30 years ago we stripped aluminum and copper off the cars, usually pulled the motors and sold them separate Then used a dozer to crush the cars and loaded 6 at a time on a 2 ton truck. Oh and we usually burnt the cars first to remove anything plastic or cloth. I'm sure this would have set the tree huggers off.
@30wvdirtracer - lol burning them would take weight off ;) We considered using a torch and cutting the engines and trans out, but this was too much fun to pass up
@BrandonR572 - My dad has junked cars since the 70's. I believe you had to either remove the interior or burn it back then otherwise he never would have bothered burning it. He doesn't touch the interiors anymore.

I'm sorry I have to say this... such a waste to junk a Mercury Mistique... I still have my 1995 and it runs great (because I only have 65,000 miles on it) but it did have problems in '05... this broke my heart to see what would happen if I totaled this car... :(
@KenjiroKitsumashi - The merc had alot of problems. It had computer problems, trans problems and alot of other small things. The car wasnt worth driving anymore. More problems than it was worth.
