dam i remember playing this game, when i was in high school and sitting on the staircase of my parents place playing this on the game gear. i love old memory's
@crocro93 They did an excellent job of matching the musical theme to the level design and visuals didn't they... this level is all about SPEEEEEED (more so than any other in Sonic 1) and the music sounds like it wants you to keep pushing forward ever faster... and it's forming a crescendo through scrap brain and sky base to the final showdown.
I used to get lost in this stage when I was a child as it was difficult for me but now I think it was because I wanted to listen to its music. Really great both music and game
@merkur32123 Which was a surprisingly potent little thing for an 8-bit underdog... quite a lot of 16 bit titles got ported to it and suffered little other than the lack of buttons on the pad!
This one was cool. I actually bought recently the console off ebay for my children one day to play it :) mine was broken down, so no need to keep it around. I got a lot of games for that thing, so there will be plenty of nostalgia one day :) but i kinda dislike the "newer" ones. Not saying they were bad, its just that i grew up with this one
Lyrics: Destruction's the name Your death's my game Destruction is so foreign You are so dead The void will just fill you up (Not really..) The void will just suck you up (Not really..) The void will just hunt you down And the Moon will block the Sun! Destruction's the name Your death's my game Destruction is so foreign You are so dead The planet is burning down (Not really..) CO2 will fill you up (Not really..) Global warming's going up Sunset of humanity!
Sonic 1 on gamegear was the first game I beat, I still remember the feelings this song gave me " This is it! we are going to finally beat the fat guy!" xD
Didn't play this one until about three years ago. I actually think this theme (and the level itself) is much better than the Genesis version. It fits the struggle a lot better. Memories of lightning are coming back.... :)
@kunio18 The GameGear was the harder of the two, believe me. i breezed through the Master System version like it was nothing. the GameGear version.... well it took me just a tad bit longer.... bout a few weeks of trying nonstop! xD
@RushtheMetalHog You won't find a Nes version to this song because it was created by Sega and both Sega and Nintendo hated each other back then.

I can hear a little bit of gerudo valley in there. In the chord progression, this was first though. Great tune

This version of the scrap brain theme certainly sounds different than the sega genesis version. Either way, both of them are great!

Personally, I like this version better than the one in the Sega Genesis version.
That's not to say that the original is bad or anything....
