You must be a huge Abba fan who doesn't watch the RRHOF regularly. They all tend to hopped up on something and then go out there and present. Know why? Because their singers, not public speakers. And they get nervous just like anybody else.

You know this whole "they're not a rock and roll act" is a tired and old argument that happens EVERYTIME an act not R and R gets in there. There are jazz singers, country singers in there. It's always been that way. Get over it. ABBA's not the only pop act in the RRHoF. The BeeGees are there, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc.

Bloody awful introduction if you ask me. One of the commenters below likened the Gibbs to "buffoons", and I couldn't agree more.

This wasn't supposed to be a bloody comedy routine for crying out loud!

ABBA deserves the most for this year 2010. But as I watched big brother Barry Gibb and younger brother Robin Gibb speaking to the crowd about ABBA, I had an awful feeling about Robin Gibb's twin brother, Maurice Gibb not present in the event (he died in 2003, causing the Bee Gees to retire till 2009). However, the surviving Gibb brothers of the Bee Gees did feel honoured to induct ABBA into the Rock n'Roll Hall of Fame.

I am a big fan of both Abba and the Bee Gees...Barry and Robin have been through hell in the last few years and it shows, Robin is so thin it looks painful. It is so good that Barry and Robin are able to do this together. They are shy, Maurice was the extrovert. They must also have the memory of when Andy did that show in Australia with Abba. It was his fault that microphone was too low.

Come to think of it, those guys are used to goofing off like this... problem is, Maurice was the funny guy and he's gone. Barry and Robin just can't get away with what Maurice could; it's just too artificial and stiff. Maurice was impossible not to laugh at. His timing was perfect and he didn't have to try to be hilarious.

@smdiva28: My remark about the Bee Gees concerns the way they inducted ABBA and has nothing to do with their ability to sell records. While I personally have never cared for their musical style, I certainly won't deny they have had a great number of hits over the years. But I'm entitled to my opinion about the lousy job they did at the RRHoF induction of ABBA, just as you are entitle to your opinion.

I hate to break this to you, but the Bee Gees have had a career that has spanned over 5 decades. Can you think of any other band that has been around that long? I didn't think so.
