For most americans celebirty gossip and american idol is more important than their children's education. Get out there and make a positive change for our education!
Part of the reason for NCLB is because throughout recent history, if some school is doing poorly, just give them more money and it'll fix everything. Now we have the opposite. If your school doesn't perform, they yank federal funding. Simple.
NCLB scared me away from teaching in a public school. During my student teaching in 2007, I hated what I saw and what schools had become due to "teaching to the test" and standardized approaches to education.
My wife is a teacher. We both agree this was a bad idea, and won't fix the problem. Parents need to be more active in educating their child at home first, and not reliant on the school teachers so much. The kids teacher can't come to every students house every night to read with them.
No Child Left Behind= Children left Behind. When i was in school we had to take test after test; We lost almost a whole month in instruction a year because of testing. Stress from the adminstrators trickles down to the teachers, and from there it goes like wildfire to the students. EVERYBODY IS IN MAYHEM!!! SCRAP IT!!
Great video! I hope this will open th eyes of people that are unclear on the NCLB. This is a true representation of the teachers and students, they are what matters in the education process.
Can anyone answer this...What does the federal, state or local governments do with the tests? What do these governments do to help students and teachers? Why are government officials set to the same standards? Why cant we give them tests?
NCLB - is a word smithing for Vouchers. Bottom line elites want to destroy public schools, and eliminate competition!! Elites hate paying for public schools when they send their children to private. They want to privatize education!!!
And please don't tell me that founding is the only reason why we as a nation can't get a good education.EX: Bozeman's Schools (in Montana) always teach the material and in 2004 the high school there was 13 on the list of best schools in the nation. And trust me we have some limited founding too.
We don't need NCLB.KUDOS for the awsome video!!=)
This is where I'm becoming concerned. I've been wondering, ever since I picked up Dr. Diane Ravitch's "The Language Police," just how exactly the Department of Education is thinking... Apparently, it's not.
What's worse: I'm a 17 year old student in high school, soon to turn 18... This madness should end, now.
This makes me think of the recent story about Miss Teen South Carolina: She's probably a great test taker. When well rehearsed, she can seem to make intelligent statements. But when the moment of critical thinking arrived, she totally failed. The "great test takers" (bubble fillers) are praised and the system builds itself around this mentality. The critical thinkers, future artists, etc, are held back or ignored entirely.
This video is awesome...our children are being sacrificed. As a nation, we should all be outraged! Where is the national media investigation? Our future depends on our actions today. FIGHT THE REAUTHORIZATION OF NCLB!
Perhaps the reality of NCLB will awaken us to the larger flaws in American education - all of which are dramatically delivered in this video. There are bigger fish to fry in this piece.
Thank you. This video is right on! The NCLB Act is punitive and fear based. The United States congress needs to REPEAL the NCLB Act, because the basic premises on which it is based are WRONG. Testing does not equal learning. Those who know best about learning are the students, their teachers, and their parents. The U.S. congress needs to get a grip on reality and REPEAL the NCLB Act. The NCLB Act is the problem. Follow the money. Those who are getting rich from the NCLB Act are corrupt.
NCLB is all about money. It's big money for the test publishers, and a way for private schools (who don't have to give tests) to grab your tax money.

So the way NCLB works is they pencil-whip the standardized testing results, regardless of students' performance?
