  • for what purpose would I want that? I use elementaryOS . org

  • @xXEduBuntuXx Cause elementaryOS has not the improvement that elive has, give it a try, run Elementary os in live cd mode then run Elive in live mode, you will see the diference!

  • Nice music.

  • PORK IS JUST A COMPLETE OPERATING SYSTEM

FAST EFFICIENT recuersos less power than a bit outdated COMPUTER SIMPLY PERFECT FOR MY LINUX

  • truth makes me an excellent operating system very interesting .. a couple of years ago I used a lot Kice try ubuntu and I set to ubuntu .. but never found what elive wonderful as it was long ago .. try to install elive and ... Surprise needed a module installation never send me mail asking many respondents saw many positive comments yesterday that if they had been sent .. and decided to try again

    WHY??

  • I have installed this version of Elive on an old desktop that I have just to see what it's like and I actually think Elive is a better interface than ubuntu. I haven't got an internet connection for it yet but is elive still being improved and updated?

  • @peterjol Yes, of course :)

  • Which program do you use for rip desktop into video file ?

  • what is this music. I like it

  • @dbase8 It is "Rob Costlow", you can found his songs in the Jamendo website :)

  • recién me vengo adentrando al mundo de Linux, y me encuentro con esta genialidad y tengo muchas ganas de usar. Se puede usar desde una memoria usb?

  • @GenoSkill si, en la pagina de elive tienes una explicación de como usarlo por usb

  • elive 2.0 just launch 2 days ago,

how do I upgrade the elive zeitgeist version to elive 2.0?

  • @prophecy2012 just use the installer, the process is automated

  • Im a noob. How is this if I want to play games, and what other restrictions are there compared to winows? Thanks.

  • try it and see, google has more specific answers, yes, you can play games

  • @blomvik16

linux is more stable than windows, and its also more powerful.

for years, we've been able to run any o.s. in a virtual space. so imagine 1 terminal window dedicated for your win9x or win7 machine which could run native windows games.

lots of other ways too. but for your question, linux is not the best gaming o.s.

uncertain of what restrictions you write about. afaik, linux is unrestricted. (as long as your root or "su")

  • @blomvik16 linux* is not specially made for play games, but you can found more info about this in blogs and articles in google, im not an expert of games

  • @Thanatermesis Correction: There's SDL, Simple Direct Layer library that you can use to build a game engine with for Linux. Several games were actually built specifically for the Linux platform using this library by Loki Software.

  • I start to see people do thing here and there, that is what make my day a happy day :D

  • only with sand grains it is possible to make a mountain :)

  • Finally you found the real "enlightenment" too,Thana!

  • Hello Thanatermesis ! Great job ! I'm french and i will install it on my computer fo sure. In the title you wrote "Zeitgest" instead of "Zeitgeist"....maybe it could be a problem for a specific search. I spread it on Twitter and Digg and Facebook, this work is great. Many thanks to you. This will be released for sure :)

  • Woops! thank you for your correction, title fixed :), yes, better for a search if is correct.

Thank you for spreading it!, that's something that im not very good for :)

  • Thanatermesis is there a way to get the Zeitgeist backround for other distro's?

  • only in elive you can have it with moving effects (see the text scrolling), that's because it is not a simple image but something coded, if you want just the image background you can found it on deviantart, search about my user gallery

  • This is simply fantastic, i was getting ready to ditch xp for win 7, but Zeitgeist comes to the rescue. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU for this programing gem, i'll definately be installing it & passing it on to all my friends. Not only looks like a great OS but also, what a great way to further the awareness of people to the ZM & VP goals. Some people may think that mankind is too set in its ways to change, you my friends prove that to be a complete fallacy. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  • Thank you :)

  • Very nice, good work.

  • thank you, you are welcome :)

  • What piano track is this. It's so soothing and beautiful. Just like the venus project!

  • It is a free song :), the author is Rob Costlow, almost all his songs are that beautiful, you can found it on jamendo

  • im so gonna look more into this. i just got ubuntu this week, but i got some sound issues, think this distribution would fix that?

  • I don't know which audio driver you have, of course :)

But you are welcome to try it out and see if works, remember that it can work as live mode so is not needed to install it in order to know if the audio works correctly or not for you

  • @crimson6

ive tried (knewb)untu a few times.

never like it much, its too fat, or heavy, or just a big honkin /root footprint.

i like slackware, or debian styles, that allow a tiny install, customised to my needs, ubuntu seems to be more like windows every release/

ive used enlightenment since redhat 6.1, and still use e16 today. (right now in fact) its simple, powerful, and the most minimalist, beautiful desktop that still impresses anyone who looks upon it.

    10 years and no crashes.

  • Awesome!

  • looks very nice, I will definitely look into this, Is this best run from a usb in live mode? raher than install?

  • No, is a lot better to install, a lot more stable but also more featured, it is more a distribution to use everyday than use it just in live mode :), but in any case, live is like a preview, if like it, you install it :)

  • I am very impressed, I now have it running (typing this )on an old thinkpad x23 that is missing a hard drive, it all works, wireless, built in microphone, everything, wow...this is a really polished OS..I may just install it to a sd card, and maybe my main laptop. I am finding the zeitgeist ideas very exiting too, many thanks for introducing me to this area and a great linux distro

  • Wikipedia wasn't very helpful in the definition of the Zeitgeist movement. Could you tell us more/include a link in the description? Thank you.

  • Unfortunately Zeitgeist is not something easy to describe in a few words, you should understand it entirely and then decide yourself, I think that instead to lost time by reading some big description you should see better the zeitgeist videos, note that there's 2 videos, the "addendum" is the one that i recommend you since it includes hte "solutions", maybe the first part is boring, but you will like when it starts talking about the venus project :)

  • To be honest, the movement hasn't started yet. We're currently building the necessary infrastructure and trying to build our numbers right now. But once you find a chapter that has enough people. I imagine getting big "bailout banks" out of your region through boycott will be an objective. Moving towards any form of independence, energy independence, larger community garden projects, etc. With the ultimate goal of creating new/ changing towns and society to be self sustaining/ not using money.

  • Was that a pdf you opened near the 5min mark?

  • Yes
