nice video. seeing eye dogs lead such sad lives :( J/k... everyone knows dogs thrive when they are put to work in one way or another. people hating on the creator of this video must not have a grasp on the concept of art. this would be a great song to use in an advertisement for dogs in adoption shelters. :(
I can't believe anyone would think a guide dog's life was negative. If you've ever met anybody who uses a guide dog they must have been a horrible handler. My poor unfortunate dog jumped into his harness wagging and jumping every morning for the past 10 years. I'm glad you don't have audio description on this video. I was disappointed to read the commentary. I will show you my next dog when I get one and you can see if he is sad.
i totally agree with you. this video is so stupid...i've never seen a guide dog treated so bad. i hope no one will believe in this insignificant video
and I can't wait for him to be matched with someone. "Read some books on the nautre of dogs"??????? what? yeah. Dogs LOVE to work, please their owners, and are happiest when they have a job to do. I really feel bad for your dog mimi. The poor thing.
Yes! Post a video of Mindy! Make mimi eat her words! Wow..I still can't belive mimi is still arguing with everyone against her. What a loser. btw mimi- Guide Dogs love their job, and LOVE to work. They are a gift to all of their handler's lives, and they treat them that way- they give them ton of love and attention, nothing like this video. Dave meant so much to me before he went In for training, and I am not even visually impaired. That means he will mean SO MUCH more to his future partner.....
I am going to post a video response VERY soon that will make mimi eat her words!
As for dressing-up your dog in clothes...ya, that is just what they do in the wild...my dog hates to even wear the rain coat I use so she doesn't piss off people by shaking when we go in a store, she puts up with it as that is her nature and nurture, but I would never do it for MY idea of what a good time is.
games and theory ur an idiot if u think the dogs actually feel this way heres what i have to say u should probably educate urself on the subject before automatically thinking that the dog is miserable because hes doing something productive.....GO FUCK YOURSELF
eyzwideshut is correct mimi unfortunately u cannot understand the complex reelationship a guide dog has with his/her owner in fact my mother happens to be blind and she cant go 2 feet without or dog jumping up and folloing her he seems to not mind being with her all the time so i think it just might be that your dog has a natural tendency to run as far as possible away from u...oh well anyway eyz is also correct on another point with the computer software jaws which i have to say is amazing
We know this KKoda23 because we are participants in this world, mimi's only exposure to it is from this video, which was also made from someone who knows nothing factual about guide dogs, but he is allowed to create something that expresses his point of view.
It is just too bad that some narrow minded viewers choose to believe that everything they see on TV or the internet true.
These dogs are "working breeds", and they are happiest when they have a job, along with allot of love and play.
hey there! seems like you know absolutely NOTHING! Actually, only 10% of the "legally blind" population see total darkeness. Meaning, objects can most of the time be seen but are fuzzy, and light is also picked up.
mimi0674 A dog has more energy than a human A dog has more energy than a human
Riding a bike with a dog is very stimulating for it. The dog chooses the pace, and human walking and dog walking is different. Whats more irresponsible, being blind and letting a dog guide you, or not being blind and watching out for your dog in this world. So your not completely blind, 'Awesome' but some are.
oh god-wow. I can't believe that user mimi0674 said that to you. Don't take it personally, some people in the world are just very ignorant and cold hearted. Guide dogs are amazing and love their work!
This video actually makes me very upset. Especailly after just turining in my first Guide Dog puppy to go IFT. However, I believe this footage is very misleading, because you should see what they do for the dogs over there! They love them to pieces! Also, almost everyone who applies for a guide dog loves dogs, and would never mistreat them. There is a very carefull screening process. Dogs are not given to anyone who doen't like them, or a person who seems suspicious and might mistreat them.
This is an OUTRAGEOUS MISREPRESENTATION of a seeing eye dog's life and feelings! They are NOT prisoners, and they enjoy a close relationship with their owners that most dogs, even those most loved, do NOT! The ones I know of get to run and play, too.
This is NOT the life of a guide dog, did you read some of the other comments? FYI - Only 10% of legally blind people cannot see anything, the rest have verying degrees of sight.
I have tunnel vision, 20/400 VA in one eye, double vision, and other goodies, but I can see enough to walk my dog, off harness, around my neighbourhood, to the nearby off-leash park and woods.
My dog is in the harness about 5 hours a week average, and she loves to see things that no other dog gets to see.
That said, it also tore at my heart, because I do have to stop my dog from interacting with other dogs when she is working. She does however play with other dogs, gets long walks off-leash in the woods, and just be a regular dog. She goes for hikes, swims, and spends the whole day in the garden with me when she is not working part-time.
She eats raw food that is better than what I eat, and sleeps on a down duvet next to me every night.
Walking in the ity makes me feel like a creep too!
Although the content of your video is not very accurate, I enjoyed it for what it was - one person's artistic rendering. It disturbed me at first, since I have owned a Guide Dog for a year now, but I also believe you are not saying this is how a Guide Dog's life really is, just what your conception of living in a big city from the dog's point of view. You also stayed true to the song's lyrics, and I loved the way you used the owner's check to mirror the jerking electric guitar.
Also one of the good thing that, I think the dog enjoys, is where ever, I mean where ever the owner goes she gets to go. The only reason that a seeing eye dog is not alloud to eat people food, is that they can go into resturants with out acting like a "ass" and trying to steal or beg for food from other costomers. This video shows, a cold hearted owner.
They get to do all the same as regular dogs, they are not made to be slaves or priseners. They only time they are made to lead the blind is when there working, when there not they take off there harnis are able to act like who they want. CICI is her name, she does to parks, runs and plays, she goes to public swimming holes and swimms all the time.
I have a retired guide dog.... I also know the owner who was blind who had her. Beleave me, they have a pampered life. They get the best vet care, they get the best dog food, they are with there owner all the time, who they love all the time. They are the center of attention.
first your footage is hijacked and second you have no idea what a guide dogs life is all about, this video is very misleading. Guide dogs have off time, get to play, and are loved very much by their partners. Where is your footage of that?

I posted your comment here since you sent it to my personal mail by mistake ;)
Your ignorance knows no bounds, but your compassion is definately lacking.
May you never have to see what it is like to not see well enough to ride a bike.
This is all I have to say on the subject.
p.s. Get a life!

You are only showing your ignorance by assuming I can't see anything and am not even able to walk my own dog off leash.
When I did the same to you, you also got defensive.
I expressed an opinion about the video, and shared some personal information relevent to the subject, which is the treatment of guide dogs.
Just because I am blind, does not mean I should be typecasted and then made to answer questions about how I use a computer.
Oh, and riding a bike with a dog is very irresponsible.

I am taking my dog for long walks - which is probably more than you are doing for your dog since you see to like to watch alot of really bad TV.
As for your other questions, most blind people can see text on a PC if the size is increased and a larger monitor is utilized.
There are programs that magnify text, read each letter as you type it, or the whole paragraph eg.ZOOM TEXT.
JAWS is another such program used by the very blind, they can do almost anything on a PC.
