much For Sharing Valueable Information With Me!!

  • i purchased the USB LAN CARD from here, is this the correct one???

    shopping(dot)rediff(dot)com*product*USB-Lancard-10*100-Mbps-Lan-Card*10335147

put "." in place of (dot) and put "/" in placd of "*"

as u know youtube doesn't allows to post links

  • @shivendramohannn That is a USB to Ethernet adapter. It is not a wireless adapter. To connect wirelessly you need a USB or PCI card wireless adapter like the one shown in these videos. Are you sure your modem has a wireless router built in?

  • my usb lan card is this

    alshahbandar(dot)com*files*items*USB-1-1-LAN-Card-Adapter-20091103-020218.jpg

    Put "/ " in place of "*"

  • hey i have

i wifi modem installed in my desktop

but i use it by connecting one end of ethernet cable to modem and one end to CPU (WIRED METHOD)

but i want to use it wirelessly, i have a USB LAN CARD with ethernet port (behind

    the USB LAN CARD)

so tell me how do i connect my desktop to internet wirelessly!!!

    please

    please

  • so then is i got wifi i juat need this usb wireles for my desktop ??

  • @ercspy I'm not sure what you're asking.

  • i dont have wifi in my house, so will this wireless usb work to get free wifi for my ps3? SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER!!

  • @dragon199022 No it won't. A USB wireless network adapter won't work on a PS3 and if you don't have wifi in your house it won't get it free for you. You need a wireless access point with Internet access to get online. The PS3 does have a wireless adapter built in so unless it is broken you don't need another wireless adapter. Again. You do have to have wifi in your home in order to connect to wifi.

  • can i use a wireless network adapter for my ps3?

  • @dragon199022 The PS3 has a wireless adapter built in. If it isn't working you can get a wireless gaming adapter. Google search for that you'll find several. However you can't use a USB wireless adapter.

  • Thanks

  • @stojavendeta91 A USB wireless networking adapter will not help you get online with your phone. It is intended for use on a desktop or laptop computer.

  • Nicely done.

  • If someone has a Wireless router and PCI Card already, can they use any USB and convert it into a wireless USB receiver with the files shown in your video, or do we have to actually have a wireless USB?

  • @raiderscrusade I'm not sure what you're asking. What is it you're trying to do?

  • where is section four

  • @Ipodtouchappsrule You can watch section 4 and 5 on the website listed in this videos description. You can get the videos on DVD as well.

  • @hpcbdvd Can you send me the exact link?

  • @Ipodtouchappsrule youtube doesnt allow links in comments. I'll send you a message to your youtube inbox.

  • hey do you now any way to hook my desktop up to the internet through the xbox that has the built in wifi,

  • @heathdspain Not through the Xbox but you can get Internet access using a wireless adapter for your desktop and connecting to the same network your Xbox is using.

  • This will work with a 2003 Dell desktop to connect to a Verizon router that's wireless????

  • @CODQSKILLA I need to know more about what you're trying to do. What wireless Verizon router do you have?

  • it's a wifi kinda thing

  • Hye,i put my usb wireless internet thing but when i put it, it never works why??

  • @hartmalcolm You also need to have a wireless router to connect to. Do you have one? You should go back and watch these videos from the beginning.

  • @hpcbdvd ah ok thanks allot you helped me allot :) have a very good day :)

  • You sound so board.

  • @1997hellrazor I don't think so. The PS3 has wireless G built in anyway.

  • hpcbdvd does work for laptops?

  • @1234Galatasaray A USB adapter will work with a laptop but you really should use a PC Card or Express card adapter on a laptop. We have a video showing how to add one to a laptop. Do a search on YouTube for "Section 2 - Lesson 4: Installing a PC Card Wireless Network Adapter"

  • i have an ipod but no wifi at all at home but i have a computer with internet(but it uses a modem) but i dont always like sitting in front of the computer...do i get one of those? and somehow combine the two to get wifi cause im a little confused...

  • @16Ferret What you need is a wireless router to share your modem's Internet connection. The router sits between your modem and your computer and your ipod, it has to be a touch model with WIFI support, will connect wirelessly to the router to gets its Internet connection. The videos we have on YouTube will be enough to learn what you want to do. Go to our hpcbdvd channel and you'll find a playlist with the networking videos.

  • I have a realtek 11n usb wireless lan for my laptop. I installed it and had internet for a while. Then, My laptop sad that I hav no available networks (even though I do, and it shows them, but it won’t do anything wen I press “connect” to them. ) wen I change the setting from station to access point, I hav I really good connection, but I hav 7,070 packages sent, 0 received. Wen I change it back to station, it goes back to saying “ the realtek 11n usb wireless lan is disconnected.” PLEASE HELP ME

  • @jbpetlover8 That sounds like a hardware problem, but you might try uninstalling the drivers/software for the adapter and reinstalling. It does sound like the hardware is bad though.

  • Comment removed

  • so i cant run off my neighbors wifi?

  • @MegaBloodrush You can if it is open, but if you do its polite to ask permission.

  • @hpcbdvd its open and i will ask.... but will it come up with all the nearest wifi networks? plz answer gonna waste 60$ if not

  • @MegaBloodrush The wireless adapter will show all the nearby wifi networks you can connect to. How good the reception is depends on the strength of the signals going to and from the router, the distance and what structures are in between.

  • you use the mouth to navigate with the white arrow that appears on your monitor

  • @almadaa11 Are you friends with bigjake52?

  • @hpcbdvd no who's that :P

  • wow its not that hard to plug a usb in and install the driver, fucking retard

  • @bigjake52 That is very offensive and elitist of you. Not everyone knows this stuff and at one point you didn't either. Are you going to teach people? Do you think only you should know this?

  • @hpcbdvd What is there to teach? They do inclue a step by step guide, its not hard, Do you think I got to where I am in knolage today by asking people for help? NO, I never plan on teaching at all

  • @bigjake52 Well I do intend to teach and yes this is one of the simplest things to do, but I can just say its simple and not cover it. This video is part of a course that is intended to teach people the entire process of setting up a home network. If I start skipping things I think are simple I would leave out too much and people wouldn't be able to follow along.

  • @hpcbdvd so? I think people can read a book,

  • @bigjake52 Why are you on YouTube? Go read a book. Books don't work for everyone. Some people learn better with visual.

  • @hpcbdvd I'm on youtube to bitch to you, anyways youtube is not all tutorials, Yes I have one how to use virtual pc, but I ex-plane more about it then you could ever. Any ways people are not that stupid

  • @bigjake52 People not knowing what a wireless adapter is and how to install it does not make them stupid. I'll have to check your virtual pc video out.

  • @hpcbdvd 2010 and some one doe not know what a wireless card is they must be fucking stupid

  • @hpcbdvd I just feel you should know, I really appreciate what you do. you have great videos that are informative and easy to understand. I love computers, but don't always know everything. thank you for making such quality videos, and you handle trolls very well :) by the way- is a USB adapter in any way inferior to a PCI adapter? I'd rather go USB for the simplicity.

  • @BeatlesFan32 Thanks for that. PCI wireless adapters can have better reception but USB works just fine.

  • @hpcbdvd awesome, thanks, USB should be fine for me, I'll only be about 10 feet from the router, with a pretty thin wall in between

  • @hpcbdvd awesome, thanks, USB should be fine for me, I'll only be about 10 feet from the router, with a pretty thin wall in between

  • I have a USB wireless adapter with the disk. Is that all I need? Or do I need to install a the card like in the vid?

  • @ezerers2 A USB wireless adapter with a disc with the drivers is all you need. Other than a wireless router to connect to wirelessly.

  • with a wireless adapter do you still need a computer or can i insert in in my laptop?

  • @DCV19 On a laptop you can use a express card or pc card adapter like in Section 2: Lesson 4 of these videos.

  • can u connect an itouch?

  • @FELIPEMONTION12 What are you wanting to do?

  • Thanks

  • is a usb adapter or a network card cheaper and which is more efficiant?

  • @MrCookieHunter card adapter usually get better reception but are more difficult to install. The prices are about the same for USB and card network adapters.

  • @hpcbdvd kk thank you :) i bought a card today and it wasnt that hard to install.

  • I thought you don't need a router inorder to connect to a free wifi like starbucks because there's the Wireless usb adapter?

  • @swed702 The free wifi, starbucks in this case, has a wireless router and that is what you are connecting to. These videos are about setting up a wireless network in your home and connecting to it.

  • can i use my wireless dongle and link it through my 360 wireless adapter? will the 360 Wireless adpater pick it up?

  • @JammyDodgerrrrrr No. The 360 requires a wireless adapter made for it. They are around $70.

  • this really helped me plenty, thank you!

  • Is there a difference between internal adapters and Usb adapters when it comes to realisable, speed and efficacy.

I'm looking for an adapter for my Desktop, I am happy to install an internal card or use a Usb, Though it will come down to speed and readability in terms of Signal strength.

    What one would you suggest?

  • @leewatcher Usually the internal adapters have better signal reception. This can contribute to better speed. Since they are inside the computer you don't have to worry as much about them physically breaking.

  • if not in that form is there any other way, using the same components, to establish a connection?

  • i have a question for any body who can answer. i have a 16 port switch (net gear). my parents wont let me have internet in my room :/ if i buy a wirless usb adapter for the specifiic kind of router, get a usb to ethernet adapter and connect the port to those two, could i distrbute that wirless signal (now in the form of wiered) to my computer, xbox etc?

  • I don't think there is a way to do that. Any one else know of a way? You are sure to get caught though.

  • @noobletastic4

NO it would not because both device (usb wireless and usb to ethernet) are "slave" device.

you can't connect two slave device together.

but if you parents don't want you watch porn you can buy some aircrack (hacking tool - ask wikipedia) compatible WiFi adapter and hack to your neighbour network.

  • @odv000 ha not that i dont get porn they just dont want me to.... could i use the usp wirless adap, on my computer and run ethernet jack to switch?

  • @noobletastic4

    in theory yes, but...

if it runs windows you should enable routing between interfaces (usb-wifi & ethernet) - ask google how to do it.

in linux as i hear it should work by default.

it also depend of access point settings (static-ip/dhcp,dns,nat...)

  • @noobletastic4 why don't you just use a bluetooth

  • Thanks for your reply. what do you personally prefer?

  • I buy Wireless N USB adapters. They are easy to move from computer to computer as needed and can be much faster than Wireless G adapters.

  • can you use all the adapters for the same thing? which one is the best to use? Thanks

  • USB vs. PCI card, USB is easier to install, PCI usually gives better reception. There are Wireless G and Wireless N adapters. Wireless G is what more WIFI around the world uses. Wireless N is a faster version with longer range. You need a wireless n router or switch for a wireless n adapter to get the extra speed and range.

  • do you need a wireless adapter to connect to a Playstation 3 and computer at the same time?

  • That depends. The PS3 has a wireless adapter built in. It's 802.11g. If you computer is currently connected directly to a modem you would need to buy a wireless router that goes between your computer and the modem and sends out a wireless signal your PS3 can pick up. You can go back and watch section 1 that explains wireless networking and the rest of the videos up to Section 3 are on YouTube for free. You can find the entire series by following the link in this videos description.

  • would it be the same set up for windows 7 cuz i know that windows 7 wasn't out when you made the video, thx if a response

  • The process in Windows 7 is almost identical and Windows Vista drivers also work in Windows 7.

  • kk thx

  • wait so you need a wireless connection to use an usb wireless connection lol?

I want to get wifi for my ipod but dunno what to do?

  • Can you help me? I used my regular USB stick to transfer network info for my grandmother, and now her computer treats it like a network device instead of a regular USB! It works fine, but how can I tell it to recognise it like a reg USB as before? T_T

  • Formating the USB stick should remove any software Windows put on it. What version of Windows was used to make it appear as a network device?

  • I already fixed the problem, but thanks anyway. But... formatting it would clear all my files, too, right?! @_@

  • whats with you voice?

  • i need help with the my wireless N setup. The signal on the wireless N adapter is Excellent but i only get 60Mbps and am only 25 feet away from the router, also my wireless G seems to be faster than my wireless N????

  • What wireless N hardware do you have? Router and adapters. How are you measuring the speed?

  • Hey, I made it!!! I'm wireless free! Well, not through my network, but an unsecured one with excellent strength. Still trying to connect through mine though.

  • You may be missing some of the basics. Try and watch the videos from the beginning. You can watch all of the videos on the website mentioned at the top of this video.

  • Actually, I was installed because my network is listed among other networks and I have set mine and others on automatic so when I lose other networks hopefully I'm connected to mine.

  • it dose not matter about brand it matters of if ur comp has the right requirment e.g 802.11a/b/g etc

  • Im looking at the Zonet ZEW1642 PCI Wireless Network Adapter. I believe it has 18dBi and 300Mbps. would this card be any good for gaming?

  • That card would be fine for gaming. The router has more to do with getting low latency in your games. Do a Google search for 'best router for gaming' and you'll find several opinions of what is the best gaming router and reviews of several router models.

  • does a wireless adaptor give you wireless internet or can it pick up wireless signals?

  • The wireless adapter still needs to pick up a signal from the wireless router which gets it's Internet access from the modem. You need an Internet connection, a modem, a router and the wireless adapter.

  • is it better to have a modem or is this better, i have a modem and router, can i till get wireless internet?

  • You need a modem and a wireless router to do wireless Internet. Some modems have a wireless router included in the same case. Contact your ISP to confirm what you have or find the model number of the modem/router on the outside of it's case and Google search it to find more information. I recommend you watch all of the lessons from the beginning. The first half is available on YouTube. You can find all of the videos for free at the web address listed in the description of this video.

  • I think there might be compatibility issues between the carrier and the hardware you need to check out. 3G routers aren't something I've studied.

  • So a 3G router connects to my USB Network Adapter and from there i can connect multiple computers to the 3G wireless service? Does it boost the signal of the 3G wireless service? because some days the signal will be okay and the next it will become poor. Thank You for the comments.

  • The 3G router acts just like a regular router connected to a cable or DSL modem. It takes the one Internet connection and allows it to be share with several devices. It picks of the signal and broadcasts its own signal locally to all your devices. It wouldn't improve the signal strength of the 3G network. If your signal is weak on occasion and you have trouble connecting to the 3G network you would have the same problem if you used a 3G router.

  • It sounds like you have a USB adapter that is connecting to a wireless 3G service from a cell phone company like Sprint or AT&T. If you want to share that mobile connection with other computers you'll need a 3G router. This is separate from what we talk about in the videos. Do a Google search for '3G router' and you'll find one that will work with your cell company.

  • So I need a "3G router" to connect to the internet? My USB adapter is from D-Link and if I buy a 3G router from Netgear will there be any connecting problems? Thank you for the replie!

  • What is a router and does it help me connect to the internet? I have a network adapter that connects me to the internet but i was wondering if a router does the same? please reply because i need help!

  • The router goes between your modem and computer and lets you share the internet connection with more than one computer. What set up do you have? DSL or Cable, more than one computer, laptops?

  • I have a Network Adapter USB 2.0 and that is what i use to connect to the internet. I was wondering if a router could connect me to the internet? i do not use a modem or anything just a Network Adapter. Please help me Thank you for the reply!

  • You really want USB 2.0. If it's an older computer with USB 1.0 or 1.1 ports it will work but the speed when transferring files between computers will be noticeably slower.

  • Ok, I just order this same exact USB 1.0 that will be use with my Wireless-N Lenskey router and Dell Studio XPS 16 (newer version). Will the speed of the transferring files be fast?

You know, this is asinine of what I'm about to tell you. Though I have Dell Inspiron 1000 with wireless pc card and wireless-G Lenskey router I never knew that I will need the USB adapter to walk my laptop around the house. LOL

  • You don't need a USB adapter in your case. The PC Card you have for your laptop is all you need to connect to the router and walk around. PC card wireless adapters are covered in the next video in the series.

  • Well, I'm having problem installing Router Wireless-G WRT54G. It asked for my pass word and it did nothing. I still can't connect to a router.

  • Well, I'm having problem installing Router Wireless-G WRT54G. It asked for my pass word and it did nothing. I still can't connect to a router. I'm still using my Dell Inspiron 1000..a old laptop I had five years ago.

Besides a PC wireless card, I also have SIS 900 Base PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.

  • Are you trying to log into the router from the computer connected to the router? I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Have you already logged into the router and set up the wireless settings?

  • Yes, I was trying to log into the router from the computer that I lost access to. So, I install..they asked me for my password..gave it and it did nothing. So, I exit from installing. Actually, I did not finish installing the software.

When that didn't work I tried to wirelessly connect to a wireless router. The thing is I set up a security system by providing a password, which I did five years ago. No, I have no wireless router connection.

  • What you need to do is reset the router. There is a small pin hole that you need to press with the tip of a pin for about 10 second. This will reset the router back to its factory defaults. The login for the router should then be admin for the username and admin for the password. If that doesn't work there is a sticker on the router than shows it's default login. Once you're back into the router you can re set up the wireless configuration and get your wireless device back on the network.

  • Thanks. I will try this on my new laptop when it arrives. Also, before I try to reinstall I disabled the wireless connection so it shouldn't make any difference...right?

Matter of fact, let me call the linkeys company.

  • and if u hv usb 1.0 or 1.1 does it make a difference with the speed? tnx....

  • Which is better....a Wirless USB adapter or a PCI Card? Tnx grt vid!

  • A PCI card adapter will usually have better signal reception than a USB adapter.

  • Yes a USB wireless adapter will work in a laptop.

  • Absolutely.

  • Simple question to anyone out there...I just got the ipod touch 2g. I have no router or wireless network adapter, but i do get internet through my cable. what is the simplest was to get wifi on my ipod? What do i need to buy?

  • You need a simple wireless g router.

  • i have a question. i only have one pc and i'm tired of all the cables! i'd like to install a wireless network. can i, even though i only have one pc? i watched the other vids on the site and it shows one pc being connected directly to the router by an ethernet cable and the others wirelessly. so; is it worth creating a wireless network with one connected pc?

  • k... this might not be related to this but i formated my computer and i wana know how i can setup wireless because the computer i formated use to have wireless. (Its not the main computer) I would like to know how i can setup wireless and by setup i mean like install it on my computer. Do i need a disc? If i do whats the name of the disc. For some reason i only have 1 box. I think its a modem and router put together. Bell sent it to me. I use to have internet on all my computers till i formated.

  • If you lost the connection to the wireless Internet on this one computer after formatting and reinstalling Windows then you probably just need a driver disc for the wireless adapter in your computer and the wireless name of the router built into your modem. You can usually find the password to connect to the router on a sticker on the bottom or side of the modem/router.

  • i got the netgear adapter its installed but cant find any internet

  • You need to also have a wireless router. Are you sure you have one connected to or included with (inside) your modem?

  • check the description of this video for the web address to all of the videos

  • so let me get this straight. i need a wireless router and adapter just to get my laptop on the internet??or can the wireless adapter get my laptop on the internet by itself

  • You need a wireless router.

  • where is section 4

  • I recently got a laptop ( a very old laptop, like Windows 2000) from my uncle. He also gave me an Encore Electronics ENUWI-G2 802.11G Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, so that I'm able to connect to the internet wirelessly. However, the adapter doesn't seem to connect to my router. It detects the modem (which is compatible with 802.11G), and it even has the correct WEP key, but it doesn't connect. It just keeps scanning all the time. If you could help me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Try uninstalling the software that comes with the adapter and just install the driver. Encore customers support is very helpful and will walk you through the process.

    (626) 606-3108

  • plz can u tell me how to connect with d-link? i cant find my router =( just an other router with password to connect :( so do you know what the problem is? i have windows xp =D

  • I'm not sure what you're asking.

  • sorry for my English xD i mean :

you can tell how I can connect with D-Link? I can not find

my router connection = (just another router with the password to

connect: (so you know what the problem is? My computer is Windows XP = D

  • It should still be close enough. Anything within 100 feet should be a problem.

  • So all I do is buy it & Put the Disc in, Plug it in then get it hooked up with my Wireless Router? cuz My Wireless router is Upstairs & my new Computer is Downstairs so...will it still work?

  • The speeds are sometimes better on a PCI adapter, because they sometimes have better signal reception. It isn't an absolute. If a USB adapter is cheaper for you and you're sure you have a USB 2.0 port on your computer, buy the USB wireless adapter.

  • what's faster

    a USB wireless adaptor

    or

    PCI Card Wireless Network Adapter

  • i need a usb wireless adaptor so badddddddd
