talking about translation speed? I know that chrome has built in translate that you can translate the whole page by one click, and you don't need to translate it sentence by sentence. So now who is faster?
Not to mention that both Firefox and Chrome is CROSS-PLATFORM and they don't DISCRIMINATE Windows XP users.
they make it more complicated than it is. You could right click, then copy, or simply CTRL + C, then paste it, instead of going through all of the menus
A new revolution is coming, currently based on the IE engine (soon to be firefox engine) will come new web browser, with a super fast performance. Stay tuned :D
I already see myself css tricking my pages for IE 6/7/8/9/10/11... Are you f.. kidding us ? All browsers but IE work like charm, full stop. People defending IE should grab the red pill and write a web page someday and we'll see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
What about selecting the address, right clicking and choosing Search Google for... and then clicking the first link because Google search recognizes street addresses? Are they that stupid or what? :-O
Of course, direct map search would be better and make those 3 steps...
You should try Firefox or any other browser than IE and see the time you could save by using something that actually works a lot better than your old IE.
hmm, because EVERYONE i know uses the file menu to copy, and not control c or even right click copy... even control T for a new tab. Chrome > Firefox and Opera > Safari > Internet Explorer.
Love Chrome, but Firefox and Opera have a lot more features - still yet to decide which is better.
HTML5 and CSS3 are not standards according to World-Wide-Web-Concorsium, W3C... Neither FF nor Chrome or Safari, can even pass CSS2.1 tests completely ;)
I looks cool to me. I will be giving this a test when I get it. And being technically fastest at doing a particular function isn't always everything. A logical layout is helpful. It is getting hard however for any browser to reduce steps much more though. At least it's worth checking out.

Here's Internet Explorer's greatest feature: The ability to download Firefox.

I hate these "accelerators", they are in the way when I want to select text
sijmenjan 1 year ago
@sijmenjan If the accelerators button is distracting, you can disable it here:
Click Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced
Uncheck the box for Display Accelerator button on selection, under Browsing.

lol, they're too scared to go against Firefox with addons.
It IS clear that IE 8 is the fastest browser, when it comes to downloading malware.

I'm going to change my old Explorer to Explorer 8 only when my favorite websites will stop working with it.....
I'm not used to work with all the other browsers, and the new Explorer 8 looks diffrent too.
in case you are wondering, I'm pretty young- in my 20's , I find it hard to get used to new stuff like that.

Let's see how muck steps and years we'll need to get a single HTML5 tag / CSS3 property display in IE.
WIth FF/Chrome extensions, the steps are the same, and google / bing maps don't take like a year to render.
Use your money to make a better browser instead of lying about the crap you made.

SISLA 2 years ago
They will be, and when they will, we'll need to wait 5 years to have an IE working with it.
And FF, Chrome and Safari passes the Acid2 test, and they get more than 90% at Acid3, while IE have a poor 28%.
You can't come and say IE is the best browser because it works in 2009 like it should have 4 years ago.
IE8 is so late MS have to lie about it to keep people using it.

in konqueror, if I'm on a page that's in chinese, I'll just tools->translate web page->[whetever language to english]
one step, and the whole page is readable.
There's a ton of little hacks that let konqueror do all this stuff quickly...

So nice of them to compare IE8 WITH ACCELERATORS to firefox WITHOUT ADDONS.
And how many steps to get a map from Google Maps (and not Bing) ?
Even without addons:
Firefox: in the searchbar click "manage" and add whatever map service you wish to use. Select it.
Now for any addresses you wish to find, select, right click on that selection and choose "search with google maps" (or whatever).
Once the search engine is installed, it'll be a single step or two at most and with your favorite service.
MadsterV 2 years ago
It comes out of box... Accelerators are not add-ons.
SISLA 2 years ago
It's a bundled add-on.
Would you say calculator is a part of the windows operating system? nope, it's a bundled program and it's there out-of-the-box.
Firefox comes bundled with google and wikipedia search plugins.
Accelerators are add-ons as you can uninstall them or add more, without touching the main functionality of the program.
MadsterV 2 years ago
Hrm in Safari, it's actually 2 steps if you're using Mail;
In an e-mail, just click an address and select show in map... And Boom! It automatically launches Safari with the location in google Map...
I give Microsoft a A for effort though because they are really trying to release better products... even if they aren't still big on standards...

Right, ok. So it states that browsers are tested without any add-ons, then goes to test IE8 using add-ons (or as Microsoft call them, accelerators).
Total bollocks from Microsoft, lol

The only thing I thought was : WTF ? oO
Is this a big joke ?
I'm on chrome and do the same thing in 3 spets too. It's also possible in 2 steps if you don't open a new window...
Microsoft made this commercial just for people who don't understand anything in computers...
