  • Yes thank you bramblefox!

  • Salutations to Bramblefox for these fine videos !

  • Well thank you very much for posting. very difficult to find the series on the internet and i dont usually like wating shows on youtube (beacuase of the 'parts') however, these episodes are very well done and good quality, consider this a THUMS UP :D

  • He's not exactly "old" @ 37 or 38 years of age & I bet he still looks very youthful because i sensed he was someone who took good care of himself & he was nearly 30 when they made the last episode or movie. He could come back & simply continue his role as Horatio Hornblower & let the excellence continue. It was a great idea and he was the perfect choice for a role that seemed to be made for only him. He was great. I watched some of them the 1st time around in the late 90's & really liked it.

  • We can appreciate the forward actors but what of the people who organized all of this. What amazing and intelligent people. Kudos to them and thanks. . .

  • Flat out excellent! A&E should show it again.

  • @714AD Oh shoot! I thought it was the BBC. Maybe you know Ioan is trying to get them to continue the series with him as an older officer? How many of us wouldn't back that? How could these producers loose? I don't have a tv but I would guess it was big when it came out. I don't understand why they didn't continue it but there's probably Hollywood politics involved. And $. Doesn't it always come down to $? I hope they do something soon as Ioan and the other actors are getting older. Do U agree?

  • That ending ended off a bad note. Hornblower messed up his exam and they two captains on the row boat are going to kill each other over petty shit.

  • @MajBlood

well, he didn't fail it outright; so there was still a chance he may get promoted (you'll find out in episode 3, it's on YT under the account of funnyflyingdutchgirl). he had a minute left before failing, and was saved by the guns.

the latter part? they're two dumb shits- it's not Hornblower's fault. either way, one idiot will have his bad genes removed from the gene-pool.

one should always look on the bright side :P

  • Thanks so much for posting these. I have wanted to see this series for a long time and finally my dream has been realised. Great show. I love the cast. Thanks again!

  • @artj22850 You always look it up on Ebay. The series may be Cheaper there, than on Amazon.

  • how the background music is named please?

  • At the end he's like, "I'll be along shortly. I'm just thinking about seahorses."

  • Again, thank you so much for these; I have tried for a long time to see the series, but they are not available here in South Africa.

  • You're quite welcome. Have you tried ordering them via Amazon? Or is it too expensive to have them imported? (I'm not sure...)

  • Ohh great credits.

Well thanks for posting, great series.

  • No problem! Thank you for watching! :D

  • Most officers wernt cruel or sadistic, although there was a fair share like that. Switch cruelty for discipline, and thats closer to the mark. And all though the Navy did press men, the army didnt. There was no conscription in Britain until WW1. Although a good deal of men woke up hungover to find they'd "taken" the Kings shilling.

  • Also, life was a lot cheaper in those days, and the men pretty tough. If you didnt expect to live much past 30 or 40, a life in the army or navy wasnt such a bad deal when compared to the mines or mills.

And although Spain, Holland and France were big deals on the continent, the sea was effectively British territory for a very long time, and thats a lot bigger than continental europe, so its not too surprising that we gained the Empire.

  • @MartinRVUK "Taken by the King's Shilling?" They really were only given a shilling (one 21st of a pound, right?) for joining? In Sharpes I thought it was 31 shillings to joing. Ignorant here. :) Thanks Martin. Like today, true psyco people are rare. Simpson was a sadist and like you said. Like a serial killer. Most are very intelligent. There are 30 to 32 working in the US at any given time. But out of 320,000,000 people in the US, extreme broken characters isn't that surprising. Mad dogs.

  • I believe I've seen that sketch...it's in the beginning of 'Life of Brian', isn't it? Or was it 'The Meaning Of Life'? But I remember seeing that sketch. Monty Python ROCKS. :D

  • Its Meaning of Life.

    Tigers? In Africa?!

  • XD Priceless!

  • I agree...it's insane and not really recommended for countries nowadays. ^^;
